Eggs! You can buy eggs for cheap. Oatmeal isn't particularly expensive - add in a dash of milk and the cheapest seasonal fruit you can find. I sometimes eat an apple with 2 tbsp of peanut butter.

The people who advocate lifelong changes are the ones who've been down this route, gained all the weight and then seen the error of their ways, myself included. Weight loss is a process of retraining your body and your brain to understand appropriate portion of food based on your activity level.

Don't do it. Most of these "supplements" are not FDA regulated and probably don't go through the same quality assurance process. There was recent news article about how several thousand people end up in the ER from taking supplements that were not prescribed to them.

He means a deficit of 3500 calories, not eating 3500 calories only a week. 1200 calories is the minimum recommended caloric intake for women.

This had to happen :smile: I've lost nearly 25 lbs since June without a stall. It's no big deal. I'll just be more tight with my logging this week and watch the carbs.

I do understand that spouses can sometimes want to sabotage efforts of their partner to change themselves. Maybe she's afraid of change? Maybe she's afraid you'll get too fit and not want her anymore? We all want our spouses to understand our innermost fears and insecurities. For some of us, some foods are real triggers…

Agreed. Heartily. My scary Vitamin B12 numbers comes to mind. My doctor basically said that if I hope to have healthy children, my vegetable only diet simply won't do and unless I was planning to start eating red meat, I'd need to supplement for the rest of my life. Adding a lot of eggs marginally helped.

I'm a vegetarian and cannot even count the number of deficiencies I developed from overdoing vegetables(I hate most fruit). I had to introduce eggs and majorly increase the amount of lentils and beans I ate to balance it out.

The burden of proof is on the person who's touting these "alternatives". And if this type of questioning is "offensive", maybe one needs to re-evaluate their strategy.

If you have fainting problems, definitely don't do anything like it. I've never done a "flush" but I tried doing salt free days just to even out the excessive salt intake and it didn't go well. I fainted twice and I abandoned the idea right away.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I'm one of those women who couldn't lose weight while breastfeeding. I tried it all - logging, weighing food, exercising. Nothing I did would help without hitting my milk supply. But once I weaned, the process has become way more straightforward.

I'm 5'6" and am wearing size 12 jeans right now. It does vary wildly by brand and shape though. I've never been below 8 even at 145.

Thank you :smile: The biggest change I've made is to start consulting a registered dietitian. I realized that I was not able to maintain a good diet with everything that I have going on. The professional help has accelerated my progress.
