If you've never run a 5k before, you could start training for one to give yourself a kickstart.

Sometimes listening to music helps take my mind off of it.

You mentioned that it seemed to help with cravings. Food cravings in general? Carb cravings? Do you feel less hungry?

I use an app called Pact. It offers small monetary rewards for working out, but more important (for me, at least), it penalizes you when you don't work out as often as you promise. You can set your own penalty to be large enough to motivate you. Right now, I promise to work out five times per week. My penalty is only $5,…

Is there any chance the treadmill was calculating based on a default weight instead of your actual weight? Fitness equipment tends to overestimate calorie burn, not underestimate, which is why I ask. http://www.prevention.com/food/healthy-eating-tips/8-things-you-dont-know-about-calories/4-gym-machine-counts-are-bogus

Yeah, same here. When I push a stroller, I figure I'm probably burning a bit more than what the calculator says, but in the end, that calculator is just an estimate anyhow. People's bodies are different, so the calculator is never going to be right on for everyone. As long as I'm losing, I figure the estimates must be…

I looked for an alternative to Zombies, Run! a couple of months ago but didn't find anything. Checked again just now because I'd love a similar app that didn't involve zombies, but no luck.

Did you get it here? http://www.primalgrounds.net/paleo-peanut-butter-chocolate-cookies-flour-less/

And the answer is lift. :)

I'm in general agreement with many of the other respondents: easy does it. Don't expect to do any high-intensity exercise. Opt for walking instead of jogging, exercise in a pool if you can, etc. Ask your rheumatologist if you're not sure about your exercise regimen.

I find this article interesting: http://www.cnn.com/2011/HEALTH/07/25/study.clues.emotional.eating/index.html The article itself doesn't really give suggestions for overcoming emotional eating, but it cites a study suggesting that emotional eating has biological roots. "Given the strong soothing effect of food on a…

Yeah, that's a good point. Stick with a certain routine for a little longer to see if it pays off.

Maybe strength training to build some muscle? Worth a shot.
-
I've tried both and am not very good at either one... :)

Thanks, everyone, for all your input! I've decided to start posting gains in my newsfeed.

It's hard to be motivated when you're getting no sleep. Ugh! I remember those days. You didn't mention breastfeeding. If you are, maybe that's why you're so hungry.

If you don't mind artificial sweeteners, then sugar-free Jello and pudding.

I second the fitness ball. It engages core muscles, so even if you don't feel more active, you are in fact keeping your muscles busy. Any chance you could modify your desk so that you could stand while working? I just started using a filing tote under my monitor and keyboard to allow me to stand (photo here:…

There are lots of articles about how to sneak veggies into kids' meals. Use the same tactics on yourself! :) For example: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes-and-cooking/tips-for-kid-friendly-vegetable-dishes/index.html

Did you set your weight in Endomondo? Maybe it's defaulting to a lower weight for calculations.

No problem! If you ever find that the food you want isn't in the database, you can create your own foods. In this case, you'd just go to the Subway site and re-create the nutrition facts as closely as possible. I usually find something close in MyFitnessPal, though. I've added only one custom food to the database.

I typed "subway 6 inch roasted chicken sub" into the search and found a couple of different sandwiches that matched yours. The one that said "light mayo" did list 85 grams of fat, which is probably a typo, but another one listed the same calories (310) with only 5 grams of fat, which is probably a little more accurate. I'd…

Wow to everyone. I did couch-to-5k last year and my best time was (wait for it) 56 minutes. I was the last runner to finish, and many walkers beat me, too. My mom beat me! So if you ask me, you're doing just fine! Best of luck!

Oops, Blackberry app is still in progress.

I suppose the best way to donate is to click on the ads. :) If you have a smart phone, don't forget to download the app. They have apps for android, iphone and blackberry, so you're probably covered...
