  • I'd say, "This is boring. Let's go to the gym and lift some weights instead"
  • I have a daily dose, either a cup of it on it's own, or I make some kind of Chinese or Thai soup dish from it.
  • I use a dash of bone broth in my stir fries, and thicken it with Xanthan Gum (sprinkle about 1/3 tsp in and stir well). The rest of the seasoning (Garlic, Ginger, Chili, Soy Sauce) make up the sauce flavour.
  • Whipped Cream Bacon Greens stir fried in any kind of fat A good steak Butter
  • It should. The only trouble I've had with step counting (Surge) is when pushing a shopping trolley around.
  • First, you feel fantastic! The way to know for sure is to use a blood meter. Fasted glucose below 4.3mmol and Ketones above 0.5mmol means you are in ketosis AND actually using the ketones.
  • The last broth I made was with 10 chicken feet and a chicken carcass. All of $1.80 for about 5L of great broth which I used to make Chinese and Thai style soups as well as the broth by itself for a snack. Just whack whatever bones, cartilage, connective tissue, heads, feet etc... All the stuff you normally throw away into…
  • Just eat plenty of cruciferous veggies, and you will get enough nutrients/fibre etc... I actually eat more veggies now, than I did as a vegan :D
  • Way too high ;) My keto coach has me limited to 24g protein on a per meal basis. Everyone is different but that is my limit. Any more and I get raised blood glucose through gluconeogenesis. I suggesting cutting the protein down and filling up on fat instead. This is my setup from the keto calculator --- *Generated by [Keto…
  • Get a glucometer. Ketostix are a complete waste of time. You will probably find that your glucose is elevated through stress or calorie restriction which is affecting keto adaptation. And eat more fat! :)
  • My blood glucose has been as low as 3.6mmol (64.8 mg/dl) without ill effects. Without Ketones that would be almost hypoglycaemic. The optimal for keto is around 80mg/dl (4.4mmol) or less which really gives ketones a chance to be used. I'm talking fasted levels of course. BTW, I'm not diabetic. I use the glucometer for fun…
  • It depends on how cold your place is :) Mine started to go solid now winter is approaching. It was liquid before that.
  • I have decaf because of the fake energy that caffeine produces from adrenal stress and cortisol. Mine is 1tbsp coconut oil, 1tbsp MCT, 2tbsp cream (unthickened! Carrageenan is inflamatory!)
  • If it helps, I have a couple of handfuls of spinach at breakfast. About 60g (couple of handfuls) baby spinach and rocket salad at lunch (with some olives and avocado), and dinner is 160-200g of assorted cruciferous veges like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage etc... and usually stir fried in duck fat or loads of butter. The…
  • This is stress related. Stress will raise your blood glucose. If you test with a glucometer when you wake, you will probably find that it is elevated. For IF, the best way is to eat breakfast early about 1h before doing a workout and have your last meal by about 6:30pm to give digestion a chance before bed around 9-9:30pm.…
  • I use the tablets. It also has interesting side effects for male libido too, so be warned :D
  • Keto4life. The health benefits go way beyond mere weight loss. Losing weight is just a side effect :)
  • Paleo is too low fat and they include lots of high GI foods like Quinoa and Honey. You can indeed do dairy free keto. Fats are easy to get from animal fats for cooking like tallow, duck fat, lard etc.., avocados (I eat one a day!), and MCT/Coconut Oil. If you need a decaf creamer (caffeine overstimulates your adrenals and…
  • It's best to avoid too much cardio. When your glycogen stores are depleted, you can become catabolic and lose muscle. It's weird but that's your body's preference. The best exercise on Keto is resistance and HIIT. Make sure you include about 2 mins of stretching between sets and relax with it. The idea is to get your…
  • Is the chicken/veg soup premade or from a packet? Dump that stuff and make it yourself if possible. Or just have eggs and avo. Avo mushed up in a stuffed omelette is delish! I cook mine in butter or duck fat :) It's important to include cruciferous (Cauliflower, Broccoli, green beans, spinach etc..) vegetables on keto to…
  • I had feelings of nausea after raising my fat intake to about 300g a day. What helped me was a liver tonic from the health food store. It tastes pretty foul but I can handle the extra fat now without more than very mild queasiness.
  • I cooked chicken wings in duck fat and use the fat from the roasting pan to stir fry the veges. It's a thing of beauty isn't it? :)
  • Duck Fat! I've been cooking everything in duck fat lately. Oh, the crispy skin on salmon. Oh, the deliciousness of chicken wings roasted in it. Oh the stir fries with it! Total yum!
  • I do light resistance training with lots of stretching between sets. I'm building and firming up slowly as I go. I'm careful not to spend too much time with elevated heart rate in the cardio zone. Cardio is catabolic (muscle eating) when you have depleted glycogen stores like most Keto people.
  • Up your calories with fat is my suggestion. 1200 cals is going to stall you out eventually because your body thinks it's starving and release leptin which will hold on to your fat stores to deal with the starvation. It's all about hormones and how we manipulate them. Also check your blood glucose. You ideally want ketones…
  • Crepe! http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2014/07/egg-fast-recipe-snickerdoodle-crepes-low-carb.html These are pretty good. I just had them for dinner though :)
  • I have a Jawbone UP24 and it got annoying wearing a chunky band (like the fitbit flex) all the time. I've also been waiting for a such a smart watch to come along. US$249 is a good price point for me. What would make it more perfect for me would be if it ran Android Wear so I could put crazy custom faces on it.
