  • Had my 20-week u/s yesterday (finally! I'm only 23w1d), and we're having a girl! They estimated her weight at 1 lb 7 oz and roughly 24w1d, so about 1 week ahead. They got all the pics they needed and we got to see the brain, spine, butt, heart beating, kidney, limbs, face, umbilical cord/placenta, among all the images they…
  • I considered a water birth as from what I'd read I could only see positives for it, but the Army hospital doesn't have a birthing tubs. They do however offer showers and have no issue with allowing us to get up and move around, try different positions from standing, leaning on SO, squatting, and using items like a birthing…
  • We crate trained them originally when we first got our two, but when I went away for a few months for work, my husband let them up on the bed. Don't mind it much if they can lay still and I get plenty of room before they get settled lol. Now, they tend to choose where they want to sleep; lately it's been on the chairs in…
  • I'm active duty Air Force so I don't have a choice, but seeing's how the military is paying for everything I won't complain too much about being in a hospital. Especially since the military hospital (Army) I'll be at supports limiting unnecessary interventions, doesn't follow artificial timelines, etc. I'm being seen by a…
  • The first time we went to listen to the heart beat via doppler the nurse couldn't get a steady read on the heartbeat because the baby was moving around too much. I found out later from a friend who's expecting her second that if you eat too close to an appt the baby will be more active and the noise he/she makes moving…
  • Had my 23 week appt today and per the nurse I've only gained 8 pounds this pregnancy. But I'm still going to hold to my 12 lb gain based on my MFP weight from week 1, not my dr's office weigh in during week 8.
  • This is the one I want to get because it's a perfect compromise between a wedge and full body pillow (which I've never liked): http://www.amazon.com/Boppy-Prenatal-Cuddle-Pillow-Neutral/dp/B00474AT6K/ref=sr_1_9?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1349838607&sr=1-9&keywords=pregnancy+pillow
  • Per your calories, you may have only gained 3 lbs, but the rest could be the amniotic fluid, increased blood volume, baby's weight, etc. This will add to your overall weight gain, but not all the 9 lbs is "fat" by overeating. Just keep that in mind and you'll be ok. Not all the weight you put on you'll have to lose; only a…
  • Here's mine by the month. May (weeks 1-4) +0 June (weeks 5-8) +0 July (weeks 9-12) +4.7 August (weeks 13-17) +4.7 September (weeks 18-21) +7.4 October (weeks 22-26) currently +12.7 lbs gained
  • I started noticing weight gain around week 9 when it shot up 5.7 lbs. From week 9 through week 18 it fluctated between 4.7-5.7 until week 19 when it jumped to 7.5 lbs gained. My weight seemed to hold at 7.5 lbs until week 22 (this week) when it jumped to 12.7 lbs gained. I think those jumps are when the baby goes through a…
  • My hubby's gained but it's a medical related issue for him that just so happened to pop up around the same time we found out I was pregnant. He's also the type that can eat pretty much anything he wants and doesn't gain a thing, but he's been told no cardio or workouts that increase his rate because his workouts were…
  • Congrats on maintaining! :drinker: Doesn't surprise me you didn't gain - when we went to Hawaii during the end of my first tri, I actually lost weight as I was more active than normal with all the walks/hikes/kayaking/snorkeling we did and apparently didn't eat enough to make up for it
  • I was also told no deli meat UNLESS it was nuked in the microwave/grilled first. So I allow myself Subway cravings but make sure they toast it to meet that "nuked" requirement. I've also buy precooked, presliced spiral ham instead of deli meat so when I nuke it for breakfast sandwiches or lunch/dinner I'm good there too.
  • I live in CO and the AC hasn't run in our house for almost a month but it's not quite cold enough to turn on the heat yet (I'll give it 2 more weeks), and sweat pants/shirt are enough for now if it gets a tad chilly in the house (hovers between 65-70 in the house). Definitely helps with the heating/cooling bill
  • A coworker will be using a doula for the second time and I'll be getting one as well. It's about $400 with 3-4 pre-delivery appts, on-call starting week 39 and available 24/7 during labor, and 1-2 visits post delivery. I'll be meeting with two this week to decide while doula I'll go with, but my coworker has already chosen…
  • This weekend I made pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie french toast! Weather has finally been getting cooler such that I'm also starting to crave hot cocoa w/marshmallows
  • I'm current with all my vaccines and got the flu shot in late Aug when my work was offering it, making sure to get the shot and not the mist which is not supposed to be taken by pregnant women. My OB says that apparently I'm not immune to rubella so I'll be getting that vaccine after the baby's born. Which is weird because…
  • In my honest opinion, the frequency with which celebrities fall in and out of "interesting" status with the public at large should be the big reason why you don't care if the name you chose is shared by anyone else. I seriously think in 1+ years no one is really going to remember or care that a celebrity's son has the same…
  • Oh nice site! I'm constantly asked how many months along I am and I keep having to answer with weeks because I just don't know other than from May-Sep it's been 4 months. This definitely helps!
  • I'm 21 weeks and up 12 lbs now.
  • We told our parents/siblings around 7 weeks, grandparents/extended family/friends at 11 weeks (after our first doctor's appointment w/ultrasound), my supervisor/work around 15 weeks. I found out week 5, and told a very close friend immediately because my husband was out of country for work and I have to have someone to…
  • Feel free to join us in the MFP group below for support and info from others on the site going through the same thing. Congrats to you and hope it goes well this time around! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1903-fit-fabulous-pregnant
  • You could ask for a walking epidural; helps with pain but a lower dose so you can still move around. That's the route I'd go if I decided I needed something. My appts are with a certified nurse midwife, but the baby will be delivered by the OB in the military hospital as I don't have a choice on that matter unless the baby…
  • My nose has gotten a lot more sensitive so cigarette smoke bothers me a lot more now as well as cars' exhaust (have to keep the AC on recycle it bothers me that much). And my younger dog - she's gotten more needy/clingy and is constantly wanting on me and has gotten very vocal if I don't let her right away xD
  • Our JC Penny too  I love Kohl's and got some great steals this weekend on the clearance rack and the other items were part of the store-wide sale ranging from 30-60% off. Also went to Motherhood Maternity in the mall and they had an awesome selection! Prices weren't on sale, but jeans alone were cheaper than my…
  • We must shop at different stores (that or everything is just more expensive in NY) because my maternity jeans were at least $20 cheaper than my normal jeans and I found plenty of maternity tops and capris on sale/clearance for no more than $20 each.
  • Community tab > Under Message Boards click on Settings > uncheck option.
  • <-- My two dogs! Both are shelter dogs and the best dogs we've ever had (one I got while my husband was deployed ) Chloe is a beagle/jack russel mix and will play ball even after your arms fall off! Tasha is a husky/dachshund mix and I swear she's a cat trapped in a dog's body for all the cat-like traits she has…
  • Half a box of granola bars minus the wrappers. Somehow she managed to unwrap them and eat just the food lol.
  • I've never heard that term before so I couldn't tell you if that's what I felt, but about a week before my missed period I definitely felt something different than premenstral cramps. It was a very unique feeling that I'd never felt before and that was my initial indication I may be pregnant; random slight discomfort, but…
