my Polar doesn't have that neat auto-pause, although I it did, but I always pause my watch if I have to stop.

from my own experience... i haven't been eating them back, like you i think it would be too much/counter productive... i started about 3 weeks ago and try my hardest to stick to my 1200/per day and have felt no negative effects in doing so...

my thoughts are the same as the above, your body is definitely telling you something when you're feeling that way after. but also, is it all the time now that it's warming up, or was it that one day?? and no pun intended but... GO HEAT!!

I've ran 2 races w/ chips and not even thought about it. My advice, Keep Moving Forward and Have Fun! Good Luck!!
