I run outside as I have no access to gym or treadmills. I love it as I don't even need music, there are so many birds around I need to keep my ears out for the traffic. I only started last year and I just managed to run for 7 miles last weekend (there was a little bit of walking, but mainly jog). Don't worry about what…

I'm so glad I'm not alone. OH keeps saying I'm a food monster as I can't stop eating and feel hungery all the time! I started eating healthy (not diet as such, I'm changed my life style) in April this year, I started running in May averaging 14 miles per week, I set my cal to 1700 here and need to eat my exercise cal…

Hello, I set my daily allowance to 1700 cal a day but I do also eat my exerciser cal. I struggle to stay in low cal diet, I run at least 3 days a week with total mileage of around 14 miles + weights or Jillian VD in between those non running days. I started doing a 5:2 fasting this week so you will see 2 very low cal days.…

I started running since May this year and I never run on treadmill before (actually never run before), my advice is just get outside and do it. I was walking most of the time to start with, I didn't care what other people think as they don't know who I am and where I live. But I am never self conscious. I pass people and…

I have 2 cats but one of them thinks he is a dog, he runs to door when door belt rings and he chewed furniture, shoe, door nobs etc. He likes haning out with dogs, he actually left the house and went to our neighbour down the road to snoze with their dog  Their name is Bailey and Layla, both Bengal. Worst habit -…

I don't give up anything, I'm still eating cake, chocolate and oero cookies, I just go for a run on the day if I have my treats (seems to be most days). good luck!

I had a glass of orange juice (2 oranges freshly squeezed), 2 crumpets toasted, topped with greek yogurt, honey and strawberries.

I always cook from scratch, the only ready meal I buy is Sainsbury be good to yourself meal, I freeze them and when I forgot or no time to make lunch, I will fish them out, so I have them maybe once or twice a month. Most of my food is stir fried (being Chinese) and I also use Anna Richardson and Hairy Dieters cook book.

Have a read at the following: http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/beating-injury/injury-when-to-run-when-to-stop/238.html http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_5/194.shtml My knees only bother me after I did a hill run, I'm fine running on flat so I'm going to try a trail running shoes to see if this will make any difference.…

My tricks is to eat what I want, in small portion, then go for a run to burn them off. My problem is that I can't stop eating. :grumble:
-
I keep telling myself the pain/ache isn't going to get any worst so just stick with it and carry on. Also I think about the food I had during the day and this make me want to run it off.

No judgment on open diary, just need some new food ideas (being nosy). I had people told me what to do and what not to eat before... As if Prezzo can swap pasta with quinoa and grill their calamari instead of battering them! lol

Friend request sent, you will find great support here!

I log in everyday with open diary, feel free to add! Well done on what you've done so far!

Seven 7 of all mankind, but so expensive in UK.

I'm on the same boat! Eat less is impossible so I have to exerise more! I signed up to run 10k in Cheddar so I have to push myself to run, I even ran in the rain for the first time yesterday! Will send you an invite.

Depends on what salad I'm having, if plain for lunch at work, just balsamic vinegar, a good quality one. If I'm having fish (scallops, salmon, prawns etc), I like a homemade thai dressing - Chopped corriander, chopped spring onion, cruched garlic, lemon or lime zests and juice, chilli flakes, lots of apple cider vinegar, a…

Is your scale correct? I eat 40g of porridge most day and it looks more like a handful. If you are eating 150g of porridge then you are better off eating 2 slices of wholemeal toast with low fat spread as this is less cal than 150g of porridge with milk.
-
Oh, tips on keep calories down, try using milk alternative if you can't stand water, I use Kara Coconut milk, Almond milk or Hazelnut milk instead of semi skimmed or 1% fat milk (can't stand skimmed), they are about 60 cal in 200ml.
-
50g looks small when dry, but once you put milk / water to cook it, it becomes quite a big bowl. Maybe you need to start looking at portion size, I was shock how much 30g of rice crispy there is... looks like a child portion! :noway:

Check out http://quitsmoking.about.com/od/weightgain/a/metabolism.htm I quitted smoking in March 2012, joined MFP in April 2012 and weight started to drop in Jun 2012. Don't give up, just take 1 step at a time!

Thanks guys, looks like I was the only "wired" one! lol Will carry one training and go and run the route couple weeks before the race, really don't fancy to be the last to cross the line, my tactic is to find the slowest person, then I will just be a little bit ahead of him/her!!! lol Thanks again!
-
Keep going and it will get easier. I was a smoker, I chained smoked for 16 years, I thought I would die with a cigarette in my mouth, but I gave up in Feb this year as I had a really bad flu/virus and decided to give up while I couldn't physically smoke. I started running in May 2012, never run my whole life, and I felt…

Somerset UK here, acutally not far from WSM!

Thanks to all your response, I really hope I won't be the last to cross the line. I am more scare of the steep hills than the actual distance. I will try all your advice and will post my result once I've done it! Thanks again!

Well done! I can't even do half a mile yet. Great job!
