  • Great responses. I will have to take a look at the Stronglifts 5X5 program. I am looking for something I can adopt rapidly and get started on something as I learn and develop. I am looking for something for general health and it sounds like this is a good start. I see so many people looking for the perfect workout and plan…
  • I usually weigh every morning and night (when I am in that bathroom). As far as MFP, I track my weight on weekly weigh-in--same day of the week in the morning.
  • For me, I try to eat 1700-1800 calories daily and do a cardio workout 4X weekly doing 60 minutes on an elliptical trainer resulting in an 1100 calories workout. I don't eat back my exercise calories. I have been losing about 3 lbs per week and expect that to slow as I lose weight and get in better shape.
  • In the winter I like oatmeal with fat-free greek yoghurt with some sort of berries.
  • I think for most people, exercise is not consistent. I do a ~1000 calorie workout 2 - 5X weekly. I choose not to eat back my calories but if I did I would try to average them over the week. I don't want to be eating 1700 calories on days I don't exercise and then 2700 calories on the days I do. I have heard people use…
  • I was a big Diet Coke drinker. I decided to stop drinking Diet Coke (as well as all soda) and decided to lose some weight. As part of that, I decided to "drink zero calories"--no soda, smoothies, juice, beer, wine, alcoholic beverages. I largely drink water and ice tea now. Although I have had a few minor transgressions,…
  • I don't worry about tenths of pounds. A cup of water weights about 0.5 lbs.
  • Here is what you need: Under MY HOME, select Goals and Change Goals. Then select Custom and Continue. Here you can manually set many aspects of your Goals. Good Luck.
  • I started out with a more aggressive goal. I am right at 1700-1800 calories daily but I am not adding calories (or very few calories) for any exercise. I shoot for 4000 calories a week in exercise. It seems to be working pretty well for me but will probably increase my calorie intake after I hit the 3 month mark.
  • I have the same problem. For three months I decided to "Drink 0 Calories". I have given up soda, fancy coffee drinks, juices, beer, wine and any other drinks with calories. So far it has been a big help for weight loss but not willing to give it up long term. I will have the same challenge when I re-introduce it.
