  • I hear ya. I had an aversion to salads for all of the first and second tri and now in the third tri, it's a whenever-I'm-in-the-mood food. Hopefully for you it won't last past your first tri and you'll be able to eat those foods again sooner than later and you'll also get your energy back second tri. So just be patient and…
  • I'm quite the opposite... I keep reading this post and wondering "where the hell are mine at???" Guess I got 9 more weeks for them to show up
  • Random fact of the day: my paternal great grandpa was in the civil war - he was 76 when my grandpa was born (my great grandma was considerably younger). My grandpa was perfectly healthy, served in the Navy during WWII, was a Police Officer for 30 years and had sharp mind/witts until he passed earlier this year from…
  • I'll be making an effort to do daily walks & including our dogs initially. Then I plan to start up P90X again and just doing what I can of the exercises (more the weight workouts for now, and cardio when I feel up to it).
  • My mom's best friend from HS had her first at age 40 and second at age 42/43 and both were full term, healthy babies w/no issues. Honestly, you know your body better than anyone and if you're taking care of yourself by eating right and exercising, then you and your baby should be just fine. And as someone else said, once…
  • I've noticed Chloe, our jack russell/beagle mix, has gotten more clingy/attention hungry since becoming pregnant and ALWAYS has to follow me around or be on my lap if I'm sitting down (except at the dinner table and then she's right at my feet!). Tasha, the husky/dachshund mix, has always had a cat-like personality (will…
  • I have a friend from college who just did hers and shared on FB, and sent me a FB message saying I should do them too. Honestly hadn't even thought of it. Hubby isn't necessarily keen on it, and I can't really say I am either. Like OP, I don't know if it's a fad (which I don't subscribe to) or something I may look back on…
  • Hey all, I'm officially moving to the third trimester thread - I'm 27 weeks today and time seems to be flying! Before I know it, she'll be here LOL.
  • Good info to know, thanks for sharing! We've got one our on our registry, but like chickybuns, she'll be in the room with us at the beginning. But definitely a good reminder for when we get to that point!
  • Alrighty all, I'm officially off to the third trimester board - see ya'll over there! :drinker:
  • Updated monthly breakdown: May (weeks 1-4) +0 June (weeks 5-8) +0 July (weeks 9-12) +4.7 August (weeks 13-17) +4.7 September (weeks 18-21) +7.4 October (weeks 22-26) +23 <- at school for 3 weeks and ate out more than normal and crazy class hours limited working out :blushing:
  • I've had heart burn/acid reflux all day and I'm wishing I had milk right now to try, but am too lazy to go to the store to get any (and I leave in 2 days to go home so it'd be a waste to get a quart of milk)... and I also have a migraine to boot. Ugh....
  • Haha, when I let me dog sleep on the bed, she burrows into my back and won't budge so there's no way I can roll over! I'm glad this post exists because I'd read you shouldn't sleep on your back for blood flow reasons, and even though I wasn't really a back sleeper to begin with, I find myself waking up on my back and being…
  • You all are making me jealous.... when I got pregnant I barely fit into 36A bras and now I can fill them much better, but haven't gotten big enough to require a bigger cup size *sigh* :ohwell:
  • Oh, I like yours! Mine, like your first, is three pages, and I wish I could have such a general, abbreviated list like that but since I'm delivering at an Army hospital, I think it best to spell everything that I want out exactly as I want them, not leaving anything open to interpretation, just in case! I also plan to have…
  • A friend of mine expecting her second also highly recommends a prenatal chiropractor for any joint/ligament pains, as well as helping to position the baby if needed and preparing the joints/ligaments for stretching during labor. Some even offer services during delivery which can help minimize unnecessary medical…
  • Shape wear, from what I've used, basically just smooths out certain parts of your body, but doesn't really do anything to compress it like a corset. If your dress is tight in places, even with shape wear it will still be tight, but won't look as bad. Regardless I eventually had to upsize my pants because the shapewear just…
  • Yay for you!
  • My mom actually asked me the question as to when we wanted them out there, whether as soon as we were headed to the hospital they hit the road, have them wait 2 weeks, or wait until my 6 weeks when I have to go back to work and they can come out then for a few weeks and give us some free day care/transition time back to…
  • If there's a slot running across the battery cover, try using a coin to turn it open; that's how I have to change my HRM.
  • Ditto for me on all accounts.
  • Mac & cheese, pizza, ramen noodles... all foods I ate when I was younger and haven't had in years are what I'm craving, and to add to that I have a stronger aversion to salads. Before salads were an as-I'm-in-the-mood-for-it kind of food because of textures, but now I just don't want them period which hinders my veggie…
  • This! And to add, feeling to determine if the cord stops pulsing indicates whether blood, etc. is still being transferred from the mother to the baby. This can be as short as 3-5 mins or as long as 1-2 hours. I plan to tell them to not cut until at least 1 hr or when the cord stops pulsing (when felt closest to the baby)…
  • I'm 5'9" and started at 150 lbs. First tri I was at maintenance cals and second-third trimesters I'll be at maintenance + 250, so right now I'm at 2120 cals per day and at 24 weeks I'm only up 12 lbs.
  • Depending on when the battery was changed last, try putting a fresh battery in and see if the problem goes away. If you use a chest strap, try cleaning the contact strips as those sometimes get dirty and don't read well. If neither of these solve the problem, who knows, maybe it is?? All I know is that I would be…
  • Talked to my doula about this and she said to give them a timeframe rather than say delayed clamping based on when the cord stops pulsating. Also, wether the cord is still pulsating depends on where they test the cord; make sure they test it closer to the baby rather than the middle. Hope this helps!
  • Not sure how I would've reacted initially (probably would've picked him up too initially although I would've made a fuss about it too) but I'm with you for dumping him at the store and walking home. Too bad you couldn't have gotten his *kitten* out of the car and made him walk, serves him right. Once he sobers up,…
  • Great, strong nails and bigger boobs, the latter of which my husband really likes since I didn't have much to begin with!
  • We went to Hawaii (Oahu and the Big Island) for 2 weeks when I was 11-13 weeks pregnant. He originally had to go for work and I tagged along and we made it our babymoon :) We did lots of walking/hiking to different waterfalls, snorkled, rented mopeds, and of course hit up the tourist locations, to include the USS Arizona…
  • Here's a topic that was started previously that has some feedback in it for you. Got lost in the topics as the last reply was 2 weeks ago lol http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/751511-midwives-and-birth-plans
