You are correct, not everybody has blood sugar issues, including myself. However, peaks and troughs in your blood sugar (and insulin) affect how your body metabolizes the food you eat whether or not you have diabetes. I was just trying to give some information to the original poster and in no way was speaking in absolutes.

Eating throughout the day will keep your blood sugar and insulin levels more steady and could theoretically help with your weight loss. However, if you find that this doesn't work for you, you should do whatever does work and just make sure you're not going over on your calories.

Based on what you set as your goals, MFP has you at a 500-1000 (for 1-2 lb/week) calorie deficit per day. If you went over one day, you're still going to have an overall calorie deficit. Don't worry about it.

I agree with this, it started to get easier around day 4 or 5. I'd see how you feel after you've done level 1 for 10 days. If nothing else, you'll be sick of the comments Jillian makes and ready for a change of pace.

I haven't had any problems with my FT4. Don't know how you're using yours, but like others have said, I always wet the sensors before putting the strap on. I also wash the sensors with soap and water after every work out. Some people might find that excessive, but it works for me, and only takes maybe 1 minute. My battery…

Yep, MFP won't give you anything less than 1200 calories per day.

Very interesting, I didn't know that. Thank you everyone for the replies. I guess everyone does it a little differently. I'll just continue doing what I have been doing. I'll use the entries that are correct, tweak the ones that have a few imperfections, and create my own when I have to. I was just looking to see if anyone…

Well that's part of what I said - I know I can edit it, but if there's an entry there, and every single value is different from what I see on the label/company website, and 4 people have "confirmed" the values on MFP, should I really edit that?

My digital scale was fine until recently. I don't know if it's off balance or needs a new battery (my digital kitchen scale becomes difficult to zero when the battery is running low), but it's been super inaccurate lately. I can stand on it 4 different times within a minute or two, and I'll get 4 different readings, with a…

If you don't lose weight as quickly as you would like, don't consider it a failure. If you're eating healthy foods, then you're still succeeding at becoming healthier even if the number on the scale doesn't change. If you're exercising, you're getting your body into better shape, regardless of the weight loss. You have to…

Perfect timing for this challenge. I have been paying for and not using my gym membership for the past several months, and need to get back into the habit of going there regularly. Here it goes! Week # 1 -- December 31 -- Goal 180 minutes: Mon: Tue: Wed: Thur: Fri: Sat: Sun: Total / min left: 0 / 180

Were your periods regular before you started losing weight? If not, you may have been having anovulatory cycles (menstrual cycles without ovulation), and now that you're losing weight, your hormones are kicking back into action and your periods are becoming more regular. One sign of hormones acting correctly is actually…

When you talk to him about it ask him about why he wants to do it and what he thinks is holding him back. What would need to change in order for him to take the next step toward leading a healthier lifestyle? Don't lecture him, but make sure he knows you're there when he's ready. If you're in the same place as him, invite…

Hello all! I just found this post, but I'd like to have some other health professional buddies out there. I'm a physician currently in my residency for internal medicine and pediatrics. I would love some new friends if anyone is interested. :)

I don't think they're useless. I started with 2 lb weights, and when I would do any type of overhead/arm raising exercise, I definitely felt it the next day. When it starts to get easy with 3 lb weights, try increasing the weight.
-
I do this too.

If your goal is to lose weight, I'd say diet first. Weight loss is about 80% diet and 20% exercise, so you'll see faster results changing your diet first. Once you get used to eating healthily, you can start trying to work that exercise in.
-
There are only 3 workouts. Theoretically, you do level 1 for 10 days, then level 2 for 10 days, then level 3 for 10 days. Personally, I need rest days, so I'm going to take longer than 30 days, but I think you got the whole thing.
-
I'd hold off on the exercise for right now. If it's really just a head cold, the worst should be over in the next few days, and then you can get back to exercising. Let your body work on fighting the virus instead of adding the stress of exercise right now.

I'm 5'2" and joined MFP almost a year ago when I weighed 155 lb. Today I weigh 127 lb, and my ultimate goal is 120 lb. The biggest thing that helped with my weight loss was logging all of my food. I have definitely lost more weight in the months that I've logged consistently than in those that I haven't. It also helped to…

Hey all. I'm at work and thought I'd stop in and say hello. I like the idea of weekly challenges with points, though right now I would prefer to stick with individual challenges so I don't drag my team down. :ohwell: However, maybe having a team that to which I'm responsible will get me to do more of the weekly challenges.…

Has anyone on here had the Mirena inserted before ever being pregnant? Just curious... I know there are thoughts on both sides of this issue, so I'm all ears.

I like the idea of the group as well :).

Hi everyone! It's been a while, but I haven't forgotten about you, and I'm back. I had a busy couple weeks, and I don't know that anything's going to calm down, but I have a better handle on everything, so I hope to get back into the groove of MFP. I didn't weigh in last week partly because I hadn't been on MFP in…

Quick check in. I haven't had time to read through all the posts since I was last here, but I'll try to get to it later. I like keeping up with all of you! SW: 135.0 Week 1: 136.5 Week 2: 134.0 Week 3: 132.5 Week 4: 134.0 Week 5: 131.5 Week 6: 130.0 Week 7: 131.0 GW: 129 No surprise. I had a big loss last week, and wasn't…

It's that time of the week... Here goes: SW: 135.0 Week 1: 136.5 Week 2: 134.0 Week 3: 132.5 Week 4: 134.0 Week 5: 131.5 Week 6: 130.0 GW: 129 I will most certainly take a 1.5 lb loss. I hope it doesn't catch up to me this week, now that I'm no longer crazily running around a huge hospital every day. Good luck to everyone…

If you were going to be taking prednisone long-term (I'm talking weeks to months), you would probably gain weight. I'd bet that your doctor prescribed you a short burst of 5-7 days, and 10 mg is pretty much the lowest dose you can get. You shouldn't have a problem at all. And, if you do gain weight (which you shouldn't, at…

So after that first night, I did really well avoiding my trigger foods. I didn't eat out much this week, which definitely helps. I've completely fallen off the exercise wagon for about the last month. I've been really busy at work, and I let that take over for a while. On my days off, I just felt like I deserved to relax,…
