You will probably have to eat some calorie dense food (junk food) to meet your goals. I usually eat a mixture of junk food and healthy food to meet my macros.

A clean bulk refers to eating less calories than with a dirty bulk; it has nothing to do with eating clean foods. Just make sure you hit your macros (protein shakes help) and then eat whatever you want.

I take it daily and I seem to be getting results. There are so many factors involved though, so it's hard to tell.

Quick protein cake: 1. Mix one egg with a scoop of protein powder. 2. Microwave for approximately 50 seconds. 3. Top with peanut butter, sugar free syrup, or whatever you like. Voila!

I'm saying he should eat less food (caloric deficit) first. Then bulk up by eating more (caloric surplus) after he gets lean. He should be doing strength training and working out his abs throughout the entire process.

I would suggest having him go on a cut first. Then after he lowers his BF he could go on a regular bulk or a lean bulk to pack on some size.
