LOL You beat me to it!

I lived in a town like that. Usually they would have no problem ordering a book from another library for someone to check out. I'm not sure if they would be willing to do that. If not see if you can find it used on Amazon so that way you aren't out too much if you decide it isn't for you.

I liked 30 Day Shred. It's the only exercise DVD that I have purchased and actually completed. I do like to listen to her podcast. She talks about a lot of different subjects along with exercise and nutrition. I don't agree with everything that she recommends but I have picked up some good things here and there. If you are…

I usually tell people to write out a list of whys. Why do you want to lose weight? What do you want to accomplish (physically and mentally) by reaching your goal? Then I tell them to keep the list on them and read it whenever they feel like falling off their plan or skip a workout. I also think that while motivation is…

Dr. Oz is banned from my TV. Between the raspberry ketones, green coffee extract, and whatever other snake oil he has peddled on his show followed by the congressional hearing, I don't know why people still watch him. OP, I suggest watching this before tuning into the next episode (there is some NSFW language):…

You also need to make sure that you are using the correct food entries. I've seen some be off by a few calories and I've seen some be off by a few hundred calories. Go into the announcements on this forum and read the Logging Accurately thread.

I had mine closed for awhile after I found myself not logging certain items because I didn't want to hear any comments from the food police. I have it open to friends now that I have deleted the people that have a habit of doing that. I really don't look at other people's diaries unless they ask for help. I have one friend…

It's better than the alternative.

I agree with those who suggest to work on some type of craft project. I crochet and it helps keep my mind and hands busy (while still being able to watch tv) and the last thing I want to do is get food on my hands or whatever I'm working on.
-
I don't log my coffee (I drink it black). I know there are calories in it but the damage from not logging it doesn't bother me.
-
Kudos to you if you can decode it the first time you read it. Those posts and ones where every sentence ends with an emoji irritate me.

I figured as much. I've been wanting to ask about it since I've noticed that the general vibe of the forums has changed a lot over the last few months.

I will not read a thread then search for a .gif that sums up my opinion because I never end up posting them. Posting them seems to be a no-no around here now. Not sure why that is but I would love an explanation for it.

This grinds my gears so much that it inspired me to write a blog on how to take progress pictures. I knew someone on FB who would post pics and as her waistline shrank the pile of dirty laundry in the background grew.

If I decide to not to entertain someone's comments by smiling and walking away I don't see it as letting them know that they can get away with it but that what they say doesn't phase me. A lot of times like this people will make rude comments like that just to get a rise out of a person and see their reaction.

Even then there may be a difference. I've had salespeople tell me to grab several pairs in the same size because there may be a difference in how they fit.

If he was making your friend uncomfortable then you should have either let her speak up for herself or given her an excuse to leave that part of the bar (go to the bathroom or ask her to dance, something like that). If it comes down to it, get a bouncer or a bartender to get him to leave her alone, which should have been…

Use 'USDA' in the search, that will help you find the correct one. If you feel the need to double check the NI, you can find it on the USDA website.

My goal is to get to the weight I was when I finished Basic Training. If you aren't sure where to start, I recommend going into the Getting Started and General Weight Loss forums and read the announcements called helpful posts. There is a lot of good information in there on how to set up and use MFP in a simple and…

If you are worried about water damage maybe look into either the One or the Zip. Both of those are clip ons and may be a better option. The One has all of the same features as the Flex and the Zip has a few less features (it doesn't track stairs or sleep) but still does a great job with counting steps and calorie burn.

Stick around and learn what can cause it (hormones, increased exercise, increased sodium- all causes water weight) and it will help ease the stress. When I joined and started learning about these things I stopped stressing over the fluctuations.

Joined! Thanks for sharing. This may just be the boost I need to get back on track.

Good to know that I'm burning calories while watching my favorite shows! LOL OP I have found blogging to be a good way for me to get my thoughts and feelings out about weight loss as well as being a good way to have a record of what I'm doing right or wrong.
-
You are not missing out on much. I checked it out just to see what it was and a lot of the menus were incomplete and/or had inaccurate NI (a lot of the items that I did find were listed as having 0 calories).
-
I agree that opening up your diary will help you get more specific advice. It's not just about what/how much you eat but how you log it as well. There are a lot of inaccurate and outdated entries in the database so if you are choosing those it's very easy to think that you are eating 1200 calories but end up eating a lot…

Comparison is the thief of joy. I can think of 60 reasons why you should be proud of yourself. You have been committed to losing weight for 15 months now. That in itself is an accomplishment.

Looks like this could use another bump tonight.

I find it odd that they would recommend gastric bypass when you are currently 53 pounds overweight (according to the BMI scale). You are doing a great job losing on your own, just keep doing what you are doing and if you are concerned about it then get a second opinion. Don't let his recommendation stress you out.

Your Fitbit is counting all the calories you burn during a 24 hour period, even when you are sedentary. It resets and starts over again at midnight.
