Sweet mother of hades, where do these people come from? Do they actually believe what they say, or are they fully aware it's all bollocks?? Of we slip a little bit of antipsychotic medication, will their self determined healing powers disappear? :-)

My NSV is that I've just returned from the Everest Base Camp trek! Wonderful experience - my fitness was not a limitation. It was interesting to experience the effect of extreme high altitude on one's physiology.

Coconut amino sauce. Damn that stuff is versatile

Hi there, Greetings from Victoria, Australia! Happily free of human children here. I am the human responsible for a number of beautiful animals though

I am reading "hunger" by Roxane Gay. Its a highly relatable memoir of her experience with significant obesity. Amazing read

Ah yes, I travel extensively for my work too! It's so easy to eat rubbish... here's my routine: I have a portable blender, make a green smoothie for breakfast. Soaked oats, chia, nuts and seeds with fruit as a second breakfast. Substantial lunch out somewhere, lots of veg Dinner: try and find accommodation with a…

Wow you look fantastic, and CHECK OUT THOSE ARMS :-)

Ah yep, I'm vegan and mine does that when I'm not hitting my protein goals
-
My current favourite (consumed before a 2 hour hike) 1 cup fresh squeezed OJ 3 sticks celery chopped 1 small cucumber 1/2 frozen banana About 10 almonds, soaked over night Around 2 cups spinach/kale or any dark leafy green Put it all in the blender, blitz until smooth

What a great strategy, I like your work there

Rolled oats as we buy them from the shops have been dehydrated to remove enough moisture to preserve them - they aren't mouldy (that's just woo from the anti-grains crowd) they aren't technically raw either as they're heated during processing.

I have a VERY green smoothie every morning: 2 big handfuls of spinach, 1 small cucumber, celery, tangelo juice, banana and some soaked almonds. 3 - 4 serves of veg in one hit and powers me through my early hike. I can recommend it as a great way to start the day

I'm a mad keen hiker, currently training for the Everest Base Camp trek in 4 weeks time! Am doing 2 hours a day, 6 days a week with a total of 1200m ascent/descent each time, carrying a 20kg pack for conditioning. It's really hard but I figure it will have me in good shape for the actual trip

I eat like a brontasaurus: Green smoothie: banana, celery, cucumber, tangerine juice Second breakfast: apple, blueberry Lunch: kale, sweet potato, pumpkin, tomato Dinner: lentils, carrot, capsicum, onion, coriander, zucchini So that's 4 kinds of fruit and 12 kinds of veg

This is really, truly sensible advice

Throw some protein powder in most of your meals, that'll bump up your intake
-
Not eating enough, being crazy hungry a lot of the time, being obsessive about calorie deficit an how much weight I'll lose, then binge eating when I failed to meet my own expectations. I know recording everything works for a lot of people, but it also doesn't work for some folks.

I give all my "leftover" food to my chickens, the worse it is, seems the more they like it. Let them turn junk food into nutritious eggs :-)
-
Wow, that's a huge step to start! Well done, I hope you feel good from the exercise
-
I make a nice big container of bircher muesli : soak oats, chia, seeds, nuts and fruit in milk of your choice + low fat greek yoghurt and you'll have a delicious breakfast that will keep you going for hours.

They're all good! Just make sure you rinse them well. Lentils are also a great addition to salad
-
Hey, so good to read these posts - that's how I eat too. Generally soup and salad (two kinds) lunch and dinner...get about 10 serves of veg a day :-)

It's a fad, I doubt if there is any legit, peer reviewed literature which actually supports this as a good idea. Instead, aim for long term, sustainable behaviour change.
-
Tins of beans and lentils are great to take on trips like this! Easily turned into a meal and give you lots of energy and fibre
-
It's great for dry skin and as a leave in hair conditioner...but the dietary benefits widely espoused lack evidence and are mostly marketing. I believe the peer reviewed literature suggests it's just another source of saturated fat and therefore best avoided

Perfect analogy!

Walking is fabulous for so many reasons. And if you want to make it harder, without running, use a weighted pack - very good conditioning and gives you a great workout. I maintain any exercise you're actually doing is a good kind of exercise for you

The orange cauliflower makes the most divine creamy soup - cut the head up. I just use sautéed leeks, stock and cauliflower, if I have it I throw in some dill one its all been pureed
-
I've been walking uphill with a weighted pack, today I tried on an old pair of close fitting jeans - they fitted around the waist, no problems - but they were tight around my calves. I have muscles on my leg muscles!

Chia porridge - chia seeds soaked almond milk, add cinnamon and berries
