You might not be able to, but it isn't universally true. If I try to do workouts or sports with anything more than water or coffee in my stomach I will end up in the bathroom puking. Having tried multiple times with different foods, I just avoid the issue by working out and then eating afterwards.

We used a dna test to pinpoint the area of Mexico where my wife's mother's family is most likely from. My wife, it turns out, is descended from one of the native Mexican tribes that never intermingled with the Europeans.

First... what is your timeframe for losing the weight? Second, what is your starting point, i.e. what is your current weight?

Not pickled and not raw - any other way works for me. If I am cooking them myself either sunny-side up or scrambled with meat and/or veg is the way that I usually do it. My better half is not a fan but does like eggs and chorizo served as tacos.

Depends on what is chasing me and persistent the chase... :)

Rock, metal, euro symphonic rock, hip-hop if its got a fast beat. I like pretty much all genre's of music, but classical just doesn't give me the umph for workouts. About the only music I don't do is gangsta rap.

I like chunky eaten directly from the jar. Rarely ever eat on bread - unless you have really stout bread the PB just makes a mess when you eat it.

She may be gaining muscle... but for a woman who has diet, sleep and workout completely dialed in, a 1 lb gain of muscle in a month would be a good result. The more likely scenario here is that the op is eating more than she thinks she is. OP, do you weigh your food and log everything that you eat?

Why do you feel eating more calories will help you lose weight faster?
-
You can lose water weight by changing your diet, i.e. going from a high carb diet to a low carb diet w/o changing the calories consumed, but you will not lose fat w/o being in a calorie deficit.

I have been drinking my coffee black for many years now and the secret is better coffee beans roasted correctly. I personally prefer dark roasts but my wife has stomach issues with most dark roasts so we compromised with better medium roasts where the beans are roasted correctly. We have a local roaster here in town who…

I think Ann is on-point with her hypothesis about the 'whoosh' effect. I have seen some research, which I can't find right now, that shows the body actually replaces the fat in the fat cells with water at least temporarily until the body has reached a certain point of homeostasis and then the water is released during the…

There is nothing physically wrong with eating right before bed - as long your food doesn't put you over your calorie allowance - and as long as eating and then laying down doesn't cause issues like acid-reflux. A lot of folks on the site will reserve 'x' number of calories for a treat before bedtime and they have been…

The problem with the food entries is that they are crowd-sourced (users enter them) , so depending on the user, the micro-nutrients may or may not have been entered - or were entered incorrectly. You can search thru the database and find different entries for the same foods that probably have the info that you are looking…

I have noticed that my Fitbit (wrist device) will grossly skew my steps count if I am doing heavy yard work like tamping gravel in a pathway or tilling ground in the yard. Funny thing I have also noticed is that it will count steps when I am riding the outdoor bike, but does not count any steps when I am riding the…

Not really... if you don't eat enough carbs to supply the brain and other organs that must have glucose, your body can and will synthesize all the glucose that it needs from protein and fats. I would fix the above quote to say 'ADDED PROCESSED sugar'

This is experience from outdoor biking, so take it with a small grain of salt... Bike riding is not a strength exercise, it is an aerobic exercise. Unless you are doing severe hill climbs, there should only be enough pressure on the pedals to keep your feet from sliding off. If you find yourself pushing really hard on the…

Agreed... what sets me off is the charlatans (not the PP, but the people that she is getting her info from) that want to ascribe all of these magical mystical properties to IF or fasting or any other thing when those same properties are actually happening as a normal result of the body functioning on a…

The comment was about how the body uses energy and autophagy... not about the survival mechanisms. For instance, the body burns glycogen and breaks down body fat for energy all of the time, not just when fasting. Also, autophogy is not a process that is caused by fasting - it happens 24/7, 365 days a year. Also, autophogy…

First bolded comment - nope... the amount of your deficit is what determines how fast you lose the weight - however you create that deficit. Some people find it easier to create the deficit strictly thru diet, some people find it easier to create the deficit thru exercise or thru some combination of the two. But however…

The minimum sodium level recommended on a low-sodium diet is 1300 mg per day. What most people don't realize is that the body uses sodium (among other things) to balance out other electrolytes. As your sodium levels get lower, so will your magnesium, potassium and I believe calcium. Too low of a sodium level and other…

For the OP - stay the course, it's working (you have lost 3 lbs which is great!). You are seeing results, and while they may be small, they are progress in the direction that you wish to go. Gotta take issue with this response specifically the bolded part. Sweating when working out is an extremely poor indicator of how…

I went 3 months without eating solid foods because of jaw surgery. I ate pasta, eggs, soups and drank a lot of protein smoothies. And no, you have not 'messed up' your metabolism.

Most of us actually have muscle definition in the abs, the problem is that the muscles are covered in fat. If you are doing any reasonably structured lifting program that includes the large compound movements you are working/strengthening your abs. But you still need to get below a certain BF % to actually see the muscle…
