  • Just got back from running my second 5k in as many weeks without stopping to walk. Shaved a minute off of my time from last week. I wish the first 2.5k felt as easy as the last 2.5k. It's amazing how it can feel once you get into a groove!
  • Today was my 100th day in a row logging. It's been a great start to changing my lifestyle. I was also able to run a 5k without stopping for the first time in over 5 years last week, so that was exciting!
  • I feel like I'm a peanut butter addict, so I started buying Jif to-go packs. It has been invaluable for me. I limit myself to one a day and still get my peanut butter fix, but it's pre portioned so I won't overeat it. I will normally slice up an apple and use that as a vessel for the PB. It's a great, quick snack.
  • I finally got my running intervals to equal the distance of a 5k! 1.75mi, .75mi, and finally .6mi, with a .25mi walk in between to give my legs a break. Did some walking before/after for a total of 6 miles. Next goal is going to be to get to a 5k with no walking breaks.
  • I did C25K week 5 day 2 today. Two 8-minute runs with 5 minutes walking in between. However, the NSV was that I was feeling so good after that I decided to just run some more. Ended up running a mile without stopping, clocking that mile at 13'20". Obviously not fast, but it was steady and comfortable. I wouldn't have been…
  • MFP has the mph attached to the exercise entries. A 20 minute mile is 3mph, and is listed as moderate. A 17 minute mile is 3.5mph and is listed as brisk. A 15 minute mile would be 4mph and is listed as very brisk.
  • As of today, I've walked 100.5 miles in July. 23 recorded walks. Never thought I would be this consistent in hitting the trails during probably the hottest month of the year here in Northern Virginia, but I was happy that I was able to hit that milestone. The speed has been gradually increasing as well which I'm excited…
  • Went for a nice 5.75 mile walk on a wooded trail. It's been consistently above 90 degrees with a heat index of around 100, so the shade was wonderful.
  • Did a 3.75 mile walk today, and was feeling good so I did Core de Force MMA Shred. It was a solid workout day!
  • I'm a big guy, and have recently been getting in some running amidst all of the walking I've been doing. Managed to run 1.25 miles today without stopping in the middle of my 6 mile walk. That's easily the farthest I've run since doing a turkey trot 5-miler in 2015. Getting back into running has been amazing during all of…
  • I'm an elementary music teacher. Restarting this for a second time, looking to lose at least 40, but potentially up to 60 depending on how I feel. Anyone should feel free to add me if they want.
  • Accidentally did w3d2 yesterday instead of week w1d2. Didn't even notice until it said I was finished, and it felt good. Decided to see how long I could run without stopping and made it 10 minutes! I've found once I get into a good groove, I feel like I can run forever.
  • Finished w1d1 today. I've completed the program before and fell off the wagon. Time to get back on it!
  • Today was W2D1. I did this program last year around this time of year, and (stupidly) stopped running after the summer. Getting back into it, and it's significantly easier this time around so far!
  • Just got back from W8D2. It was tough due to new circumstances (different route that had a significant amount of hills instead of the flat trail I normally run, and it's also getting pretty hot/humid in Virginia now), but I completed it! 2.8 miles at an 11:55 min/mile pace. Before I started c25k, I had never ran a mile…
  • You can absolutely do it. I had never run for 20 minutes straight in my life (even while I was in HS on the baseball/basketball teams). I am running W8D2 when I get home from work this afternoon, and ran 2.5 miles straight on Wednesday (in 28 minutes). Just find a pace that you can maintain a conversation at, and stay…
  • Completed W7D2 yesterday after work, and it felt great! Excited to be done with the program next week and run my first 5k on June 6. What gets me every time though, is when I have to turn around in the middle of my run. As long as I'm going in one direction, I feel like I can run forever. As soon as I slow down to make the…
  • As was already stated, you're obviously going to be doing a lot of walking around DC. On top of that, there's a good chance that your hotel will have some sort of gym/exercise room you can use while you stay if you feel inclined to do so. The food around here is great though! Every single place I've gone to when I metro…
  • W5D3 done...crushed it! I felt so good as I was walking back home that I tacked on an extra 8 minutes running and then cooled down. I also never thought I'd say this, but I've got a pretty bad runner's tan going on. Can't wait for the school year to be over so I can get to the beach and even it out!
  • I started doing the beginner bodyweight workout from nerdfitness.com.
  • Just got back in from W5D2. Today was sooooo much easier than W5D1 for some reason. Maybe it was the new running shoes, maybe it was finally finding the perfect cadence (166bpm), or maybe it was the weather. I was just happy that it felt good.
  • I bought a pair of Sony Active Sports headphones for around $15 or so because I was having the same issues. They go over the ear and adjust to the size of your ear, and I haven't had any problems since.
  • I'm no pro, but I would venture to guess that 37:58 is actually a really great time for a first 5k considering you weren't able to run for 1 minute 2 months ago. Congrats!
  • Finished W4D3 today! Excited to get to week 5. I have been using a pair of Nike Men's Revolution 2s since I didn't have money for new sneakers when I started this. I told myself that if I stuck with it for a month I would treat myself, so I went and got fitted today and now have a pair of Saucony Omni 13s!
  • Just got back in from W4D2. Took a couple of days off due to weather, and I'm kind of bummed I did. Today was just one of those days where every step was a task. Looking forward to the next run though.
  • Week 4 Day 1 complete! It's supposed to rain here for most of the week...hoping I'll be able to get a few breaks to get my other runs in!
  • Just got back from w3d1! It was a ton easier than I was expecting it to be, making the jump from 90 seconds to 3 minutes running.
  • Nice to read this. I'll be doing Week 3 Day 1 tomorrow when I get home from work.
  • I've had this happen to me before, and I've basically narrowed it down to water consumption. I have to make sure that I don't drink anything for at least 1-1.5 hours before I exercise. If I do drink something within that time frame, I almost always throw up and feel perfectly fine right after. Reflux is the other…
  • I'm in Northern Virginia as well in Reston! Feel free to add me. Might be nice to find some people to exercise with once it starts getting nice out.
