I also did C25k and then Bridge to 10K, they are wonderful apps and programs. I've found that on runs I was intimidated on, I end up messing up the first run, then the next time I can complete it. I had to take 3 weeks off from running, and I had been running the full 10K for about a month before stopping, and it has taken…

That's a good idea. I usually run outside, but I was thinking that if I go on a treadmill, it might be easier to work my way back up

I plateaued a while back. I feel your pain- so frustrating! I was determined to start losing again, so in the same week, I started increasing my workouts by about 10 minutes of cardio a day, AND I started increasing my activities of daily life ("ADLs"), like stairs instead of escalator, that sort of thing. The biggest one,…

I use this as a mantra when I'm struggling through a run: Train INSANE or remain the same.

Hi. I don't know of any magic methods or pills or, but: this exact same thing was happening to me. I was working out regularly (running, weights) and sticking with my diet, but going over a few calories a few days per week. I wasn't losing inches ANYWHERE. I would measure myself to check and then feel disappointed and…

They just give you three sessions a week to keep it manageable. I was running 4 or 5 times a week. Just stick to the order of the training sessions. You'll just be done faster! I loved C25k. It's a great program. I just finished bridge to 10K this week. If you told me I'd be running 6 miles a day a few months ago I would…

For a few months I was lifting everyday AND doing about 45 minutes of cardio. I wasn't logging at all, but I thought, "hey! i'm probably losing, my clothes (I think!) feel better, and how could I not be with all this time at the gym." Then, I went on vacation with my family and everyone was taking pictures, I saw a picture…

I think it doesn't really matter whether your calories are from snacks or meals, as long as you don't go over your total daily calories. I think having this expectation that we are supposed to have big meals (i.e. the very American: small breakfast, smallish lunch, big dinner) is part of the reason people gain weight.…

Thanks, everyone! I really needed the support yesterday! Sorry for the whining :)

Don't worry, you're fine! I had indian last night. First, for bread: do Roti. It's the best bread choice. Stick to veggie dishes- there are a ton of indian recipes on the myfitnesspal calorie counter thing, so you can research some different options on there and just pick the best one. Then, just pay attention to your…

Look, of course you will lose weight fast and right away eating so few calories, but the problem is, it will only last a few weeks. Your body can't sustain that kind of low calorie amount and will go more quickly into starvation mode- conserving the energy you do eat, and holding onto it, so that you will stop losing first…

Hi yesthistime, thanks for the links, but I already searched these and didn't really see answers to exactly what I was asking. Is there a particular one you saw that has the info I need? I may just be missing it. Thanks!

My advice is this: Get a trainer for at least one sessions. Most gyms will give you a free session with a trainer when you join (they want to induce you to buy more training sessions). Working with a trainer will teach you how to use the equipment and how you should be increasing the training each week. I chose to make the…

Thank you so much for all of the comments. I took them to heart, and put on my shoes, and got back out there. I still have it in my mind that I should start doing speedwork, but I'm now doing the bridge to 10K, so I'm not sure if I should focus on endurance instead. Anyway, thank you for the advice, everyone!

Same here. The second to last week of C25k is when I realized I was actually looking forward to running each day and actually enjoying the runs.

Thank you so much, everyone!

My experience is that weight loss is about 80% what you eat and maaaybbee 20% working out. Also, weight lifting builds muscle, and muscle burns fat faster, so weight lifting is an equally good option, and, dare I say, simply being active can be more than enough to help you lose weight (walking a few extra blocks, parking…
