Unless you are a scientist/doctor expert in this field, you shouldn't write things like "Other than for medical reasons I really don't advocate low carb diets at all. Carbs help the brain function more efficiently and are the bodies main source of energy." You want to eat carbs, go for it, but don't post opinion and…

Last week I spent most of the week in bed with a fever, muscle and joint aches, the works. Sickest I've ever been I think. I got through with Atkins bars, diet Lemonaide and the odd coffee with cream in it when I felt I could. A piece of toast would have been great, but I haven't had bread in about a year, wasn't about to…

Quitting smoking doesn't make you gain weight. Eating everything in site because you quit smoking makes you gain weight. If you quit, and still eat within your allowance you will not gain weight because of a lack of cigarettes. Try using patches or nicorette gum to keep the craving at bay, worked for me, and means you…

I've had 2 bouts of PF. First time I got the steroid injection, hurt like hell going in, but no pain in my foot for 4 months. Second time the injection didn't help at all. I don't wear orthotics, and most days I'll wear a 3 inch heel. Flat shoes seem to make it worse. But I've had no pain for about 2 years. What did help…

I read all kinds but chewing through some crime thrillers at the moment. Alison Burke Chris Carter (X Files) have only read "An Evil Mind" but it was really good. Neil White Also loving Joe Hill (Stephen King's son), a couple of really great books including Horns, NOS4R2 and Heart Shaped Box.

I spent 20 years not being able to control what I eat. Despite knowing the calorie content of pretty much everything I put into my mouth, I couldn't stop. I'd lose 5kg and gain 10kg. Which is why at 40 I ended up being 50kg overweight, even though I'd been "on a diet" my whole life. I can't remember a time when I didn't…

Are you sure you're not making it all too hard? I have 4 teenagers, a partner, a full time job (with a 50 minute commute each way), a grand-child, a horse, a clean house (no housekeeper). My life is no where near as stressful as yours sounds. I've also lost 46lbs and I do not bust my *kitten* trying to workout every day. I…

In my experience, alot of people who are "on a diet" can't wait to tell you in the lunch room all about how much weight they've lost, and why their diet is the only diet in the world that works. Or how their workout was that morning. I personally don't need validation from work colleagues. Couldn't care less. Flirty…

Alot of people on here will tell you no, they're not good for you, they're full of chemicals, they stall weightloss, etc. I have an Atkins or Quest bar most nights. Why? Because my OH sits there and eats a whole bag of cashews or lollies, and, well, I'm no saint. I can't say no night after night after night. Last night I…

Maybe you need to talk to someone. You have very unrealistic expectations and don't seem to deal with the disappointment well. Get your head in the right space before you worry about anything else. Most people don't gain weight overnight, so don't expect to lose it overnight. I weigh a fair bit more than you, and while…

I eat between 12pm and 6pm. It works for me, I'm not hungry in the mornings because I eat protein and fat, almost no carbs.

Yes, I love my workout, I love my workout equipment even more. His name is Charlie (profile pic).

Jodphurs and knee boots are the only workout gear I own. Only exercise I do is ride my horse. Much better than crossfit :P

I had a packet of beef steakettes the other night (like hamburger patties I guess, but square). The package said 167 cals per serve, 4 serves per package ... but there was 3 steakettes in the package. WTF? Am I supposed to cut them in quarters and give each person 3 quarters each? Seriously ...

Normal person + anonymity + audience = total f***tard

Based on no fact whatsoever. Just sayin. I have a few Vegan friends, and they all have that look. You know, waif like, pasty, not enough muscle tone. No wonder if they all think 5% protein is enough. Not saying you have to eat meat, I didn't for about 5 years, but you do need protein, sorry. To answer the question though,…

I do not get all these "person above" threads. What are they in aid of?

I developed bad indigestion when I was pregnant with my son, and continued with it for about 18 years. Since I've cut out all sugar and processed rubbish from my diet, no indigestion at all. Not once in months.

A good Shiraz. Accompanied by a good steak, or a couple of squares of 85% dark chocolate. Heaven.

I have the built in fitbit on my HTC One M8, and the MFP app, and they sync with no help from me. Too easy.

Closet? lol ... I've had my WoW account for over 10 years, and 400 days game time :P I have a tower of Pop! Bobble heads on my computer desk at home. I've watched Warehouse 13 and Firefly. More than once. I love Dr Who (David Tennant :) ). My family greet me with "while you're here, can you have a look at my computer..." I…

"low fat is good for you" "eat plenty of cereals and grains" "sodium gives you heart disease" "eating too much fat will make you fat and clog your arteries" "grain and fruit is good for diabetics" Lol ... just lol. I'll take my protein any day of the week. I haven't craved sweets or junkfood in months, unlike most of the…

Um ... those were her words, not mine. Lol @ being called a zealot too, I'm the least obsessed with food I've ever been. Just because humans got clever and worked out how to pull certain things out of plants and animals, or synthesize them with chemicals, and do wonderful things to them in a factory, doesn't mean we should…

I have 4 teenagers (2 are mine and 2 are my partners but we have them full time). My kids : Always served whatever I eat, meat and veg, haven't kept junk food in the house for them to go to if they didn't want what was for dinner, haven't forced them to eat anything, never made an issue of food. Simply "this is what's for…

As I said, 5kg in 2 months is realistic.

Lol brass tax. I think you mean brass tacks.

That's fine, I don't need to be friends with you. I'm not disputing the ritual around food, I come from a big european family, I appreciate the social aspect of a meal. I'm also a great cook, and love to do so. I love a big steak and a glass of wine. I do however see no value in putting crap into my body that is going to…

I keep buying clothes the size I used to be and then *****ing all my clothes are too big. I can't seem to convince my mind I'm not that big anymore.

Depends, If you want to eat low carb and have more protein and fat, so you're not hungry all the time and beat the cravings etc you could keep your intake fairly low (I eat less than 20g a day). But, If you're one of the "all that matters is calories in v calories out" crowd, and prefer to eat high carb low fat (lots of…

When my ex-husband and I were talking about trying again, he said to me "I've always loved you in spite of your weight". Another good one was one night we were having dinner and he's gained a few kgs since he turned 40 - he says to me "if I keep going like this I'll weigh as much as you in 12 months". Needless to say, we…
