  • Nope - unless you are running marathons or doing Iron man competitions every day. As previously stated, you will be using body stores (both glycogen and fat) more than you will be using the half-digested food that is in your stomach and intestines. A very good layout of how this works can be found here: (note - some…
  • September 1 Progress update for August Bike -> 290.62 miles for the month Walking -> 24.37 miles Total steps -> 215,894 Avg steps -> 6,964 Weight loss -> 1.1 lbs (see discussion below) August was a good month for the most part, but it finished with a train wreck of a weekend. I tweaked my back while riding Friday (hit a…
  • After tweaking my back on Friday, I took the last four days off. Got back out on the bike this morning, no problems with the back and put in a 16.72 mile ride at a 13.6 mph average.
  • I have a 2 liter camel pack that is always with me on the bike... I use water with ice and electrolytes. I almost drained the pack on this morning's ride.
  • Morning ride - 17.06 miles, 13.2 mph avg, 78 minutes. Was really humid this morning (82%) and I was feeling it by the time I finished the ride. Yesterday's body weight routines - 50 push-ups and 30 squats.
  • Rode 16.8 miles before work this morning, did 80 push-ups, 60 squats and 1 plank (1 minute) yesterday. Food was on target, protein good and carbs lower than I had been eating (less than 150 grams yesterday). The carbs don't seem to matter as much as long as I am consistently riding in the morning. Will have to watch that…
  • Morning ride - 16.81 miles, 13.6 mph avg, 73 minutes. Yesterday's body weight workouts - 80 push-ups, 60 squats, 1 minute plank.
  • You could, but then you would have to add a grinder for the beans and a cup and...
  • Last week was a study in contrasts (all or nothing type mentality). I rode the bike 3 days for a total of 58.14 miles, but was an absolute slug for 2 days (it rained and I just couldn't get my lazy *kitten* to ride the spin bike those 2 days). Friday was a family day that involved a good bit of walking so there was that.…
  • Morning ride - 16.67 miles, 13.7 mph avg, 73 minutes. From yesterday - thru the day did 100 push-ups and 75 squats (broken onto groups of 20/15 per set). Will be doing the same thing thru the day today as well. May throw a couple of planks in the mix as well.
  • An interesting point on this - some school districts have found a legal way around the government edicts... they changed their dress codes to include masks as part of the dress code. Since all dress code decisions are local (out of state control), there is no way for the state to challenge their requirements.
  • Yeppers... we had 1 guy at the gym I went to pre-pandemic who didn't finish a single dead lift - always pulled the weight to his waist and then dropped it every. single. time.
  • Morning ride - 15.67 miles, 71 minutes, 13.3 mph avg. Will also be doing push-ups and squats every hour today during work.
  • This is interesting... I do the majority of my food logging thru the app (it's just easier for me that way) and the app doesn't do the 'RED' negative values any more - when you go over, it's black and bold. Still green for staying under the value but no more red. As to the OP, in my case, I know the friends that I have…
  • Morning ride - 15.54 miles @ 13.5 mph average. Yesterday was an active family day, we had one of the grand daughters over for the day, so spent the day baking cookies and doing other family stuff.
  • johnsonking487 - active now
  • 25.28 miles on the bike this morning @ 13.4 mph avg (a good pace for a hybrid). My longest ride of the season. Yesterday was just an active walking day, spent with the wife and daughter doing family stuff.
  • Given that black coffee and teas have about the same calories as the diet soft drink, shouldn't they break the fast as well? Also, I would love to see a citation in support of the bolded.
  • Continuing with the bike rides - did 17.3 miles at 13.4 mph average. Also doing push-ups/squats every hour during work.
  • Have had a couple of not-so-good food days in a row... went over 200g in carbs yesterday. Protein has been good, just need to manage the carbs. Rode the bike Thursday thru Saturday, logging 55 miles across the three rides. Took Sunday off, and rode yesterday and today, logging 33 miles. I have already done 184 miles on the…
  • Sunday was an active rest day for me. This morning I rode 15.6 miles on the bike and have been doing bodywork workouts during breaks from the computer.
  • Road bike for 19.2 miles @ 13.1 mph average. Started out at a faster pace but the heat and humidity caught up with me towards the end of the ride. Turns out I did bend the brake lever on the bike during the unplanned dismount, but it was easy enough to bend back into place. Other than that and some lost skin, everything is…
  • For ANDROID - On the FOOD page, tap the 'ADD FOOD' option under one of your meals, in the upper right-hand corner will be a bar code button. Tap the bar code and it will access the camera on the phone to scan bar codes.
  • Back out on the bike this morning, 16.6 miles at 13.2 mph average. Need to find someplace in the day to add some strength training... just haven't done it yet.
  • Walked to the store yesterday morning as a break from riding the bike. Took the long way and managed to clock in 4.25 miles before making it home. Food was good, protein and carbs both in the range that I am aiming for. Total steps -> 11,648 Haven't weighed myself yet, will get to that shortly.
  • 4.25 mile walk to the store and back (carrying groceries on the way back). Needed a break from bike riding and figured this would be good for a change. Did 67 miles on the bike over the last 4 days, limited somewhat by eating pavement at the end of my Sunday ride.
  • Yesterday was a good food day, under calories, reasonable on carbs and over on protein. Rode the bike 16.1 miles yesterday morning, a good ride, somewhat slower than I would like, but any ride is a good ride. Another hot and humid morning... may have some relief from that next week, but for now, I will just carry some…
  • Back to the journal... Food has been on track, tho protein has been low the last couple of days. Steps (with the exception of 1 'slug' day) have been good - still averaging 7300 steps a day. Exercise - I have been out riding 6 days so far in August and have stayed active most days beyond that. The last couple of days on…
  • One of the big proponents of the alkaline diets is Gwyneth Paltrow of GOOP. If that isn't enough to turn you off of the diet, this should. She advocates drinking alkaline water every morning, but she also advocates squeezing fresh, organic lemon juice (an acid) into the alkaline water. Know what happens when you mix an…
  • for you @natasor1 , you might want to go read the meta-analysis study linked in the first post of this thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10840145/meta-analysis-of-keto-diets-frontiers-in-nutrition-july-2021#latest As for the list of experts, I have watched Ekberg and he just rehashes the same…
