Yes. Gravity is higher here. :)

Which is specifically why I also said: "It's hard to get enough protein if you don't eat meat". I did not say "impossible". It takes a lot of careful food choices. Plus you can eat nuts or beans or whatever to get your protein but they are not nearly as low-calorie as fish or chicken or eggs.
-
"No meat" could be your problem. A lot of people cannot lose on a low-protein diet, and it's hard to get enough protein if you don't eat meat. Start eating a lot of broiled fish, roast chicken, and minimize bread, potatoes, rice, and sweets. Eggs are also a good protein source. Boil up several at a time and keep them handy…

Spirutein unsweetened protein powder in a blender with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 3 ice cubes helps me resist the afternoon munchies for the price of only 110 calories. I can be hungry and brain-fogged and it really helps--- better than eating even "healthy" things like nuts, yogurt, fruit, and even chicken. (and…

I can't get motivated unless I can get myself good and disgusted about my muffin-top. When I get into the mode of "Oh, you're fine, your BMI is in the right range and you look darn good for 55(yikes)", that's when I start eating too many cookies and drinking too much wine. It's a slippery slope. I cannot afford to get…

Mine is 108-- pretty close. I've been in the high nineties as an adult (and looked good) but I have to give myself some slack because of the dreaded slowed metabolism of age.
-
I think I will try that, next time a cookie calls.
-
I'm also 5'2". I'm curious as to what everyone's goal weight is.
-
The above ^^ but also-- changes in diet could be the culprit. I had acne until I discovered that it went away when I stopped eating dairy products. Are you eating a lot of yogurt and or cheese?
-
Not really. I looked at it. There's a calorie counter next to it -- says 1400 cal on day 1, 1200 on day 2, 1100 on day 3, then 1500 for the other four days a week. Some questionable foods in it (hot dogs??), but not a bad balance. But it says you can lose 'up to 10 lbs a week". Right...... :|

Another way to get willpower is to look in the mirror and work up some disgust about your fat. I don't think "body acceptance" is necessarily a good thing, excepting extreme cases. You can still love and respect yourself, while hating your excess, harmful fat.
-
On the other hand: I used to have a lot more willpower, As I've gotten older I've gotten more relaxed and less obsessive about nearly everything in my life. It's way easier to say "One little cookie won't hurt" than it used to be.
-
Logging calories here helps keep me honest. By "honest" I mean I'm less likely to think things like, "Oh one *little* cookie won't hurt..." If I know the little cookie will put me over my limit, I'm less likely to eat it. (I wish I did not have cookies in the house, but I have a skinny teenage boy to feed.)

I like to watch trash TV like "the Bachelorette". Trash TV is so much more entertaining with a glass of wine. Or two. And the wine says "Hey, have a cookie, no big deal". And the cookie says "How 'bout some ice cream with me"? Maybe I should stop watching trash TV.

Yeah, that must be it!! I smoked weed and then ate the entire state of Colorado. That's it.

Oh, no you caught me! (not really, I have to set a good example for my kid )

Yeah, I was thinking most of it must be water--- Which is why I was expecting it to come off in a couple of days. I guess I need to be more patient? I found out also that being at high altitude can increase water retention. We were over 8000 feet most of the time. Maybe that's it.

Hi! I'll PM you later.. in the meantime: I didn't know there was more than one form of methyl-B12. Can you tell me more about that? Thanks.
-
108 lbs. In my 20's I was 100 lbs plus or minus 3 lbs. I've relaxed my expections now I'm older .
-
Yeah, so do I, still ! And it *is* a subtle little motherf***r of a problem. But easily remedied, fortunately!

I know this thread is old, but I'd like to revitalize it. I learned a few days ago that I have the MTHFT mutation on both sites (677 and 1298)-- one bad gene on each site which means I'm "compound heterozygous". That's supposed to be one of the two or three worse possible permutations of the gene. I just started methyl-B12…

Re: ". If your parents/ siblings, wrinkled early, you will probably too. " Actually, maintenance has a huge effect on skin. I've used sunscreen daily since I was 30. And I've used a strong retinol daily for the past 7 years. I have very few wrinkles at age 54 even though I'm fair-skinned. Sunscreen is vital if you want to…

Younger. My jawline is more defined; my face sags less.

I have exercised regularly all my adult life (both weights and cardio) and never had much trouble keeping my weight down until I hit my mid-40's. I'm 54 now and menopause is just now hitting in earnest (meaning no "visitations" for the last 6 months). I recently consulted a specialist in bioidentical hormone replacement…

Do you feel good? Do you have enough energy to do the exercise? If so, then keep doing what you're doing. "Listen to your body" is such a cliche, but it is still good advice. If your body says it's happy, then you're doing OK. (Oh and since you asked, I'm 5'2" and 1200 calories is a good weight loss intake for me. I get a…

I have to belt my jeans in to keep them from falling off.

Keep your blood sugar and insulin levels steady!! This is crucial. Avoid starchy stuff like grains, pasta, bread, and potatoes . Avoid sugary things. Eat meat, fish, poultry, eggs, vegetables, fruits, and good fats like olive oil. Works for me. In fact, this is the only thing that works for me.

I have. 1200 calories of low carb (no grain) eating, some days a bit less. Low carb keeps me from getting hungry. I tried doing 1400 calories for a month or so but nothing happened. So now I do max. 1200. BUT-- I'm short. I have small bones. And I'm older than most of you. Oh yeah-- and I don't eat back exercise calories.
