I'd consider going to a PT, and for a while at that. You need to learn how to move different so as not to hurt your back, and developing that muscle memory takes time. I'm still doing more jog/walking but it's a start. I wear Brooks glycerin shoes with an orthotic I was fitted for by my PT and also wear an SI belt. Also,…

Totally worth it. I've had two pairs of Lululemon yoga pants for over 5 years. One pair is a 10, the other an 8. Both cope with the ebbs and flows of my weight/shape and don't ever stretch out after wearing. They still fit and look great after wearing twice a week for years. A good practice is to go through the website and…

So awesome.

I make my own granola to have on hand on those mornings where I'm dying for cereal. For bread, we have only been eating sprouted grain stuff: Ezekiel or Silver Hills Big 16. Protein content is so high that it keeps us full, and I suspect our bodies are having an easier time breaking it down. Any other time I'm making…

I get a lot of my protein cals from local pastured full-fat cheeses and homemade greek yogurt from local pastured 2% milk. Ooh, eggs, too.
-
For cream -- just make sure it's the organic pastured (read: cows that ate grass their whole lives) stuff.

Have you seen Clean Eating magazine? They print helpful two week meal plans. I've been eating clean and would love to add more friends who are doing the same! I eat a lot of eggs, local whole-fat pastured dairy products, sprouted grain breads, and homemade Greek yogurt. I eat a lot of wild turkey and venison and supplement…

Wow, how'd you pull it off? Cold turkey? No sugars at all, or just the refined and/or extracted from corn varieties?

Fructose is actually really terrible for you. I looove sugar but it has a deleterious effect on just about everything. Read this: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/17/magazine/mag-17Sugar-t.html?pagewanted=all The video linked in the first paragraph is eye-opening and terrifying.

For me, honestly, it was reading The Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defense of Food. I've always known that I should steer clear of white flour, bleached sugar, cheese food product, corn syrup, and genetically modified proteins, but never fully realized the actual health implications in terms of how my body digested all of it.…

I've been training for my first-ever half since early April. Just ran 9 miles on Saturday and can't believe it!

I still haven't figured out what I need to eat specifically in order for my body to lose, but in a last ditch effort of frustration I started calculating what I was eating with MFP and converted it all to Weight Watchers points by way of Ultimate Weight Watchers Diary on my Droid. I'm finally losing! I've been eating tons…

Weight watchers is the only thing that's historically worked for me. I've been doing MFP and using its nutrition calculators to input entries into a free app on my phone that calculates points plus. Having free reign to consume fruits and veggies helps me a lot. The app is called ultimate weight watchers diary. You pay $3…

I adjusted the bejesus out of this recipe to reflect what I had on hand and work with my main course, but holy moly what a great idea/inspiration! I used shallot/mushrooms/spinach/asparagus for my veggie component and light Swiss with a tiny bit of Brie for cheese. Added a pinch of nutmeg and voila! Thanks so much- this…

I would love to do fondue but don't know how I'd make that happen in an even-close-to-healthful way.

I customized my settings to reflect what my personal trainer had advised me -- 1.4g or protein per kilogram you weight. It's not startlingly higher than what MFP had suggested for me, but the adjustment bumped my recommended protein intake to 98g/30%.

If you're rooting for the Giants, this is a no-go, but I found a recipe on the kraft website for a light boston creme pie. Angel food cake, cool whip lite, sugar free vanilla pudding. Lots of processed crap, but low in fat.

I'm going the Freeway to 10k route because I like the podcast so much. It's 9 weeks instead of 6 and starts with shorter intervals. I felt really sore the last week of C25k and definitely felt "off" on W1D1 of F210k. I ran W1D2 yesterday and felt pretty decent, though! I was running four minute intervals at 6 mph and two…

Hey ladies! I'm 5'11" and my weight has hung out somewhere near 160 for the last several years. The highest I've gotten is about 172, and I just don't like the way I feel or how clothes fit at that point (it's already hard enough to find pants that fit!). I'm just starting with MFP and am definitely looking to have friends…

Been a while since I had to invest, but Express used to carry some nice black pants for the longer-limbed. I'm 5'11".

Avocados and beet greens!

That's a gold mine, right there. Thanks for posting! I'm not sure it's in my best interest to make bars -- I'd eat em all within a few days.

Freeway first week: 5 min warmup, 4 minutes on/2 minutes off repeated 5 times, and 5 minute cooldown. Bridge is warmup, 10 minutes on/1 minute off repeated 4 times, and five minute cooldown. Really, it's 9 weeks. The 10 week mix is more or less a "bonus." Since I can't find a podcast for Bridge, I'm going to stick with…

A little late to the game, but I started the Freeway to 10k last night -- listening to the podcast mix on my nano works better for me. My pace was pretty slow -- about 12 minute miles. I completed First Day to 5k last week and was averaging about 10 minute miles. Hopefully yesterday was just a fluke :) How many days a week…

I'm leaving for Costa Rica in eight weeks! I'm hoping to lose about ten. I've been working out a lot but only started tracking food two days ago.

I'm just over 5'11". I did weight watchers a few years ago and got down to 155 but being fit had nothing to do with it. My goal is 140 - 145, but I'm curious what 150 will look like after I've been holding myself to a fitness routine.

I can't believe it, but I completed Week 9 Day 3 on Friday! I highly recommend downloading the podrunner first day to 5 k podcasts - they really helped. Every time you approach a run that seems like it's going to be hell, remind yourself that you're able to accomplish whatever bit of running time you have left - because…
