As an example of the protein/fat thing, on the weekends I eat a bowl of bacon for breakfast. Just bacon, cooked in the oven, about 400 to 500 calories worth. By dinner time, I could eat, but I'm not starving, and I don't think about eating all day. The old me would have had toast for breakfast (possibly bacon and eggs on…

Accurate measuring is important. You calories seem high. I'm 5'9" and 216lbs and I'm supposed to be on 1700. I eat 1600.

I'm not sure what I can offer in relation to gaining weight. I'm sure if you're in eating disorder territory you know what foods to eat. You know you don't need to eat large portions, but nutrient dense foods. I guess it's not much different for you than for those of us who are overweight. I don't actually think I'm overly…

Fear mongering? Learn to science. Too many carbs, not enough protein, and not enough fat WILL cause hunger. Period. End of discussion. This is because of how these things are processed in our bodies. No one said she couldn't eat a calorie deficit of carby foods and lose weight, she asked why she was always HUNGRY. It's ill…

I'm a 40yo mum of 2 in Australia. I love animals, own a horse, a dog and a tank full of fish. My lifestyle change is well cemented, lost 55lbs in 5 months or so. Happy to provide support.

Way too many carbs, not enough protein. Don't forget carbs = sugar, so you're having alot more than you think. If you eat a reasonable amount of protein, more saturated fat, and less grains and sugars, you won't be hungry all the time. Something I learned after 20 years. I used to get the mid afternoon headaches and shakes…

I don't "fitness" I "life". Who's got time to pose around the gym several times a week? I'd rather be out riding my horse, mowing the lawn, or doing stuff with my kids.

If by cheat meals you mean rubbish carby food, I don't. So not worth it. Makes me feel like garbage for days. My "cheat" meal is a 400g rib eye steak cooked in butter, with a pile of bacon on the side.

I was a member of CalorieKing for about 10 years. Australian site. The tools and diary were good, calorie and macro counting same as MFP, but the forums dwindled down to half a dozen bitter trolls who either shot down what you said or didn't comment at all. Sad, coz there used to be some nice people on there, and very…

My only sibling, a sister (18 months younger) was easily 140kg or more. She ate nothing but carbs and junk her whole life. She had some issues, so my parents (and everyone else) indulged her every whim thinking that not ever saying No to her was doing her a favour. She died of a heart attack at 37.

My dinner is usually less than that. Cup of green beans, couple of slices of short bacon chopped up, slendier noodles, 15g of butter, chilli, and parmesan. Makes a big bowl, and plenty filling.

NOT TRUE - eating more will almost definitely make you start losing weight. At 1500 cals a day I lost no weight. At 500 to 600 cals a day for 2 weeks, I gained half a kg. Basically a lb. Not much, but not a loss like you reckon. At 1700 cals a day I lose consistantly. I'm not the only one who has found this. In fact it was…

I reckon that's right. It becomes an issue because it's made into an issue. Every day life is about navigation the cakes and pizza and well meaning friends and family and their comments and food enabling, and dinners out and all manner of other things. Stay centered. Do your thing. Decide what to put into your body, and…

I rode horseback until I was 8 months pregnant with both my kids. My pelvic floor, stomach, thighs and lower back were hard as a rock :)

Sets SOME people up for binges. Careful making generalisations. Restricting portions of carby foods set ME up for binges, uncontrollable ones, for 20 years. Not eating certain foods however has allowed me (and many other people) to finally overcome binging and gain control over food. So it's not always "oh, you can lose…

I don't really understand this. My partner and I have a very close relationship. We can talk pretty freely about anything, but what I choose to eat is not really a topic of conversation. I don't see why it's something he would have any input into? It's certainly none of my business what he eats or when, or how much he…

Date? No. But there was that one night, after the Xmas party, a little too much alcohol ... the rest is history ;) A guy I worked with "dated" a chick at work. While he was married. And expecting a kid. And had just bought a new house. He dumped his pregnant wife a few days before Xmas. And married the slag from work.…

Each to their own I supposed. That picture makes me want to gag. I can't look at food without thinking about what's in it, and there's nothing good in that. Not to mention the sick, headachy feeling I know I'd get from too much sugar. This on the other hand ...

I didn't lose anything for over a month, turns out I wasn't eating enough. I had dropped my cals from 1700 to 1600, then a week later to 1500, then after about a month I was eating about 1200 (I'm 5'9" and 216lbs so not nearly enough). Thought I'd test the CICO theory. Based on that with less calories I should have lost…

This was me ... for 20 years, until I started eating low carb, cut out all the sugar, potatoes, pasta, bread and rice from my diet. Hate all you want, but it's the only thing that's EVER worked.

I think about how eating all that sugar is going to make me feel after 5 months of 20g carbs a day. So not worth it. Headache, bloating, generally nasty. NO THANKS.
-
100g carbs a day is not Ketosis for me, or many other people. I think "Low carb" really, is about 5% of your calories. 100g might be reduced carb based on what you used to eat, but it's not really Low carb. Having said that, I've been Low carb (20g or less) for 5 months. I'll join. Also happy to answer any rookie questions…

I can assure you it's not a "placebo". Since I cut carbs 5 months ago my "feel better" changes are thus (and nothing to do with losing weight, everything to do with what I eat) ... * My joint pain is nearly gone. * My daily headaches are down to maybe once a month * I no longer get heartburn * I'm no longer hungry all the…

I'm a bit the same. I'm 5'9" and weigh 98.4kg (216lbs). I wear a size 16 (Aus) ... US size 12 to 14. I don't look nearly 100kg.

I like to Forum when I've had a bad day or I'm bored at work. I am for the most part a frivilous troll and do not really have anything important to say. I will argue vehemently with anyone who doesn't agree with me, especially you Calories In Calories Out freaks. YES I'M READY FOR FORUMING 1. I have a valid question and I…

That's pretty shallow. I'd say most people want to lose weight to play with their kids, live longer, enjoy doing things, avoid diabetes and heart disease, generally improve their quality of life. Not have a "perfect body". I'm not losing weight because society says I have to, I'm losing weight so I can be healthier as I…

I agree, she's not your friend. If I told my friend no and they bought me something anyway, I'd drop it in the trash or leave it on the table.

Be careful what you mean by "motivate". To make a change in your life based on the mean opinion of someone else is not going to work long term. To think "If I was thinner, they'd be nicer to me, that girl would like me, etc" is a dangerous road. The only reason you should EVER want to do it is for you, and possibly your…
