Lol, every time I read something like this, I actually get a little jealous because in SoCal I don't really know what cold weather is. I don't have a season where it is too cold to work outside, although there are weeks (or months) when it is probably too hot to safely work outside for long periods of times. Thanks…

W1D2 complete! It was a little harder than the first day, but I also went a little faster. And for the first time I had negative splits! The first part of my walk was the c25k, while the second half was my 30sec/4:30min run/walk intervals. 3.19 miles @ 52:58min, 3.6mph Mile 1 17:20, 3.4mph Mile 2 16:24, 3.7mph Mile 3…

It was one of THOSE days. You know those days. The ones where nothing seems to go right? Yeah, it was like that today. I had a lazy morning, so when I finally got up to exercise, I was running late. I decided to skip my usual stretches because I thought, "I'm lifting less than 20lbs, it won't make a difference." BIG…

Thank you! You make me feel less crazy. I've also yo-yoed in the past, and I know myself. I'm lazy. If it isn't easy for me to maintain, I'm not going to do it in the long run. Yes, I enjoy going out and walking or lifting weights on exercise days, but if it wasn't for my job, I'd probably spend the rest of my time hanging…

I'm also doing SL5x5 on my off days, but the difference is that I started 5x5 first, and gave it a couple weeks to adjust to the program before I started c25k. I also started SUPER light (12lbs bar), and I'm not going up 5lbs every session, just 2.5lbs a week. To me, the running is more important, so while I wanted to get…

I started c25k today. Today was week 1 day 1. I've done the program before and it was always very hard, even the first day, but today was actually pretty easy for me. I think it helped that I've been walking for 3 miles twice a week for the last four weeks.

Did w1d1 today. After starting the program a couple times and always failing out at week 1 or 2, I would say this is the easiest w1d1 I've ever had. I think it really helped that for the last four weeks I've been walking for 3 miles. I did 3 miles today too. The first 1.5-1.75 miles were c25k, and the remaining 1.5-1.25…

I totally get this! As someone who has been sidelined at my job by several back injuries, I know how frustrating it is. I feel like I know better, but it happened anyway, and then there seem to be a lot of people who don't believe you're really injured, and the best one was the doctor that told me I'll just have pain for…

I find that to keep my motivation and not burn out early, I did a few things that really helped. The first was that I do better when I start things in stages. At first I focused entirely on logging my foods and getting used to eating my calorie goals. After a couple weeks, I started walking for 1-2 miles every other day. A…

I'm not working on c25k yet, but I signed up for a 5k in June, so I walked 3 miles yesterday, at just under an hour. I've been walking 3 miles 2x a week for the last 4 weeks. I only missed one day because of a family event. Next week I'm going to start the c25k. I'm only going to be doing it 2x a week instead of 3x because…

I found that by upping my water intake to 1 gallon a day, I became more regular and had an easier time going as well, and I tend to consume 100+ grams of protein a day.

I'm 5'5" @240lbs, and my goal is to lose 10% of my body weight. I realize that only puts me at 216 which is still overweight, but once I get there, I figure I can re-evaluate and decide on another goal (probably another 10%).

Someone who knows bikes was able to look at my bike and adjust my derailleur, and now I don't have gear issues anymore! Even better, I watched him do it, and I'm confident I'd be able to adjust it myself next time. Thanks for the advice everyone!

Did workout B today, still using empty bar on the squats, but I'm starting to feel like my form is getting stronger. 14.5 on the ohp and DL. Ohp felt better today after watching a couple form videos and working on getting my torso tight. Deads are super easy, I kind of feel like I'm using my back instead of my hips to get…

I got it from Walmart, so who knows if they do service in the bikes.

I only got the bike maybe a month ago, and I've been riding 2-3 times a week, about just over 2 miles at a time. I'm a complete noob when it comes to bikes and cycling. I haven't been on a bike regularly since I was in middle school more than 15 years ago, and this is the first bike I've owned in 10 years, so yeah, I'm…

The first time it came off the back, it was getting trapped between the largest gear in the back and the plastic guard that protects the spokes. The second time, it came off the front. I manually put it back on, since I wasn't near home and wasn't about to walk my bike that far, but I was wondering if there was a "proper"…

Hi! You can add me as a friend if you want. I'm 5'5" and 240lbs, and I also have a DDD chest, so I feel your pain! I'm right there with you when it comes to running and push-ups. Right now for exercise what I'm doing is walking 2x a week and a program called Stronglifts 5x5 2x a week. What I like about the SL 5x5 program…

I find that drinking a lot of water helps me to feel less bloated, and when I have cramps, I go on a brisk 10 minute walk and it's better than midol.

Cardio day. I walked for a little over three miles, which took an hour. I thought I was supposed to get faster as I keep walking, but I keep getting slower. I think maybe I need to add a short (20 min?) speed drill to train myself to walk faster. These long slow days seem to be killing me. I need the distance because I'm…

Workout A today. Did 5 bw squats, 5 with the broomstick, and 5x5 with the empty bar. It's s little easier now, but I think I have form issues because my knees are hurting, so I'm going to video myself and see if I spot anything obvious. Bp I added 2.5 so it was 14.5 today, these still felt easy and light. 14.5 with the…

I'm not nearly as active as you, I'm only training for a 5k and just barely starting a stronglifts 5x5 program, but I've noticed on days when I work hard, I have less appetite. I read it has something to do with the hormones that are released during hard work. During mild, easy work releases the "hunger" hormone, and doing…

Send some snow my way, and I will gladly share the warmth with you! (California) Workout B today. I took my time with the squats today, since I had such a horrible time last time. I did 1x5 bodyweight, and held the last one about 10 seconds just to stretch and get a little more comfortable in the bottom position, then 1x5…

I have a newbie question about this. I thought when you failed three times and deload, you were supposed to deload 10% not 10lbs? Or is that what you meant by 10? Because 10% would be 24lbs, and a 10lbs deload seems like much less of a deload. I'm not judging, I'm genuinely curious about this.

So not a weakling! I'm struggling to squat with the bar, and I'm only using a 12lbs standard bar! There's no way I could do the Olympic bar, or even the weights on your shoulders. Cardio today. I walked three miles in a little under a mile. I usually bring an audiobook, but totally forgot it today. I spent the entire walk…

I laughed so hard reading all these posts! Thank you for having the courage to post these. I'll put in my two cents, but mine aren't as funny. I'm slowly building up a home gym, right now I only have a bench, some dumbbells and I just recently got myself a barbell. I usually work out outside because I'm super embarrassed…

I don't have a squat rack or anything, but I'm definitely going to see about building one out of all the scrap lumber I have laying around. I've done body weight squats for a couple weeks now, usually 3x5, but I admit I've only just started learning about proper form and stuff. I even tried with an old broom handle to get…

Hi, this is my first time checking in! I started sl5x5 today, did workout A. It was... weird. I'm using a standard bar with only weighs 12lbs, I did all exercises with only the bar. Squats eye super hard for me. My shoulders were killing me to get back that far, and I probably took 30 secs between each rep just to catch my…

I have another question. This one is definitely female-centric, for and males reading this. Namely: boobies. What do you do with them, especially during bench press and barbell rows? I have a fairly large chest, and they are getting in the way as I'm trying to work out. Any suggestions? Should I be aiming for below the…
