  • Level 1 Day 1 completed at 5 am!!! Anyone else feel like that is the longest 20 mins of your life? Haha. I had surgery about a month ago and I haven't worked out since, so I knew it was gona be tough. It wasn't AS bad as I thought though; I think I'll stick to level one for about 5 days, then move on to Level 2. My legs…
  • I'm in! Feeling a little under the weather lately, so I've been waiting to feel better, but I'm getting sick of waiting!! I'll start tonight when I get home from work. I'm so excitedf after seeing some of the before/after pictures on other threads :)
  • I took a week off and gained 7 lbs!!! When I stepped on the scale Monday morning, I wanted to cry. I do this to myself at least once a month. The same 6-7 lbs. comes and goes SO quickly. After two days of eating healthy/working out/pounding water, I'm now back down, but it's so frustrating to think of where I'd be if I…
  • Good for you!! You deserve to focus on yourself :) good luck!
  • You described me to a T!!! If I slip once during the day, I decide that the whole day is ruined so I might as well just wait until tomorrow to start over again. I can't even count the number of times I have done this. And like you, I too wonder if I'll be able to keep this good habits for the rest of my life. The thought…
  • AGREED!!! If I can't be a real princess, I certainly don't want to watch some stranger become one!
  • Welllp, I have the stretch marks AND the loose skin, AND no children to show for it. Just a lifetime of poor decisions and regrets in regards to my body. I think you should do what makes you feel good--even if that is surgery. I plan to start saving for mine asap. I feel so discouraged sometimes to think that I did all…
  • Although you do burn calories while strength training, you don't burn nearly as many as you do during cardio. The faster your heart beats, the more calories you burn. I have a heart rate monitor/watch that I wear from the beginning of my workout (strictly cardio) to the end (strength training). I then input the total…
  • OMG yes you will see results!! I lost 30 lbs in one summer just by walking briskly for 30-45 mins a day! The goal is to walk as quickly as possible, without actually jogging. Similarly, research shows that interval training, even walking at different paces, will get you the quickest results! Good luck :)
  • I absolutely agree with jhandley! However, I strongly suggest you talk to your doctor about it first. I lost 42 lbs about two years ago, and I have 20 more to go. My body truly seems to like where it's at, and I've changed around my diet and excercise, and the weight just wasn't coming off. Similarly, no matter what I ate,…
  • I also go over on my protein everyday, but I realized that if I don't, I'm just ALWAYS hungry. I will say, however, that I spoke with a friend of mine who is an athletic trainer and she told me that your body can only metabolize so much protein; after you've reached that amount, it turns to fat just as excess carbs would.…
  • Hi guys! Thanks so much for your advice. I'm consistenly over on my daily protein limits, and I was told my a friend who is an athletic trainer that your body can only metabolize so much protein before it turns it into fat, just as it would excess carbs; so I have tried to stay within my daily protein goals, but I almost…
  • I agree that it can be so frustrating; but just keep in mind that your body weight can fluctuate up to 5 lbs in one day! I try to not panic over a few pounds discrepancy. You said you weigh yourself at the same time of day....do you weigh yourself in the morning before breakfast? I have read on many occasions, and I…
  • I agree that finding a good instructor is SO hard! I've been to over 4 gyms in 2 different states, and have only found 2 instructors that I really like. I just wore my HRM to class tonight for the first time, and was SO excited to see that I burned 520 calories in 53 minutes! That's amazing!
  • I agree that it's absurd think they are losing up to 110 in just 10 weeks!! However, I read an article in one of my magazines from previous contestants who claim that even though the show says it's only been a week, the actual weigh-ins do not happen that frequently; similarly, the contestants claimed that people do all…
  • Thanks so much everyone! I'm definitely gona do a little more research. Your posts helped :)
  • I tried it, and it was TERRIBLE!! The nasty side effects (oily discharge and uncontrollable diarrhea) far outweighs any good it can possibly do. It blocks the absorption of some of the fat you eat, and it claims, that as long as you're careful and eating the right foods, you won't experience the side effects. I found that…
  • Hey, that's how they do it in Europe, and look at those skinny little European women! There must be some merit in it.
  • The issue may be that you're not eating a proper, balanced breakfast! That could be why you're feeling sick. I know it sucks, but I try to wake up a little earlier to make sure I can get a good breakfast in before I have to get ready for work! Just a suggestion :)
  • MRobbins--that is a very small amount of calories! I'm having the exact opposite problem. Can you share what one of your days look like as far as meals go? Like, what do you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks?
  • I def agree; I don't want to be skinny. I do want a flat stomach, though. Anyways, here's my advice. First of all, it truly depends on your body's natural makeup; some people are just naturally more curvy than others. I for example, have NO butt whatsoever. Like my butt, is basically just an extension of my thighs. There's…
  • WOW! That's a whole lot of weight to lose in under a year. Just be careful you're not losing too quickly. Good luck though! I know you'll do great :)
  • Mandi--I actually do eat quite often throughout the day. I read in one of my fitness magazines that a fairly large breakfast is best for weight loss (balanced of course). I snack throughout the day on healthy little snacks as well, and I try to eat a lot of fiber. I still find myself getting hungry though, and today, I…
  • HAHA! I just realized that the site put stars because it thought I was using profanity! I was asking if D i c k s Sporting Goods carried the monitors!
  • What retail stores sell them?
  • About how much to those heart rate monitors cost? And are they uncomfortable?
  • Thanks for the support guys! I'm just going to keep trying to stay as close as possible to my daily goals as possible, but I refuse to let myself starve all day long. @justsalad--I drink green tea ALL day long! But you're right, I probably should try to drink more water! @kaytbognar--Thanks! And you're right. I guess I…
  • Ughhh! I'm so mad at myself/frustrated! I decided that today I am REALLY going to put forth my efforts in doing exactly what I have to do. I went and worked out after work, I feel that I ate reasonably less and better than I usually do, but I went over my calories by like 186 calories. This is the issue I've been having; I…
  • Thank you all for your support. It really helps to have people to hold myself accountable to, and who understand where I'm coming from! Good luck to all of you as well!
  • So I'm pretty new to this site; I just joined a few days ago and I saw this group and LOVE it. It's nice to know that support exists and others know what I'm going through. I am 6' tall and have been an athlete most of my life; after a knee injury in college, I had to quit basketball and as a result, BLEW up from lack of…
