  • This for sure. Once I realized it was not crazy to eat grilled chicken and veggies or a turkey and cheese rolls ups, etc. for breakfast, I was able to keep my carb intake in check, and also felt more satisfied until lunch time. This morning, I had 2 crustless quiche muffins (eggs, bacon, scallions and cottage cheese baked…
  • I can fluctuate up to 10 lbs from when I wake up and go to bed... it sucks. Most days its about 5 lbs, but it's been worse.
  • I used to drink a LOT of diet coke and spent 7 years trying to figure out why I was gaining so much weight, and why my stomach was always hurting. After about 23 doctors, all sorts of probing and testing, my mom suggested giving up the diet coke. I did and nothing changed. Then I realized I was still eating a lot of…
  • @djsupreme6 - Yes, but a smile would improve your score!
  • If you want a good idea of what "correct" sizing looks like, try looking at size charts for sewing patterns - from companies that have been around forever. For example - http://www.simplicity.com/t-sewing-measurement-charts.aspx#misspetite I'm not sure if you're married or not, but when you get a wedding dress, your dress…
  • my smile, or my eyes... because they apparently smile when i smile.
  • I'm almost 5'10" and am currently stuck in the 225-228 range - have been for over a year regardless of what I eat or do for exercise. My slimmest was 165, and my ideal is 175-180 as I have a fairly broad frame and wide hips. Luckily, I'm pretty well distributed, but really need to reduce my BMI and get under 200 ASAP, but…
  • Yep! Trader Joe's has 72% bars for $1.99 and they are huge so they last a while. They also have smaller ones if you need safer portioning!
  • Definitely give it a try. Yoga and Pilates are probably the best things you can do for your body as you start exercising more - they keep you stretching and using new muscles without all the impact of running. My friend writes a funny blog and recently posted about the "9 things he learned from Yoga this year" ---…
  • @ShortNerdy --- sassy and fun!
  • This. Thank you.
  • ^^^^^ AMEN. ^^^^^ I spent 7 years in gastrointestinal hell and finally figured out that it was the artificial sweeteners that were making my intestines bleed. Yep, wicked gross, I know. Fair warning. I gave up diet coke (I was truly addicted) and switched to unsweetened iced tea and naturally flavored seltzers. Good luck!
  • I bake A LOT... I usually use real butter (salted sweet cream butter) for 1/2 of the amount, and then depending on what I'm making I use unsweetened apple sauce or pure pumpkin puree for the rest.
  • Take a look at the ingredients... if it says anything other than carbonated water, it's not the best choice. Try out brands like Polar - they have a zillion flavors and they are totally natural, unsweetened by anything and have zero sodium. Some of my favorite flavors are: Ginger lemonade, Mint Mojito, Ruby Red Grapefruit,…
  • THIS. My dad is an ob-gyn with 40 years of experience. He would be so disgusted by your doctors heartless and totally unhelpful behavior. My own doctor suggested to me that I try to lose 20 lbs before getting pregnant again - he then provided me with his own eating plan that he uses. You need to find a new doctor - and…
  • THANK YOU. I totally needed to see this today. I'm 5'10 and at my heaviest ever this morning after the past few weeks of "enjoying" food and life. I've always told myself that I won't really start to blossom until I'm 35 - and guess what... I turn 35 in July 2013, so this has to be my time. The next 6-7 months are going to…
  • Hey gals - I had been doing weight watchers and on the very day that I hit my 10% mark, I found out I was pregnant with my first child. We had only tried for 1 month and just like that - it was like magic. I only gained 18 lbs during my pregnancy, so I was still below my original starting weight, even at 9 months pregnant.…
  • Beans, greek yogurt, egg whites, protein powders, and my new favorite treat (or breakfast) is the Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar - it's a granola bar with whole peanuts in it and it has 10g of protein and tastes oh so good!
  • We buy raw dough from Trader Joe's and throw it on the gas grill (yes, the bbq) --- it's amazing! I stretch the dough, spray the grill with PAM, and throw it on. Cook about 4-5 minutes (lower heat is better), then flip the whole thing over. Add your sauce and fresh ingredients - focus on veggies and lean meats, or even…
  • my husband's side likes to show their love by buying gifts - and it's hard to compete since his sisters make 2x what we make. my family - we buy for the children and grandparents, and among my siblings and our spouses, we just spend the money on good food, wine and fun things to do when we're together. clearly, you can see…
  • It must be something about today... a man who works in the kitchen at my school (and speaks little english) rubbed his belly and looked at mine with excitement --- implying that i'm pregnant. He didn't say the words, but it was almost worse that he just pointed. I've been struggling to push through a plateau for soooo long…
  • I'm 5'10" and a size 16. The sucky part is that even when I lost 25 lbs (which I gained back and am trying to lose again), I was still a 14/16.
  • Exactly my thought.
  • Wow - I totally needed to see this today! You've always been gorgeous, but you look so brilliantly happy now! Way to go! KEEP IT UP AND MOTOR THROUGH!
  • We make our own pizza at home on the grill and it's crazy good! Just about any toppings are good, but my two favs to make are: Bacon, pineapple and onion with good red sauce, OR Chicken, crushed peanuts, cilantro and bean spouts with Thai Peanut Sauce... oh, OR Scrambled eggs, bacon and salsa

  • Wow dude, I would have crumbled to pieces. Way to be strong and make a change. Keep it up!
  • Sucktown. My husband's ring went down the drain in the spa bathroom on our honeymoon, but he and the other guys in the bathroom took apart the sink as they were all newlyweds and feared telling their wives.Haha. Do you have home owners or renters insurance? There's almost always built in jewelry coverage - mine has up to…
