  • I tried eating at 1200 for years and never could lose any weight. I finally set myself to 1 lb a week even though I have sixty to lose - and I've lost 13 pounds in ten weeks. Sometimes, a lower calorie diet just isn't sustainable for whatever reason. I'm happy losing slower if it means I can actually DO it.
  • I drink mine with sugar free vanilla creamer, and I log it, all 45 calories a day of it.
  • I have to stop myself from saying "I already logged this, I have to eat it!" No, no I don't.
  • Right now I would maintain on 2100, according to my fitbit, but I still have 50 pounds to lose, so I suspect it'll be closer to 1800 once I'm done. We'll see. (I'm only 5'1")
  • Cider can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Non-alcoholic cider isn't carbonated, though.
  • My daughter tested allergic to beef, and her allergist said that if we'd never noticed any reaction to it, she should go ahead and keep eating it, but only 1-2x a week, not every day. Since she's not a big meat eater to begin with, we have pretty much done that for ten years. However, I'm not a doctor, etc.
  • I log my exercise in Endomondo, which reports to MFP, which reports to Fitbit. I eat back about half of my exercise/adjusted calories. It's working for me so far. Endomondo tells the fitbit during what time you were exercising, so it knows.
  • My nighttime snack lately has been fudgesicles. They are only 80-100 calories, so it's easy to leave room for them in my food diary, and they satisfy my chocolate cravings.
  • Not all anti-depressants will cause weight gain. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and they may be able to find a different medication that will help you but not impact your weight.
  • There are those who want to eat "clean" that wouldn't eat that kind of stuff, but for me, moderation is key. Completely depriving yourself of treats will just make you binge later, or make you give up on your diet completely.
  • I gained 80 pounds in 7 years and then maintained for another 12, so when I was gaining I was only eating a little over what I was burning, but it meant that year after year, a little over ten pounds a year crept on to me. I maintained for a long time, so now I just need to learn how to eat a little less and move more, and…
  • I was born in 75. I was in elementary in the early 80's and we came home from school around 3:30, did any homework we had, and by 4 or 4:30 we were outside until dinnertime (at 6) and if there was any daylight left we were back outside again. Catching frogs, playing kickball, riding our bikes. I had an Atari growing up but…
  • I started running in May at about 220 lbs. I did C25k like others have said, and I am SLOW. Like, a very slow jog. I completed my first 5k with a mix of running and walking in 50 minutes in September, and then did one this month in 48 minutes. At this point I run for 3 minutes and then walk for two, but I'm still averaging…
  • For me it wouldn't be healthy, because why would I want a mate that wouldn't have been interested in me if I were heavier? I don't want someone like that in my life. For me, because I enjoy running, and the less I weigh, the easier it will be to run longer/farther/faster.
  • I find that when I'm trying to get over the "i eat all the time" stuff, it is best for me to set specific "snack times". I have breakfast at 9am, I have lunch at 1, but I have a healthy (logged!) snack at 11, and at 3:30. That way if I want food before my time, I can say "Are you actually hungry, or just thinking about…
  • My theory is: Skinny people eat ice cream, too. They just don't eat the entire pint in one sitting, like I used to. Have a serving of ice cream, log it, work it into your day.
  • I mostly drink it black, but I will occasionally add vanilla creamer and sugar - but when I do, I log it. :)

  • Official weigh in day is Friday morning, but I might "check in" other days of the week. I log every weigh in here on MFP but only my weeklies in my Excel chart.
  • Go for it! You are totally on your own pace. I've been doing c25k for a month and I'm only one week 2, and that's fine!
  • Jumping in here. I've been doing c25k for about a month now (started on May 23rd) and I'm only in week 2 (and I'll be doing week two again next week) but my goal is to keep at it, and if it takes me a year to go through a "nine week" program, so be it. I'm registered for a 5k on 9/15 and even if I have to walk some of it I…
  • After I had my daughter I had gone from 125# to 150# (I had gone up to 175#, but I lost 25 after giving birth) and I was like "OMG I am so fat" and my thinking lead to "Well, I'm already fat, who cares what I eat?" Now my goal is to get back down to that 150 because it seems so wonderfully small. :P
  • Wellbutrin suppresses my appetite for the first few weeks I'm on it, but then that goes away. Funny, it's the one side effect I wish would stick around!
  • I had a b belly when I was 5'1" and 120 pounds. Now that I'm significantly heavier than that it's a B, but I have no belief at all that I will ever have a flat belly. Even when I was young and a size 6 I didn't have a flat lower belly.
  • My boss has lost 45 pounds doing this, so a couple of us in the office bought copies of the book as well. Mine came today although I probably won't start until Saturday or Sunday because I'll need to shop.
  • I eat at Subway at least once a week. I get a 6 inch turkey on wheat, no cheese, mountains of veggies, a little black pepper and the low cal fat-free honey mustard dressing. (And I say "a little bit of honey mustard" and then say "Stop" when they've made one or two squiggles.) The Subways around me have actually stopped…
  • I don't eat breakfast first thing, and never have. I get up at 6, and I eat breakfast at 8:30 when I get to work. It helps to push it a little farther into the day, but still be "breakfasty"
  • This. You also get water from the foods you eat. If your pee is very light colored, you're getting enough water. I don't track water, I watch my output. When it starts getting dark, I up my water.
  • Well, you didn't eat 14,000 calories in pizza, I hope, so that's not where the four pounds came from. My guess would be sodium and bloating. This is why I don't weigh every day, and the day before my weigh-in I eat low-sodium and drink as much water as I can stand. Get that water weight out before you get on the scale.
  • I'm doing a cheat day this time around (although it's more like a "cheat meal" and I still managed to lose 2.6 pounds last week. If I find that it slows my weight loss, I'll stop doing it, but as long as I'm still losing, I will do it. I socialize with friends a lot on the weekends and it's hard when everyone's going out…
  • I do one "cheat day" a week, generally a weekend day. But I don't use it as an excuse to go crazy all day. If there's something I'm craving during the week that does't fit into my calories, I can tell myself "You can have that on cheat day." Most of the time I don't even want it by the weekend, but it allows me to go out…
