My first mini goal was to be down 10% by end of March, which I achieved as of this morning. The next probably won’t happen for about three months but in the meantime I’m determined to never go above the landmark number I just passed.

Congratulations.

Finding the balance is hard - especially trying to increase protein without blowing your fat or sodium. It's definitely a learning curve for me.

I'm 5'8" with around 100lb to lose. I'll look into adding in chicken at lunch, thanks for the suggestion. I'm also trying to keep my salt intake down as my BP is borderline high. I've no idea how that grilled vegetable soup is so high in sodium.

I've changed my diary to public, but I only started logging on March 1 so there's not a lot of history.

It's currently at 110g per day. I adjusted the MFP default to C 40% / P 30% / F 30%.

Water weight is additional weight you hold through your body holding on to water. It can be related to hormonal swings during your monthly cycle and can also be related to your diet (I believe sodium and caffeine are two big contributors). Note that reducing the amount you drink will not help you reduce water retention.…

I'm on my way. I've lost 18lb and my goal is to lose another 100. I'd welcome giving and receiving support.

One more thing (sorry, I should have mentioned this in the original post). I am not eating back my exercise calories so net I am under 1,200 most days. Could that be a problem? Should I eat back my exercise or raise my calorie intake so that the net remains above 1,200?

Thanks. I know weight loss isn't linear, I just thought the first few months I would be able to keep around the 2lb/week mark. I didn't know that exercising causes water retention - does that go away eventually, or should I be doing something to diminish that? I drink 72-96oz of water a day (no soda, tea or coffee). I know…

It depends if you're concerned about measurements other than calories. I'm watching my sodium and trying to stick below 1,500mg per day (although today is a fail) so I log anything that may contribute, even if the calorie impact is negligible.

Wow! I am just blown away by these photos - you look lovely and so much younger (like, not even the same generation!). Congratulations - and the dress is gorgeous.

Kat, you are such an inspiration. Congratulations on your success.

I'd definitely join.

Hi, I'm brand new. Goal is to lose 120lb which seems really, really daunting.
