Another vote here for fitbit charge 2- it has some really useful features, I like mine a lot

Great in salad dressing, and useful in concentrate form as a weed killer....I would bet the overwhelming majority of claims about it's miracle powers are apocryphal.

Oh yes, hungry like the wolf! I know this feeling. And I struggled with strategies to manage it for ages. The only approach that has worked for me has been increasing my calories. Now eating 1850 a day and losing consistently on this. (But gaining muscle)
-
Not sure if it's available in the U.S., but have you tried Quorn? It's a mycoprotein that is really low in calories and (in my opinion) tastes delicious
-
I make sourdough rye and roll it in seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, poppy) before baking, yummm. Mmmm I think it's lunch time!
-
I love vegemite. LOVE IT. I rather liked the chocolate with the vegemite centre, I'd be willing to stay open minded about the icy pole incarnation. For those who haven't tried it, do yourself a favour: vegemite and cheese toasted sandwich. Perfection :-)
-
Enjoy them! You don't get hands like that from doing nothing :-)

I have a charge 2 and for me it has been illuminating - prior to getting it, I thought I was eating enough (according to MFP), but would binge eat every now and then. Turns out I wasn't eating nearly enough...since having the fitbit, I've been using the calorie estimate as a guide, eating more and not binging, but losing…

Yep, I can relate to this, I'm newly 42 and just started lifting, I love it! Getting strong, building musclr and seeing some positive changes is really nice at this age
-
I love kayaking - you get to chill out on the water, hand out with some amazing animals and before you know it, you've had a pretty good upper body and core workout
-
I'm in the "don't knock it 'til you try it" camp..They are two of my favourite things, could be awesome put together
-
Probably worth seeing your doctor and having your blood levels done. A lot of people on this site don't know what they don't know. Consult a professional
-
Ha, I've always said humans are the true ethical meat choice :-)...haven't tried us though
-
So many great ideas here. What's been fabulous for me is meal planning and preparation: really takes the "poor decision, impulse control when hungry" out of the equation. Spend a few hours making delicious food really sets you up for the week

We can tell you're knowledgeable because you appear to know what you don't know (referring person back to their doctor). This is so rare in the fitness industry, you should be commended for your insight!
-
Ok this is going to sound strange, but yes it WILL help you if you use it in reverse mode! Concentrate your weight on the front of your feet, you'll feel all those running muscles engage. It's not complete training, but I certainly found it useful
-
That is TOTALLY the kind of mistake I would make! Kinda nice to see there are other folks out there

1200 calories is not enough food. You'll lose muscle as well as fat, your hair will possibly fall out and you'll be more susceptible to binge eating
-
Also nice included in a mixed grain porridge for breakfast

Yep, walking is awesome, you may not love it at first, but you will grow to. I do weights at the gym one day, walk the next. I make sure I prioritise for exercise, I even arrange my work around it. I love the improvements you see with physical activity...great stuff. BTW I'm apple shaped too, all my fat is exactly in the…

Mmm, soup is fantastic! One of my favourites is green pea soup: 1 packet frozen peas, unsweetened almond or rice milk, diced onion, salt and pepper to taste. Fry diced onion until brown, add milk, add peas, simmer until peas are cooked, allow to cool, blend until smooth. Yum!

Imagine a world where everyone had a basic level of science literacy? This whole industry would go broke!
-
Mmm that made my stomach growl! I love my green smoothie in the morning: 1 cup fresh squeezed OJ, 1 frozen banana, about 100gm spinch or kale. Blend until smoothm YUM. Day just doesn't start right without it
-
Some really kind, sound advice here. Be good to yourself, it's the best you can do
-
I think your diet sounds great. There's a lot of variety and potential for some really interesting choices. Don't believe all the pseudoscience out there. It seems every second person has now declared themselves a nutrition expert. I like the Michael Pollan approach: eat real food, mostly plants, not too much

I think it could be dangerous. What would happen if you missed your footing and needed to grab the handle?
-
Yo! I'm a very enthusiastic hiker, love it. I've recently done Everest Base Camp
-
"Forget to have lunch"... I don't think I've ever done that!
-
When I got to the top of the Everest Base Camp trek. I was once morbidly obese

I love this combo too, I make a batch of chilli beans at the start of the week and pre cook the rice too. The variations and combinations are limited only by your imagination. This week its black-eyed bean chilli with black rice, next week I think I'll do chickpea and eggplant curry with red rice. Mmm
