  • Okay thanks, good to know.
  • Which app are you using that does distance? I'm curious about this too, and would like to check it out.
  • It says I'm burning about 500, but I always felt that was excessively high. During my job I also tend to walk 6-7 miles, but not all at once and not fast either. Mfp is linked with my fitbit, and most days I end with at least 300-400 calorie deficit, more on running days. It that too much of a deficit?
  • Today was the first day of my journey from 5k to 10k. Last Friday I had a 33:15 nonstop run (only 2 miles though, I know it's not a 5k yet), today I did a total of 45 minutes running, with one minute walk breaks every 10 minutes. I'm following the Zenlabs 10k program. In total I did 3.5 miles in 59:33. I won't lie, it was…
  • Hi, I'm Dee! I've been active in the c25k group, but since I graduated last week, I decided to come over here as I start trying to run longer distances. I live in southern California. I can run all winter long outdoors, but summer is sometimes a problem. I did one 5k last year, I went with my mom and we spent most of the…
  • I use mapmyrun, which I know over estimates calories burned. I am working on a deficit, my mfp goal is 2180, I generally get about 2000-2100 calories a day. I never eat back exercise calories, so what I eat after running is already calculated into my daily total.
  • I just graduated the zen labs c25k today, and Monday morning I'll be going on to the zen labs c210k. When I opened my app, it asked me if I'd done the c25k. I said yes, and it told me to start on week 9. The first 8 weeks of the c10k mirrors the c25k exactly. So you could probably skip the first 8 weeks if you just want to…
  • I graduated today! I actually ran 33:15 minutes instead of 30, because when I looked at my running app I was very close to having 2 miles of running, so I kept going to reach the 2 mile mark. I was super happy when I did it. I felt like shouting and dancing on the sidewalk. It was a real rush of joy to complete this…
  • Trails and roads. I alternate between three regular routes when I run. One is at school which is mostly trail except for crossing the parking lot to reach it. One is the "hard" path near my house that has a fairly sizeable hill, and a choice of road or trail along about 1/3 of it. The last is the "easy" path near my house…
  • I haven't posted for a while, so I have a lot to catch up on. I did .7 miles on Friday (23.89 total), 6.2 (30.09 total) on Saturday, 6.6 (36.6 total) on Sunday, 8.8 on Monday (45.49), and finally 7.9 yesterday, bringing my total to 53.39 miles! That means I've gone too far south, and I'm still stuck in the trees. I didn't…
  • Yesterday I walked 4.2 miles, bringing my total to 23.19. The road rolls up and down. Actually, it really does roll up and down. Yesterday I was walking all over my college campus, trying to get financial aid and then hunting down my old teachers, and then the parking lot was so huge I lost my car and spent 15 minutes…
  • I forgot to post yesterday, but I walked 11.35 miles, bringing my total to 18.99 miles. I'm camping in a firwood just over top of the hill. Slept by a large tree. Fox saw us. I'll post later on tonight/tomorrow morning when I finish today's tally.
  • Cardio today. Started off with 15 minutes of squat stretches, then did a 3.2 mile walk/jog in 54:19. Today was w2d1 of c25k. It wasn't as easy as week 1 but I still managed to get through it.
  • W2D1 I definitely felt the longer runs on this one. Totally time spent running is the same as week 1, but in fewer, longer increments. I slowed down my pace a little, only 3.5mph but I'm cool with that. My goal is to have my average speed be above 3.0mph, so I have plenty of room to show down if I need to. One thing, since…
  • Also a noob runner/lifter! I try to lift twice a week and run twice a week, I'm currently doing strong lifts 5x5 and couch to 5k, and I signed up for a 5k race in June! Feel free to add me!
  • I did 7.64 miles today, so I'm looking back at lights of Hobbiton from first slopes of the Green Hill Country. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
  • Thanks for your concern. I'm only building a bench to sit on, not a rack or cage or anything. I'm using 4x4s as legs, reinforced by 2x4s, but the 4x4s will bear all the weight. I've built things before, and I'm confident in my abilities. If I did build a rack for myself, I'd probably use the plans from Homemade Strength,…
  • Workout A today. I was a little lerry because my last workout A was a disaster, but I took it slow and followed the advice I got here, and it was better this time. Warm up was 5 minutes of walking/jogging, followed by 15 minutes of various stretches from the squatrx videos. This is my third day in a row doing the…
  • This is brilliant! I'm totally going to do this, but I wonder if I should start a new journey now, or already count the miles I've done? And should I count all miles I walk a day (via fitbit) or only the ones I walk for formal exercise (1 hour walk/run 2x week)?
  • Cardio today. Did 3.13 miles in 51:45 min. It was very cold and windy, and the entire time I was praying it wasn't going to rain and ruin my phone. Other than that, I felt good! Forgot to add, since I've been having squat troubles, I've been watching the squatrx videos, and doing about 15 minutes of the stretches they…
  • Congrats! That's a great feeling isn't it? I did my first 5k last year, but due to injury couldn't train for it so I walked it instead. I'm signed up for one in June this year, and this time I'm certainly training for it! I look forward to being able to run the full distance.
  • W1D3 today. I had planned to walk at school on the dirt trails they have, but it's been raining for a couple days, and I didn't want to risk skipping in the mud. So I kept to the sidewalks instead. Not as scenic as taking the nature paths, but cleaner and less hills that way. Total 3.13 miles in 51:45min 3.6mph 1 mile…
  • I have a hard time with squat form. I'm struggling to get to the proper depth, and on my last couple sets I have a hard time completing reps, most likely from fatigue I think. My knees are also bothering me, so I know I'm doing something wrong. I suspect that I'm traveling too far forward when I go down, but I keep…
  • Workout B today. I made sure I didn't skip my stretching warmup but squats are still giving me issues. Squats: 1x5 be, 1x5 12lbs (empty bar), 5x5 17lbs OHP: 5x5 17lbs DL: 5x1 17lbs One thing I notice is that I workout in the backyard next to my shed where I keep the mice that I breed for my snakes, so I'm constantly…
  • I'm excited to see so many people here love the same books I do! I'll list my favorites as the Dresden Files, (did you see Jim's tweet about Justine? AARRGGHHHH!!!!!!), pretty much anything by Patricia Briggs, Diana Wynne Jones, the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews, I'm going to stop there, but I have read and usually…
  • My uncle and my cat died in the same week. I cried more for my cat.
  • I've never heard about women needed more sodium than men, so that's interesting. I'm not overly concerned about the sodium since my blood pressure is always dead normal despite being 50lbs+ overweight, but my dad had a stroke last year and is on a low sodium diet, and that has caused me to take a closer look at my own…
  • Rest day. Best. Workout. Ever. ;)
  • Okay, thanks! I think I'm going to get one as my next "reward" for weight lost, and use it as a timer, but then carry my phone in my back pocket to track my runs. That way I can use my own tunes. I have a large music library on iTunes, but mostly I want it for my audiobooks. I have over 90gb of audiobooks alone!
  • Rest day. Best. Workout. Ever. B)
