My boyfriend has just informed me that we are going out for an indian curry tomorrow night with his family - I have done no preperation this week in regard to having extra calories left for this meal! I will obviouly have boiled rice and avoid a starter but any suggestions for low calorie main meals (vege or fish only as I don't eat meat) or suggestions as to how I can ask them to change the dishes to make them lower in cals? I would not normally be too bothered but last weekend was a treat weekend for me (chip shop chips 2 days running!) and I have put 1.5lbs on this week and do not want to put anymore on!!!!!!

King prawn tandoori, a popaddom or 2, bit of raita sauce (lower sugar than mango chutney!), chapatti (lower cals than naan bread)i normally have chicken shaslik which is big chunks of chicken with loads of veg but obviously not ideal for you

SORRY BUT YOU ARE F**KED.
Exercise today and tomorrow and sunday and just get back too the diet come monday morning. If you are anything like me I doubt you will resist the food in the Indian once you get the aroma of the spices
Stick to tomatoe based sauces, no nans, no bajias, no popodoms.0 -
Portion control is key.
I'd go for some saag aloo, and some dhal. I'd have only a little bit of rice, and avoid the breads. Maybe one poppadum with the dips. Raita, if it's made with natural yoghurt and cucmber, should be fine - you might want to ask them if there are any other ingredients in it.0 -
Don't worry, you're fine! I had indian last night. First, for bread: do Roti. It's the best bread choice. Stick to veggie dishes- there are a ton of indian recipes on the myfitnesspal calorie counter thing, so you can research some different options on there and just pick the best one. Then, just pay attention to your calorie consumption. I think the rice is the killer- it is the one thing that drives my calories up. Last night, I had a mixed veggie curry, a cup of basmati rice, a half a roti, and a bite of poori and a bite of a shrimp curry, I think my whole meal was about 700 calories. It's doable. You just have to really watch it the rest of the day.0
