  • I'm 5'8" with a GW of 135. I'm not very active and keep my calories around 1200-1300. When I exercise, I eat those calories back, and I definitely recommend the same. Feel free to add me or take a look at my diary - it's open!
  • Feel free to add me! I've been known to hound people on my friends list who disappear for more than a few days :)
  • My diary is open and my daily goal is 1200. I go over a few times a week and I eat back all of my exercise calories, but I'm fairly consistent in logging. Feel free to add me if you like!
  • I'm the same height, though my goal weight is a bit less because I have a small frame. Someone is definitely going to recommend a food scale - and it's a good idea. Other than that, definitely focus on drinking lots of water. Even set a timer on your phone to drink a glass at least every hour or two. Also, feel free to add…
  • I did nonfat cappuccinos for a long time. If you want something sweet, they have some pretty good sugar free syrup options and there's nothing wrong with a little skim milk. Easy to keep it under 100 calories when you use those guidelines :)

  • Sounds delicious! Thanks for the idea, OP. Love cauliflower and this is a great new way to work it into some meals. Everyone whining about the choice to eat cauliflower instead of rice, go find something better to do.
  • I've definitely been in that cycle, so I can relate. I broke it by throwing away the batteries in the scale. Two weeks later, I went out and bought new ones and weighed in. I felt like I was going nuts not being able to weigh in at first, but I forgot about it eventually. When I did weigh in, I was pleasantly surprised!…
  • To be perfectly honest, not really. Everyone is different so I don't want to speak in absolutes, but that borders on unhealthy weight loss for people much larger than you are. I would not expect to be able to lose more than 5-10lbs in that time. To counter that (and look great at those weddings), I would try to tone up…
  • That's maybe the biggest issue for most people. A few years ago, before I was committed to a healthier lifestyle, I had a friend who was trying (successfully) to lose weight. She used to make a fuss about not being able to order anything at certain restaurants and it really drove the rest of us nuts. No one cared that she…
  • I also buy better wine because I want to savor the glass I do get to have, and a single bottle will last me at least the week (usually more). It's actually been nice!
  • Log the wine. It's totally OK to drink, as long as you add it to your daily goals. Maybe try cutting down on the portion and/or frequency to start? I love red wine so this was a big change for me when I started out as well.
  • This link can be helpful, but try not to get frustrated if your progress deviates from this projection! There are lots of factors that play into this and a computer simply can't keep track of them all. wolframalpha.com/input/?i=weight+loss
  • Ok, ok you guys win! I just ordered a scale on amazon. I've been on the fence about weighing because i have an obsessive/addictive personality and a family history of eating disorders. I'll give it a shot but if I get so obsessed that it starts interfering with daily life, it's going in the trash. OP deserves a pat on the…
  • Hey there! I'm Jackie, 23, and always looking to add motivated people to my friends list! Trying to slim down for a hot NYC summer and can always use more support :)
  • "*kitten* shavings" I am dying As long as you meant "add" this sounds delicious! haha
  • I'll defend my 1200 goal all day, but those of you who are encouraging VLCDs are encouraging dangerous weight loss - yes, even in the short term. It's against the rules of the message boards, not to mention it is a major trigger for those on MFP who are recovering or suffering for disordered eating.
  • This is how I hide my Milky Way bites from my kids. LOL [/quote] LOVE this haha
  • You don't have time to throw a frozen sandwich in a bag with an ice pack every morning but you do have time to spike all of your food with things that make it inedible? Sorry but priorities.
  • See above example regarding trespassing. The food-lacer might not get in trouble every time but it is simply not worth the risk when there are other solutions that don't aim to harm someone (i.e. lunchbox).
  • I agree. I guess it's the reason that sort of situation is the first thing that comes to mind in this case!
  • If someone hops over a fence and past a no trespassing sign in your yard and sprains their ankle in the process, they can sue you. And win. Trust me, I've been through it. It's just not worth the risk. **edited for typo
  • You never know who has an allergy to those kinds of things or a preexisting condition that could cause a serious adverse outcome. While logically one would say "it's not my fault, it wasn't theirs anyway," the law interprets it very differently. It's just not a good idea. There are other ways to solve OP's problem that…
  • Drugging your coworkers (thieves or not) is an absolutely terrible idea. If something goes seriously wrong they could pursue legal action and you could lose your job. Not worth it. Invest in a lunchbox and an icepack and just bring what you need for that day. It's ok if things thaw a little through the day so long as they…
  • I aim for about 1200 cals per day and my diary is open! Feel free to add me and/or check it out!
  • So you're not following your "clean eating" plan "like it's the gospel" ?? I mean, just curious.
  • I'm right there with you. I'm fairly sedentary, so 1200 tends to leave me pretty satisfied as long as it's protein-rich and has a decent amount of dietary fat. If I'm still hungry, I just eat more and don't stress it too much.
  • I've done CSA's before and I LOVED it! First of all, if you eat lots of veggies in the first place, it will save you some money. Second, you learn to cook all kinds of things that you usually wouldn't find in the store. Overall, I highly recommend it :)
  • I haven't finished logging for today yet, but most days I overshoot the 1200 mark by a bit, and definitely eat back exercise calories. I guess it satisfies me most of the time because I'm fairly sedentary. Glad to know my protein isn't unreasonable though!
  • Ummm in just the past week I have been kicked in the shins by a small child on thee street and had a spit ball flung into my ear on the subway. Some children should be on leashes.
  • I feel the same way - without breakfast I naturally get a little hungry right around noon - and I eat. If I do eat breakfast (yes, something with lots of protein like a quest bar), I find myself ravenous by the time noon rolls around and I overeat. So, I decided to stop eating breakfast and sticking with coffee until I get…
