@AliNouveau, thanks for the family history and the encouragement. I have a long history of athletics and learned a lot from my dad........I was the BOY he never had, lol. I intend to keep working on strength and mobility until I can't do it anymore, hopefully that is many years down the road..........LOL
-
@mkculs I agree totally. I am not giving up on life until they cart me away and I hope I will have lived to a very ripe old age.....LOL
-
@mkculs, I think you're observations are probably right on, I just have trouble sometimes accepting my limitations....uggghhh
-
Thanks for the response @AliNouveau and good luck with the shoulder, they can be the worst. I grew up an athlete as well and I think that became a part of our DNA, for better or worse....LOL
-
I guess because I'm older than dirt this is not that interesting.............LOL
-
Thanks for the response @SummerSkier, I think age and flexibility have something to do with our injuries but I refuse to just give in............LOL I have learned however, how important it is to be a little more careful and to give my body time to recuperate.

As a SR member of this group at 68 I'm sharing a link to a blog I wrote about injuries and how to overcome them, a bit of a surprise for me but "Whatever Works" right? https://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/luluinca/view/injuries-and-the-gym-or-not-957008

Thanks @Trina2040, it was expected but still a shock in some ways. We took care of her here at our home with the help of Hospice. Honestly, I'm just glad I made different decisions and worked for health before it was too late!

I'm still here at MFP as well. Haven't checked into this group in quite awhile but it's nice to see everyone still working toward their goals and/or maintaining. I've maintained about a 70 lb weight loss for over a year. Still hit the gym lifting weights and swim/run/walk on other days. I honestly think I'm in better shape…
-
LOL, I suppose if I want to draw people in I need to put something in the title other than my age....I get that!!!
-
Ann, it's interesting, and one of the best things about MFP is that I CAN discuss my physical goals, exercise routines, nutrition etc here and only here. I never discuss what I do at the gym or how many miles I'm running or what I'm eating and not eating in real life. I will if someone seems genuinely interested or wants…

@Skyweigh, I'm 67 and we had dinner last weekend with two other couples we've been friends with for over 40 years. I'm very involved with taking care of my 64 year old sister in our home who is on hospice and dying from throat cancer, and so I was so looking forward to getting away from home with my husband and unwinding…

As we age it becomes, admittedly, a bit more difficult to get our bodies in sync with our minds and what we'd like to do or who we want to become. Sometimes it's injuries or illness and other times extra weight makes it difficult. In my mind, the thing to remember is that whatever limitations we have now, or had in the…

@1Nana2many, I would never judge another person's journey here. There are lots of roads to the same destination and whatever works for you and hubby is unique to the two of you. I would love it if my husband would do something proactive about his health, so to be honest, I'm a little jealous that you've been able to have…

I was born in 1950 and one of the favorites at all of my parents' parties (and they threw a lot of them) was Rumaki. Chicken liver and water chestnut wrapped in Bacon and broiled. I can't tell you how many of those were absolutely devoured at our house. Might be too similar to your bacon wrapped dates though and I'm not…

A very simple wish for all of you this New Year's Eve! It's really not that difficult to check in everyday, it may be a good day or it might be a bad day............but just check in anyway! We're all here for you! Happy New Year and I hope you all have a happy and healthy 2018!!!…
-
@Evanutt, we live in So Cal in the Riverside County area. We're having a very warm fall and winter here so far. I have to visit my kids and grandkids in CO to get any kind of weather this year......LOL
-
@1Nana2many, thanks, our daughter waited a long time for this and we're all just thrilled. Nothing like new grandkids to keep us motivated!
-
Thanks Ann, your words mean a lot to me!

Wishing all of you a very Happy Hanukah or a very Merry Christmas.............let's just celebrate! Some of you know we moved my sister in with us over the Labor Day Weekend, she has cancer and is now on Hospice. It's a very sad moment in time for me but as things seem to work according to a more divine plan, we welcomed…

I've lost 70 lbs and am more active than I was in my 40's. I started here in Sept of 2013 after a very serious and life threatening illness in 2012. When I received a clean bill of health I decided to take charge of my health and haven't looked back. Below are pics of me at the gym and also hiking with my grandson last…

Checking in to say both Hi and Goodbye. My life got turned upside down between yesterday and today and so I know I just won't be able to keep up with the requirements. I've lost the 5 cushion lbs I wanted to lose before the holidays and so I'm back on maintenance and will always log and get exercise when I can. It's become…

Okay so I managed having a good day today even though I ate pumpkin pie..........LOL My youngest daughter is pregnant and was supposed to have her baby in the middle of December but her water broke today and so we're welcoming our grand baby into this world a little early. Today was fine as far as the UAC goes but all bets…

Ate some leftovers today from our dinner yesterday and still stayed under calories. I've lost almost 2 lbs this week so I'm going back into maintenance again. I know some of the loss was just eating light after dental surgery but I managed to get the 5 cushion pounds off I wanted plus a couple extra so I'm going try to…

@RangerRickL, really enjoying the photos you've been sharing. Looks like a beautiful place to spend some time!

Hmmmm, nice topic for a Sunday as we approach the holidays. I learned so much from my parents it would be very difficult to detail all of it here. My father was a bombardier in WW2 and attended USC on the GI Bill before I was born. This was a unique opportunity for him as he came from a very poor family and he made the…

I think my NSV is that I managed to stay on track, exercising and tracking food even though I had dental surgery on Tuesday. Actually, I'm quite certain that wouldn't have happened if not for this group. Yesterday morning it was drizzling during the only real time I had for a walk and normally I would have skipped it but…

Forgot to sign in last night. My daughter is here from San Francisco with her husband and we played games after dinner and I just lost track of time. I did keep everything under control though yesterday. Exercise: Yes, got my dog out for a 35 minute walk in the drizzle. Calories: Yes, I've been easily under all week…
-
Exercise: Yes, I took it a little easy on myself because of dental surgery Tues but got in about 70 minutes between a warm-up, elliptical and strength training (legs). Calories: Yes, I've been under all week and lost the last pound I really wanted to so I could be at the lower end of my maintenance weight. I may have to up…

Oh my goodness, that's one beautiful flower. We'd never see anything like that in our dry CA climate.
