  • YUM! Tofu?
  • I lost my first 20 lbs on Atkins, and then switched to calorie counting on MFP. I continued to lose, so I concluded that either method could work for me. However... One day, out of curiosity, I went back and read my Atkins food journal. Since I was only (at the time) focused on net carbs, I didn't have any calorie counts…
  • Hahahahahahahahaha! Oh God, I am in. Toxins, PH levels, mean people, zombie thread... This is just an excellent start to a Monday morning.
  • I did C25K this time last year and it was great! I finished my race in under 30 minutes, and ended up being drawn for the grand prize - my weight in beer! I catered my boyfriend's birthday party with my winnings the following weekend. I lost 10 lbs during my training, and fell (even more) in love with running. I…
  • I love Silver Jeans. They always hug me just right! http://www.silverjeans.com/ca/
  • Hi Steph! Congratulations on your loss so far. What kind of exercise do you like? What are your favourite foods? Feel free to add me if you like. I am 27 and about 35(ish) lbs away from my goal. Best wishes!
  • You got this, girl! What kind of exercise do you like? What are your favourite foods? Weaknesses? Identifying these things early on can be a big help. I really love running, yoga, vegetables, seafood, and cheese. My weaknesses are definitely beer and red wine. I am down about 65 lbs from my highest weight and am looking to…
  • Welcome, Ryann. What are your favourite types of exercise? I love running and yoga, but I will pretty much try anything. I love vegetables, too! It's a pretty convenient thing to be addicted to. Add me as a pal, if you like!
  • Think of it this way... First you were down 6.5lbs, then you were up 1.5lbs. That's a total net loss of 5lbs in two weeks! I would say that's pretty stellar. Just keep at it.
  • When I saw this thread title, I initially thought it was going to be a snarky "recipe" to the effect of: "Ingredients: 1 soup pot 1 ladel air imaginations Instructions: 1) Place soup pot on burner and turn on heat. 2) Stir the air in the soup pot with ladel. 3) Lean over the soup pot, breathe in the air, and have warm…
  • I 100% agree! I completed C25K last year and am now doing the 5K to 10K training program. C25k was a freakin' godsend. I used to be an avid runner but fell really badly out of shape and practice. C25K got me back on track. Every now and then I would feel like I couldn't do it or I was having an off day, but I would just…
  • Mixed with Tzatziki, onion, and feta in lettuce wraps!
  • Try cooking it in a tinfoil packet - this tends to work for me when I want to just throw it in the oven and forget about it for a few minutes. Otherwise, I prefer to pan-sear and transfer to the oven as others have suggested.
  • Oh, and forgive yourself when set backs occur (and they will). Go easy on yourself and listen to your body. I messed up my knee initially because my form was off and I tried to run through the pain. Big mistake! If you need to rest, rest.
  • Congratulations! Here's a new future. :D *cheers* As for the 5K, when I ran my first race the things that helped me most were: 1) Downloading an app. (I used Couch to 5K - C25K. It's great!) 2) Signing up for a race immediately so that I have no excuse not to train. 3) Getting a good pair of shoes. 4) Making some sweet…
  • I am running the St. Patty's Day 10k on March 15th! I ran it as a 5k last year and it was tons of fun. Everyone dresses in green and you get fed at the end! Beef and vegetarian stew, biscuits, and even Lucky Charm cereal for the kids. There are some awesome prizes, too. Last year I actually won one of the grand prizes - my…
  • CW: 174 Easter Goal: 154 Ultimate Goal: 140 Let's do this! I am running 3 times a week (training for a 10k) and mixing in yoga, group fitness, and strength training when I can. Anyone who'd like to support each other, feel free to add me!
  • Hey hey! I am in Alberta, Canada and love to run, too! I did my first 5k in March or last year and it was amazing. I am currently training for a 10k race and am hoping to drop another 35ish lbs. (I'll see how I feel once I get there.) Add me if you like!
  • I could never! My cat is turning 17 and is such a huge part of my life. I have had her since she was a month old and I was 11. She will live and pass away warm, happy, and safe with me. No matter how much anyone offers me for her.
  • I have a back injury as well (although it is not nearly as bad as yours - slipped discs, yikes!) and the pain was terrible when I was at my heaviest. I was being prescribed codeine just to get through sitting still on an airplane for a 2 hour flight. My doctor suggested that I start off really slowly with an extremely low…
  • I like it stuffed! Cut it in half, remove and discard the seeds, and scoop a little bit of the insides out (and save for the filling). Roast the halves in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. In a pan, saute the removed inside bits with whatever you like - I like garlic, onion, bacon, and quinoa - and then…
  • "Good thing you're not the one eating it! Please let me to enjoy my breakfast in peace." Done and done.
  • I used to have an issue similar to this when I was younger and I hated wearing a nose plug, too. I learned to blow a small amount of air out of my nose immediately after submerging my head in the water. This would create a little air pocket in my nostrils and prevent water from entering in. Eventually, it became…
  • Have you tried cutting it together with another (lighter) dressing? Sometimes, instead of 2 tbsps of my favourite creamy dressing, I will mix together 1 tbsp of ranch and 1 tbsp of either salsa or a vinaigrette. Personally I prefer vinaigrettes, but when I am craving a creamy salad I've gotta have a little ranch! Nothing…
  • I love grains in general (rice, quinoa, barley - whatver!) and you can pretty much mix anything you want into them. This is me and my boyfriend's favourite quinoa (as a side dish to a protein and vegetable): 2 cups of cooked quinoa (still warm) 1 tbsp of butter 1/2 cup of light feta cheese (crumbled) 2 green onions…
  • I'm around! I just don't seem to check the forums very frequently. Keep at it! :drinker:
  • WOW. That link was one of the most reasonable and thought-provoking things I've ever read on the MFP forums. It perfectly explained an argument that I have been trying to articulate with so many for so long. At the very least, this train wreck of a thread has given us ONE valuable nugget of food for thought! Sadly, those…
