  • The surgeon injected a long lasting (3-4 days) local anesthetic before closing so I am probably still feeling the effects of that. I take my pain medication every 6 hours and alternate with Tylenol, so I taking something every 3 hours while I'm awake. I've had 3 c sections along with laparoscopic sleeve and gall bladder,…
  • I guess I should have said its a lot harder than I thought, the final picture doesn't look too bad :)
  • I would have to say variety if you can get it, maybe alpine punch (like red punch)? Flavor preference is so individual but I think if you do variety you won't be stuck with one that you get tired of. It sounds like you have some powders and the rtd isopure is pretty costly, so, maybe just one case? Isopure does make…
  • If you are like me, you will start to notice big increases in energy when you are down 25-30 pounds, good luck, you will do great!
  • I would usually do a half cup/4 oz at that stage. The Greek yogurt should be fine the way it is. I had to be on this stage for 8 weeks! I found that blenderizing things to the proper consistency using broths, low calorie juices was helpful. I did not have to follow the 30 minute rule until I moved onto soft foods but go…
  • Way to go! My daughter was not pleased to see me dancing around in her jeans either ;) I have raided her closet a few times, something I never imagined doing!
  • I second (third?) the quest bars. You can also get them at Vitamin Shoppe stores. I like most flavors, 15 sec. In the microwave, yum! I have also found a bar called ANSI gourmet (also at Vitamin Shoppe) that comes in flavors like chocolate chip cheesecake, strawberry, peanut butter chocolate chip. These are quite similar…
  • I did a little running before surgery and had trained some with a couch to 5k program. I started back with it about 6 weeks post-op. and ran my first 5k at 3 months out. I've done 3 more since (I am 6 months post now). I like that distance for now but may increase in the future. For me, being able to drink only small…
  • I, like you seem to have the middle of my body as the main epicenter of fat. Though I lose from my scalp to my feet I lose less at my core, especially the pelvic region. I still have a fat lump on my tailbone and TMI ALERT!!!! An overweight pudenda. I mean how is this possible??!! I laughingly tell my Pooki to get it…
  • You look wonderful! So happy for you, you are an inspiration to all of us!
  • I continued to have pain (mine on my right side, probably just individual healing or surgeon variations in procedure) six weeks out. It went away shortly thereafter but it was definitely there. I just kept moderately active (walking) and soon enough the pain subsided and I was able to increase my activity. Good luck to you!
  • Sitting in the bathtub with my 5 yr old daughter the other night my butt was getting sore. What do you know...I have a tailbone! She was also quick to point out all the hanging skin, including my sorry boobs! Leave it to kids to not mince words about your appearance :)
  • That is my "creamer" now, vanilla or chocolate, depending on my mood, I love it!

  • I love chai, thanks for posting! I will have to try it :) I have a thing for iced coffee as well and had been trying to come up with a suitable (low carb with a good amount of protein) substitution. The best I have come up with yet is taking a 20 oz cup of ice, brew a decaf keurig cup on the smallest setting and add 1 cup…
  • I have one garment that goes from right under my bra to mid thigh. It feels good to wear it because it smooths out the flabbiness above my belly button, my butt and also inner thighs. I would like to get one that has the straps as mine does like to ride down. I don't wear every day, just to work and if I have somewhere…
  • Way to go, happy 6 month surgiversary! You have worked hard and are reaping the rewards :)
  • Looks like you are doing great! I try to weigh only once a week now and record it on MFP. I am settling into a pattern of a few pounds a week, which I am happy with. It is good to also keep track of how things are fitting, as you are doing, because the changes your body is undergoing may not always show up on the scale. I…
  • If you are like me, the first few days will be ok. Around day 3-4 I got a little cranky :) and after that, I was ok again. I knew it wasn't very long until surgery, the "end" was in sight and I could do this. It was good practice for how I would be eating after surgery. It paid off to follow the preop diet because my liver…
  • Things happened with your band that were beyond your control, so you cannot put all of that "failure" on yourself. When you made the choice to have the band, you were in that mindset that you were ready to take control of your health, I am pretty sure that is how you feel now, too. Everyone has in the back of their mind…
  • I'm a little farther northeast (saginaw area) but wanted to give a shout out! Hope you are well :)
  • Thank you for your responses. After a day or two of rest I will be fine and since it is so seldom a problem the Tylenol should do the trick. I have no intention of going against Drs. orders, I've worked too hard for that!

  • I am 4 weeks postop and I am happy with my sleeve. I have lost 19 pounds since my surgery, 27 since my preop diet and 50 from my all time high. It has not been total smooth sailing as I still have occasional discomfort on my right side but I have tolerated my diet great. Many people go back to work within 2-3 weeks. I have…
  • I take Flintstone chewable complete with iron twice a day, so with that I get 1200 iu of vit. D, 36 mg of iron and 200-300 % of RDA on most everything else. I haven't tried larger swallow pills to know if I could take a regular vitamin. I also take Prilosec, Biotin 5000 mcg and my Vasotec for bp has already been decreased,…
  • Congratulations! That is a big accomplishment you have worked hard for! I am hoping to join you very soon (~ 5 lbs) :). Way to go!
  • I agree with Lindsey. Get some sample packs, I know syntrax and unjury have them, I am sure there are others, too. Unjury even gives you a food thermometer and a shaker bottle with the samples, which were nice size and I ended up buying more of them. In the time leading up to the preop diet, try the samples, see what you…
  • Tmi but I've had maybe 2 bms since I've been home, not at all solid. Do you feel constipated? I am wondering if there is anything in there to come out! Do you feel like you are peeing enough (clear yellow urine)? Sorry, I am a nurse! The only thing I am "eating" is sugar free jello, Popsicles, fudgesicles. I am on clear…
  • I don't really have answers but I am right there with you! My surgery was Wednesday and when I got home I was up 7 lbs. from when I went in. My IV fluids were going at a pretty good rate for 2 days so I kind of expected that. I have found some of my protein mixes are too sweet right now, will have to wait a while on those.…
  • Yes, I thought, I'm going to be ok, I'm not going to miss not having this all the time. I've worked hard the last 3 months and my body is used to a healthier diet. Maybe that's why it either wasn't that satisfying or made me a little sick. Bring on the preop diet!
  • I am turning 40 in March and also look at this as a gift to myself! Hopefully I will be having surgery in January, a great start to a new year. Good luck to you :)
  • Hello, I have my consultation with Bariatric surgeon tomorrow, anxious to get the ball rolling! I have researched extensively, am an OR nurse, so I think I have I good understanding of what's involved pre and postoperatively. My insurance lists a 3 month and 6 mo. Prep program ( of course 3 months sounds good to me :) I…
