When I first started lifting, I had this problem too. Know I kind of think of them as growing pains. I just kept low weight and lots of reps. It took almost 2 months before it went away. It never her per se, but it definitely was uncomfortable. They hurt a little now that I've upped my weights significantly.

I've had success with the assisted pull-up machine at the gym. I began with my body weight and then lowered it as I got stronger. It took about 3 months of doing it three times a week, several sets. Staying. Mostly I am afraid of becoming one of the people that has to "return". It's great that they come back..but I did not work this hard to have to start over.
