Don't get too carried away with the logic of "protein = good, carbs = bad" or you'll drive yourself crazy. Keep eating your fruits and veggies - they're great for you! That being said, I usually eat a quest bar at some point during the day, almost every day. Most of them pack about 20g of protein, less than 3g net carbs,…

Also, citrus like lemon and lime can satisfy the flavor craving that salt does - I use it on lot's of veggies to keep myself from using more salt than I perhaps should.

I love the frozen foods section at Trader Joe's, but nothing packs a sodium punch quite like frozen meals. Even low-cal, low-fat, delicious and healthy things are usually packed with sodium in the frozen foods aisle. I still keep them on hand for nights when cooking sounds terrible (it keeps me away from ordering some…

This. Really great advice if you feel like you're at your limits as far as cutting calories goes.

When I first started putting on weight in college, I "I can't"ed myself into a 40lb weight gain - getting myself down to 800-1000 calories per day for about a week and then eating more than ever after I couldn't sustain it. Since I've started doing this the healthy and sustainable way, I've lost almost 20lb in about 10…

I'm 23! Feel free to add me and check out my friends list - full of twentysomethings :) Good luck!!

I used to do the same thing and I was surprised at the discrepancies I found when using the scale. I fought getting one for a very long time, but now I'm happy to have it. Another thing that may help you is to up your water intake. I work in a hospital as well and find that when I'm running around so much, I don't take the…

I literally gain at least five pounds of water weight a few days before my cycle each month. Don't stress too much. Drink lot's of water and stay off the scale for a few days.

Your 20 in 2 goal is much more realistic than 40 in 4. In my first month, I lost 10lbs but the months subsequent have slowed down a bit. I found this frustrating initially, but you have to remember that weight loss is not a linear journey. Listen to your body, make sure you're getting plenty of nutrients, and do your best.

Yep, there are definitely plenty of them. I just get upset when people throw around nonsense about eating disorders when there are, in fact, a lot of people that use this site as a way of recovering from those disorders. Best of luck to you though! You have the right attitude and if you keep it up, you'll be at your goal…

If you soak in water and place in the fridge overnight, you can just microwave it in the morning. Makes it much easier!

I ate two cold, lackluster pieces of Dominos stuffed cheesy bread day before last. If something is truly spectacular, I usually show no remorse but these weren't even very good. Instant regret.

You need to reevaluate your definition of an eating disorder and stop throwing terms like that around. OP has clearly stated that she doesn't wish to starve herself or lose tons of weight, but wants to tone up a problem area that she feels self-conscious about. Your comments are hurtful and ill informed.

I never realized I was doing it until someone pointed it out. I usually skip breakfast and have a very low cal, high protein lunch (usually a quest bar or a kind bar or something). I have a somewhat large, early dinner and one or two snacks into the evening. So, if you count sleeping, I'm on a 12 hr cycle. It works for me…

Like others have said, as long as you're watching your portion size and logging it into your daily calories, there is nothing wrong with eating what you want. That being said, I feel like there are other things that would keep you full longer than pasta and lettuce. I love using quinoa as a base for lots of kinds of dense…

Fresh fish and fresh berries kill me. I love them both, but when I buy them they easily take up the majority of my weekly grocery budget :(

Totally agree. A lot of what we struggle with IS a lifestyle issue, but things like body type and proportion can certainly be attributed to genetics. Some women have wider hips, some have a larger chest, some have broader shoulders, etc. Genetics are almost never an excuse to be overweight, but they definitely help explain…

Further proof that we're all different - I'm 5'8" and exactly the same weight but I'm between a 10-12...really closer to the 12. Definitely don't sweat the size on the tag, just focus on you you feel in your clothes. If you feel confident, then they're a perfect size!

I'm totally the devil on your shoulder, but it's your birthday! Go for it! If you know you're the type of person who can work extra hard at the gym and save some calories the week before/after, then you've got no reason not to treat yourself.

I'm not a big breakfast eater, so I usually grab something on the go on weekdays - usually a quest bar or a kind bar. On weekends I love to do a brunchey salad or a homemade breakfast sandwich. Last but not least, every day also gets a giant cup of coffee to wash it down haha

I bake chick peas with olive oil and some cajun seasoning! They're crispy, spicy, and protein rich. Highly recommend.

Please get help. Making yourself sick is not the answer. Clearly you've been through a traumatic event and therapy will do you a lot more good than a weight loss plan.

Some people choose to log black coffee and tea, but I prefer not to. I drink so much of the stuff and it's nice to have something that I'm not tracking!

Tandoori dishes are definitely lower in calories. And as others have said, chili and/or tomato based curries will also be fairly low in calories. Channa Masala is one of my all-time favorite foods and it's not too bad calorie-wise!

Banana Apple Nuts Hard boiled egg Tuna salad cup made with very little light mayo Quest bar Kind bar 1 tbsp PB on wheat toast All of those are at or around 200 calories. The quest and kind bars are a little pricey, but the rest can be very affordable if buying in bulk or from trader joe's :)

I could be wrong but I think this poster is saying bagel OR oatmeal OR scone, not AND. Also, are you putting people down to make yourself feel better or because you're actually that rude? This poster is simply trying to be helpful by answering OP's original question.
