Oh yeah, I definitely am happier about my ability to do normal day-to-day things and be active than I am about fitting into a smaller sized jeans. Slimming down is just a perk, haha!

RA can be hell for the person dealing with it. I hope your able to do the things you want in spite of your illness. :) Are you having to do anything presently to help manage it or are you in remission (if you don't mind me asking)? You're right, that first push is the worst. I spent the first 3-4 weeks questioning whether…

The first thing I though of seeing this was, "Oh hell YES!"

If you have time look up videos that show "Facial Yoga" or "Facial Exercises." There's a road range of moves you can do that will work out the muscles in your neck and face and help with some of the issues. I've done it off and on and I do notice a difference if I do it regularly. It's like any other work out though, the…

Thanks! I keep forgetting how much 20 lbs really is; it's so weird knowing its off my body and the affect it must have caused. I've had Fibromyalgia since I was 14 (or rather I was diagnosed at 14). I was put on a intense steroidal treatment plan for nearly a year while in high school which it put the disease into…

I just posted this, but I'll repost it for you. No magic shakes, diet pills, or pyramid schemes. Just hard work and dedication. I've only lost about 1/3 of the total weight I want to lose, but this still gives you the general idea. I'm 17 inches and 20 pounds down and I feel better than I have in YEARS. I'm aware of what I…

Thank you everyone!! I feel a bit frustrated that I didn't take a picture the week I started and my measurements. By September 11th I'd already been working towards my goals for nearly three weeks! (I started at 222 lbs) It's bizarre to think about how much my body has changed since just this summer. But a good kind of…

Wendy. Albeit a little older. ;)

Looking at all your photos I'm definitely getting a smolder-y Flynn Ryder kinda feelin'.

Anita from 101 Dalmations!

I managed to hold a plank for 60 seconds x3 in under 5 minutes. I haven't done that in YEARS. I'm so excited about my body getting stronger!

Megara!

That is an incredible achievement!! Congratulations!

This is essentially what I have been trying to explain. Great minds, or sumfin'.

As I said in a reply above, I know that VLCD is applicable to a minor percentage of people; those who are morbidly obese and those who need to lose weight quickly for various health reasons fall under this category. I'm not denying that fact. What I am saying is that this is not applicable to people who want to drop 10…

I'm glad I could be helpful. There is a LOT of information out there about BMR, TDEE, the dangers of VLCD, etc. This is just a handful of articles that I was able to find that gave easy to understand hypotheses. There have been further studies on specific endocrine reactions and further study on the affects of caloric…

Credible sources like my kidneys shutting down when I tried VLCD to lose weight? Or how my hair fell out? Or how my immune system took a nose dive and I struggled with fatigue? Or how when I stopped starving myself - surprise of surprises - the weight came back and brought friends? But since you asked! Biology’s Response…

NOPE. OP, please ignore this "advice", it is horribly, outrageously wrong. Your BMR is the amount of calories your body needs at rest. As in, if you were comatose you would need to be taking in that amount to keep your body functioning. Eating below it, especially for long periods of time, is not intelligent. Our bodies…

First thought was Kronk. You know, super strong and fit dude who can climb mountains while carrying a crazy-lady on his shoulders? Yeah, that guy. :D

Spocky just wants to share the love! OP, your kiddo wins at loving and supporting their mother. And YOU win at having accomplished so much! Congratulations. :D

Aladdin. Which Fairygodmother? There are quite a few in the Disney universe...

A similar boat, I'm in one. I have an autoimmune disease and it has been a gradual process to get to the fitness level I'm at now. Eventually I would love to lift, but that could easily be months (more likely years) away. For now I do cardio that is high in resistance to push my muscles and get my heart rate up and then…

Pfft, you're not a duck or a villager. Your Kuzco. Emperor Kuzco. (And the lovely sister is Deedee I do believe)

Chicha! Pacha's wife from Emperor's New Groove (sans pregnancy obviously),

Agreeing with the other replies to this thread, it should definitely get a sticky so that there's easier access to these stories. OP, you've already been given any advice I could think of. I hope you are getting to a healthier place! Now for story time with Auntie Accio! I did a round and a half of HCG ~4 years ago. I…

Yes, long term is DEFINTELY better. You can likely achieve a good bit of physical change through changing your lifestyle and exercise. Squats, weights, etc will help a lot in building muscle (getting toned is merely a media-laden way to say building muscle). But remember there isn't really such a thing as spot treatment.…

Never underestimate the power of a good squat. A great booty do they make.

Yep. This. My husband is very similar to yours, OP. I jokingly call him "Spock", but the moniker is fairly accurate. He thinks in terms of logical explanations and stuggles at times to understand why I might be emotional about something or need a hug when he feels fine. He tries, he gets that he doesn't always say or do…

Bump to read later!

I will preface this will I am rebuilding my endurance and strength after a long term illness, I'm working my way towards bigger and and better things. :) I make it a personal goal to go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I generally will use an Arc Trainer for 45-60 minutes with the incline and resistance both moderately high…
