7/9 - Friday Steps -> 10,432 Cals -> 1,548 (145p/114nc) Exercise -> morning walk (2.74 miles), assembled the new grill that was my father's day present (it finally arrived!). Good day for exercise yesterday with the morning walk and then being active after work. Doesn't sound like much to assemble a grill, but it came in…

7/8 - Thursday Steps -> 10,696 Cals -> 1,919 (120p/162nc) Exercise -> morning walk (2.77 miles), mowed/edged the yard Yesterday was a good day for exercise, a so so day for food. Finally mowed and edged the yard, but had a real bout of the munchies so way overate on carbs. Finishing out the peanut butter jar didn't help…

I'm sure at least some of them do. I watched an ESPN show that was covering a cross-country endurance race here in the US (San Fran to NYC) many years ago. During the segment that I was watching, one of the riders blew a tire and while the mechanics were swapping out the wheel on the bike another crew member ran up to the…

This happens with shirts as well - less belly lets the shirt hang farther down... I have broad shoulders and can comfortably wear x-large shirts, but they hang past my crotch.

And most (if not all) of what you are reading is fear-mongering. In terms of available nutrients, there is very little, if any, difference between organic and non-organic foods. In terms of pesticides and residue, many of the pesticides allowed in organic farming are just as toxic and just as harmful to the environment as…

7/7 - Wednesday Steps -> 8192 Cals -> 1755 (129p/143nc) Exercise -> walked to the grocery store (and back) 2+ miles Yesterday was a good day - got in a nice walk in the morning and stayed more active the rest of the day (interesting how that works). Eating was good - protein where i want it, too many carbs tho. I tested BG…

Nope...DNA based anything at this stage of the game is a total crap-shoot. Yes, DNA testing can show what you MIGHT have a tendency towards, but it does not predict anything with certainty. As a prime example of this, there are hundred of thousands of women walking around with the gBRCAm gene right now - and relatively…

My daughter (now 19) had a yearly appointment with her doc all the way thru high school. Of course, we have acceptable health insurance, so everything is covered for the yearly visit. She was also active in sports thru high school (soccer and archery) so she had to have physicals to compete. As to the original question, I…

Since I don't usually visit the boards on weekends (I log food, just not active on the boards), this will be a catch-up post for the last 4 days: Friday: Steps -> 7716 Cals -> 1739 (86p/166nc) Exercise -> flooring prep (clean out closet, pull carpet/baseboards, etc) Saturday: Steps -> 9816 Cals -> 1532 (130p/129nc)…

Dude... why would you starve yourself like this??? I am the same height that you are, (currently) the same weight as you, over twice your age and not nearly as active as you - I have lost 17 lbs in just under 2 months eating over twice as much food daily as you say you are. I agree with the previous posts - you are eating…

Tuesday and Wednesday were much better days as far as food goes - stayed under calories both days and hit protein/carb goals as well. Still haven't done any deliberate exercise, even tho I have been staying active. Yesterday, I spent the evening clearing out the floor of the bathroom walk-in closet (I am going to put down…

6/29 No weight today... yesterday was a train wreck... Our daughter made brownies and cup cakes for the BH to take to work... stayed out of the cup cakes (not a fan), but had to have brownies, and peanut butter, and ... Just a really not good day food wise. Didn't get on the bike either, but I did finish the day helping…

Same for me - didn't eat solid food for 3.5 months after jaw surgery and the only thing it taught me is texture is a very important (and oft overlooked) component of food. Besides, there is nothing except a person's desire to lose the weight that keeps them from just hitting the quick release, scarfing down ALL the food…

6/28/2021 Weight - 238.4 BG - 99 Steps - 22,392 (Friday thru Sunday) Weight and BG are both a little high this morning. Weight is high because of all the exercise over the weekend. Finished the flooring in the living room, moved all the furniture back and installed all of the transition pieces throughout the house. Also…

I was going to put my stats in here someplace... age - 59 Height - 5' 8" Weights - see previous posts Also - got the sliders under the furniture, so ready to go.

6/25/2021 Weight - 238.0 (damn those salty chips...) BG - 79 Steps - 3692 Exercise - stayed active but no deliberate exercise yesterday Plan today is to get sliders under all the furniture that doesn't have sliders in prep for tomorrow's floor work. Need to do that today since I will be the only one here tomorrow (and it…

I don't eat white bread from the store because it is tasteless, texture-less squarish sadness... the fact the my 15 grain bread has better nutrition is simply an added bonus.

For a baseline reading (i.e. how your body is actually managing the blood sugar levels overall) the test will always be done in a fasted state. I was replying to the previous poster who had made the claim that your BG reading should not go above 140 after eating a meal, which is a ridiculous claim. The problem (and one of…

Yeah, but will she keep the weight off? Most people fail at keeping the weight off and I would argue that the people who do the super-low calorie diets are the least successful at keeping it off, because they learn nothing about how to maintain a loss along the way.

The family went to a local bistro cookie shop and we each got a cookie - peanut butter for me. These cookies are the size of my hand and delish! My nsv was to only eat 1/4 of the cookie and save the rest for another day.

Nope - beans, rice, frozen veggies and fruit (just to name a few items) all come in boxes/bags and are not what most people would consider 'processed'.

Bummer... north central Texas here - we have tomatoes that are almost ready for harvest, first bunch of green beans will be ready this weekend, as will the blackberries! We have also picked the first strawberries as well.

Where in the world are you located? If you are in the US and if you have a Quest lab nearby, you can request your own blood panel thru their website (they have a 'staff' doctor who will order the test in your name). You will have to pay for the test yourself, but you can get it done.

No - BMI is not an indicator of body fat. One can be within the proper BMI ranges and still carry a good amount of body fat (if the person is not very muscular).

Normal BG readings are around 80... 100 is borderline high. Post-prandial (after eating) BG readings are completely dependent on what was eaten. It is not unusual for a person without diabetes to have a post-prandial reading in the high 180's if they have eaten starchy carbs or a sugary dessert during the meal. What needs…

Coffee, black, strong and hot. Don't get me wrong, I like 'breakfast' foods, they just shouldn't be served before noon (IMHO).
