  • Yes, teachers are mandatory reporters. However, Doritos isn't exactly abuse. And it isn't the teacher's job to raise someone else's kids. Nor do you really know what's going on in the kid's family or home. So if you don't want her to have energy drinks, ask the school to make a policy. And if you want the government to…
  • Thanks. It's a pisser of a disease. But I think we are all making peace with it and Mom is at the stage that she doesn't know any thing is wrong. Which is good for her.
  • Because I have a three year old daughter that I want to be there for her wedding and to hold her children. Because my mother and her mother have Alzheimer's and I would do anything to help reduce the risk of putting my daughter and family through the pain of that disease. Because diabetes runs strongly through my family…
  • Damn skippy! Now that's how to woman up!
  • We moved back to SA just before Christmas. I am loving being back- the parks alone make the move worthwhile. I am loving the green belts for early morning jogging.
  • That makes me laugh! Hard! I find that if you just keep eating something, you learn to enjoy it. Either that or your tastebuds just roll over and give up. I used to hate cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, but now find them quite nice when I roast them (not big on boiling as I don't like the texture and it releases the…
  • Any favorite places to go play or run in SA? I've been considering the River Walk some early Saturday morning but haven't braved the drive yet
  • San Antonio here. We recently moved here from Abilene. I'm loving being back in the River City!
  • This. So much this! I finally broke down and bought new shoes at a specialty store and after one run today I feel a major difference. My feet would hurt so bad after my runs that I sometimes didn't want to run. Today my feet are sore but not in pain. Huge difference. And I love c26k. I started without it and recently went…
  • Good luck with your journey! MFP has a lot of great features and support. Feel free to add me as a friend. The more the merrier.

  • Amazon has a lot of stuff. I like the justBento site as well- I need to look into getting the book! We have a Container Store near by. That place is lethal! So I try to avoid it. But it does have some neat boxes that I am dying to get. I personally like the metal boxes, but there are a lot of super cute boxes out there.
  • I didn't photo mine today- just a sammich, apples, grapes and some cheese. But basically you can start off in ziplock containers. You can get real bento boxes (I love mine) at an Asian grocery store- generally I pick up mine from the Korean store not too far away. Also you can find boxes at your local grocery store. Some…
  • Not a bad idea- at least for when he's not working. On days he works, he has to leave before the daycare even opens and doesn't get back until after 8pm usually. But he does have a lot of days off.

  • Oooooooo.... Nurse thread! I am a home health RN- so long hours driving Mon through Fri. I would love to work out in the mornings, but I have the little one to take care of most of the time. Hubby is a baby nurse doing 12s at an ortho unit and can't always get the baby up and to daycare. I just ran, well, walked-jogged, my…
  • I do the majority of the cooking for the family and try to make things that the 3yo, my husband from an entirely different cultural background and I enjoy- sometimes I hit it out of the park. Sometimes I swing and miss. Also, I tend to try to make sure I offer veggies at every meal. But, sometimes he likes to cook. Which…
  • I think snacking might be an entirely individual thing. If you find snacking keeps the bingies away, go for it.
  • Rice- you can dress it up in a lot of different ways without adding too many calories. Chicken stock and poultry seasoning or tumeric; chicken stock with parm cheese. Etc. Sweet potatoes- sure higher calorie, but good nutritive bang for the buck. Barley, savory oats ect.
  • That's wonderful! You have done an amazing job.
  • Gluten free roast beef and salami sandwich with Laughing Cow light Swiss cheese and mayo. Celery with pub cheese (I wish I hadn't discovered pub cheese!), carrots with hummus and blackberries. Total: 519 calories of yum!
  • I can barely make it through a 5k in an hour and my husband can knock one out in about 30 minutes. I hate watching him run! He was military when we met, so he's had keep up his fitness and continued after he retired. I have always been much heavier then he has. But I am working on it now- and enjoying my slow-mo 5k much…
  • Could be worse. Found my husband's damned cat (I refuse to claim her) eating the spaghetti sauce that was going to make up my lunch tomorrow. I hate that cat. She even steals food right out of the 3yo's hands. Back to square one. Sigh.
  • Focus on yourself and the kiddos. They want a happy, healthy momma. I hope things smooth out for you soon.
  • I am not single, however, I am mostly responsible for everything house-wise and child-wise. I work full time as well. If I can, I try to get off work early enough to work out before I pick my daughter up from daycare. But sometimes I take her for a walk with me, I generally end up carrying her, but hey- extra oomph to the…
  • Check out the frozen bulk meats. They are generally much cheaper then fresh. Also, keep a close watch on sales and buy large amounts and freeze what you don't use. Get a deep freeze if you can afford it or have a spot for it.
  • Today's lunch- Lettuce wraps- one with hummus and the other with guacamole and roast beef and salami. Blackberries and strawberries. Pecans and sharp cheddar cheese. Total calorie count 529. With a P3 pack for "second breakfast" I am good to go!
  • I figured I would like the cold water anyway, so I just tossed it in. And it worked very well. Everything was cold when I ate lunch. I thought about the sponge and ziplock trick, but since I need to drink more water anyway....
  • Proud new owner of an insulated lunch bag, so about to see how things withstand being in a car in the warm spring weather. I figure I'll toss in a frozen water bottle and hope for the best! Lettuce wraps, one with chicken and guacamole and the other with chicken, roast beef and avocado dressing (trying to see which hold up…
  • I have to eat gluten free. Have to. And it effing sucks. The gluten free alternatives generally taste godawful. And they also generally have MORE calories, fats, sugars and weird ingredients then their regular counterparts. If you are going to swap out dairy- well, whatever floats your boat. But gluten free products are…
  • @SpecialKitty7‌ You'd probably like them. They are slightly sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. At 45 calories a roll, I really love them. I usually get them at the Korean store near my house. They come in a huge pack. My hubby whips through them like wildfire though!
