  • We are headed to a nature park for some hiking today, so I packed us some picnic bentos! [ It will be the hubster's first bento]. I went with a charcuterie board themed bento. Mine is on the right and is lower-carb (ie white bean crackers and extra nuts instead of standard crackers and dried fruit). Contents: Top tier-…
  • I'm personally in the "drink lots of water" camp, because I seriously can't tell the difference when my body is saying "I'm thirsty" vs. "I'm hungry." Either I'm a poor listener, or my body is a poor talker. My food cravings are a lot less if I stay super-duper-hydrated (I aim for at least 96oz, up to the 1/2 body…
  • Welcome to MFP. I'm currently restarting on the program, but have been more involved in the social aspect on this restart & am finding it MUCH more motivating than trying to fly solo. Feel free to add me if you would like! Also, 2 groups you might find helpful: 100 + pounds with NO surgery (large, established group & very…
  • @LilSweet2015 I think they are actually red pandas but they do look very fox-like, and it is one of the Monbento boxes. I snagged it in a sale they had on their website a few months back. It's a little bigger than my other boxes, but I love it. I smile every time I see it, lol. [editing to add] I hope you feel…
  • Feel free to add me if you would like. There are also 2 groups you might be interested in: 100+ Pounds with no surgery Fabulous Females aged 25-35 with 100+ Pounds to lose (new & small, but supportive)
  • @madiao Thank you re: the box, it's one of my favorites (it has a matching carrying bag too...cuteness overload)! Regarding the tamago: I honestly have no clue. lol. Beginners luck? This was my 3rd time making it. If I had known one of my favorite things at sushi restaurants was basically made with ingredients I already…
  • @mangrothian the yolk on that egg looks perfect & delicious! (No matter what color the outside is... Lol) My Thursday lunch bento: spinach, olive oil (bottle), raspberry balsamic (fish), dried fig, brie, & bacon for the spinach, & a side of tamago.
  • @Narcissora Great, the ratios above will help get me started! Thank you!! Adding the lime juice is a smart idea, nothing worse than opening your lunch to find an oxidized/brown avocado. Blech. :s Haha, I'm not from Buffalo, but I don't refer to Franks as Buffalo sauce, either. For this recipe, I would probably use the…
  • @Narcissora I love the way that tuna salad sounds & looks? Avocado?!? Did you use a recipe, or can you share the ratios you use for that?
  • On a related note, there's a pretty active PCOS community group on MFP that you might be interested in, it's a wealth of great information & experience in managing PCOS. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/3070-p-c-o-sis
  • I like to chop it up super fine (remove ribs/stems) & saute with oil, a little vinegar/acid (i.e. red wine vinegar or a couple dashes lemon juice), black pepper & sometimes some garlic. Just wilt it down slightly like you would with spinach. I also like it added to soups just before serving (i.e. the Zuppa Toscana recipe…
  • Back to Bento! Thank you all for all of your beautiful posts and the inspiration to get back to bento'ing for lunch. Here is my lunch for today! Bottom tier: baby spinach, shaved parmigiano reggiano, raspberry balsamic vinegar in the fishes, & some Olive oil in the bottle. Top tier: pecans & guanciale for the salad,…
  • I'm in the process of stepping down my carbs & starting over with the LCHF lifestyle (but my husband has explicitly pleaded for me to not go cold turkey on low-carbs this time, apparently I get a bit "witchy" to live with :) ). My "Just One June" is to avoid cocoa & chocolate products. I tend to still use raw cacao in…
  • Of note, @RaeB1013 started a group  The link can be found here for any interested new members: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/106409-fabulous-females-w-100-lbs-to-lose
  • @andisue50 from what "I've" read (which someone please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken), a lot of the dairy concern is with actual milk, and that the insulin growth factors in dairy get destroyed during the cheese/yogurt making process. I know my carb-craving and GI symptoms are less when I avoid drinking…
  • @SpecialKitty7 Yep, those are the ones I was talking about. Although I think our store had an owl one & another one (hedgehog??). I guess a giraffe doesn't qualify as a "woodland creature" does it?...lol They were on the clearance aisle at your store?!? Guess who's going to Meijer tonight... Your lunch looks delish! I wish…
  • I have a 120#'ish range goal & would love to be a member of a small group of women close to my age (I'm 32). Congrats on your progress so far! 24#'s is awesome!
  • At ours, it's in the kitchen/bakeware section, except it's on the "seasonal" aisle of that section (like where they put all of the holiday baking/decorating stuff around Christmas time, the canning supplies in the late summer, etc). Does that make sense? Ours aren't located in the regular lunch-box aisle, but they had been…
  • I have a small Japanese grocery in my area that has a decent rotating selection of Bento supplies... But Amazon.com has a lot of good options too that are affordable & I've gotten a lot of my stuff off there. Also, if you have Meijer stores in your area, they currently have a line of Bento'ish kid lunch kits & stuff right…
  • (Former Bento'er trying to find my way back into the Bento-habit, who has been silently creeping this feed again  ) I have found with salads that I like flavored vinegars instead of dressing or vinaigrette. It can zing up a salad without a ton of added calories. My favorites are red wine vinegar, or I have this…
  • No, I buy the pre-smoked salmon fillets. They are normally by the Imitation Crab in the grocery. An example can be found below, but the selection/brand will vary by store. Packages tend to range between $4-8 depending on weight. I normally go for Wild Caught Alaskan smoked salmon, because of some of the higher levels of…
  • I thought of another low carb lunch solution that I sometimes do that I wanted to share. I make rice-less Philly sushi rolls at home that are really tasty (assuming you like fish/smoked salmon...lol). It's really easy, just put a sheet of nori or soy paper on a sheet of plastic wrap or a Silpat. Top with the sliced salmon,…
  • I had a One, and would frequently forget to clip it on in the morning (& hated the wrist band for sleep tracking). I got a Charge HR about a week & a half ago...AND I LOVE IT. Granted, I have a large bone frame (in addition to being large), so the size of the HR doesn't look weird on my wrist in my opinion, so I can't…
  • THIS, Except said with a very matter-of-fact, disinterested voice. Anyone who would make comments like that has their own serious issues going on, that are totally independent of you. Let it roll, and know you are a better person...
  • I've had a few MFP "false-starts" before too (with a similar-sounding pattern...lol). This time seems better now that I've gotten more involved in the communities, encouraging others on, etc. Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like. Good luck on your journey! You can do it!
  • Nevermind...I should have started w/ FitBit Help. It's a synching issue that should iron out later in the day. I'd delete this post...but it won't let me. lol https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Zip/Negative-calories-sync-to-my-fitness-pall/m-p/715094/highlight/true#M15993
  • I've had my Charge HR for about a week...AND I LOVE IT! :-) Would love some new FitBit pals. My current daily average is around 10k steps...but would love some competition to help bump that up to aid in my weight loss journey  https://www.fitbit.com/user/3CJDWT
  • I've had the bulletproof/butter coffee before & liked it...but had never heard of primal coffee before. I'm simultaneously intrigued, and a little grossed out... ...sounds like something I need to try making this holiday weekend! lol
  • Another vote for the Charge HR. I've also compared my readout when working out to my polar HRM chest strap...and they are pretty consistent. Plus, the traditional watch fastener instead of the post/peg clasp of the Charge is better for me, since I'm a bit accident-prone. lol
  • Also, if you find a way to embrace eggs :) , individual frittatas made in muffin cups (that can be heavy veggie & protein, with the egg just used as a binder) are really good for breakfast or lunch...whether you are eating them hot or cold.
