Yep, agreed. I pro-actively blocked everyone I work with on Facebook. But I do talk about races at work, but not all the weekend trips I do when not racing.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/williamhaseltine/2020/07/31/new-evidence-suggests-young-children-spread-covid-19-more-efficiently-than-adults Apparently young children are super spreaders. Schools are reopening in some places, so this is going to be bad.

Some of us were discussing that. We have to keep it very quiet, I suppose... honor system only goes so far. But of course, many of us talk about our vacations at least some. I know the dept. manager (I work in the dept, but am unusual as I report directly to someone at corp. and not to her) has vacation scheduled next…

My employer with several sites across the U.S. (and other countries) announced a new policy today, effective immediately. The policy is that anyone who travels for personal reasons to a "red zone" state* is not allowed to come to the facility for 14 days after returning, and that it will be unpaid. There isn't anything…

Andrew Jackson Half Marathon cancelled today. Originally on 4/4, postponed to 9/12, now "virtual" or defer. I am deferring to 4/3/21. Not sure if I can still make it that day, but will see. I guess I should do 85 miles this month. Tupelo 14.2M is still happening so far.

I haven't been posting every update, but last run in July was today and here is my total:

What are you kickin'? Whose? ;)

This is 100% true, but it's tough to measure for everything and pauci-symptomatic people are going to lie because they think it shouldn't count against them.

I'm not sure why my company doesn't let some of us keep WFH. I've proven most of my job can be done from home. Employees in the factory wouldn't be able to WFH, but I could get all my on-site stuff done in 1/2 day per week and stay home the rest of the time... why not?! Anyway, we have some production shut down due to…

State law already exists to require positivecases to stay home, but county sherriff has said he won't enforce it and county supervisors (governing county board) has said they won't do anything either. They say they want the county health dept. (underfunded and understaffed without any authority to regulate criminal law) to…

An area where I used to live has tripled their all-time cases now in the last 10 days. Even yet, some people still suggest nothing should close down again and schools should return as usual. I'm currently in a discussion with someone on social media (I don't know why I even try) with someone who tested positive recently…

I don't think the contactless scanners are very accurate, but 95.2 is far from "pretty much dead." I've used different rectal thermometers (about as accurate as possible) with results in the 95's and 96's frequently.

My workplace has a plant nurse that handles such things. We had a bunch of questions to answer for screening before going back to work. We are then supposed to self-report if the answer to any of those things changes. If you answered "yes" to any of them, she had to review further. I was honest when I filled it out - one…

Over here in west TN, one nearby school delayed a week. A week... because of the increase in cases. I think there isna lot more that can be done both for schools and outside of schools.

After reading your description, I realized I didn't explain utensils. They give them to you at your table at the start of a meal, individually packaged as this place did before the pandemic.

On buffets, I think the risks are: 1. People touching the same serving spoon and then touching food. 2. People walking around and breathing on the food and each other. #1 was managed by having only employees touching spoons and plates until you get the plate. #2 has been managed for years with sneeze guards and was further…

Not likely... the materiality threshold is something determined, usually with advice and collaboration with external auditors, and isn't something that is decided on a case by case basis. I find it hard to believe that $10M would be immaterial, but I haven't looked at Garmin's financials, so I don't have anything to base…
-
Since they don't expect any material financial impact, and considering $10M to be financially material, I think this means they did not pay the ransom.
-
I'm not a lawyer, but I know if they are on the Treasury dept. sanctioned lists - SDN list and such - they can't be paid by U.S. companies. But perhaps Garmin is looking at it from the legal standpoint that they don't really know who they are paying and therefore didn't knowingly pay anyone who is sanctioned. And if that…

I sure hope that rumor is false.

That's all fine when those relatively rare cases of kids are the majority that survive without any long-term effects and don't infect others. But the reality is that kids interact with adults. I know of a 4 year old relative who tested positive. She lives with and is cared for by her grandmother, who is at high risk. That…

Dyer County also specifically requires nose and mouth are covered, but enforcement isn't happening here.

My Garmin was able to start syncing this morning on the second try, but only got 1 run loaded of 3 that were pending. Will try again soon.

@Elise4270 Rather than type it all out, I'll just post a link I found: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/jul/24/garmin-down-how-to-get-activities-on-strava-ride-swim-walk Obviously nobody knows for sure who is demanding the ransom. It would be easier if that was the case. It's probably some terrorist organization…

I was fortunate that my Fenix 5 worked for today's run. No issues aside from still can't load to Garmin and see details. So I went ahead and put the file in Strava manually and updated my ticker that I haven't been keeping up with either: Today was a half marathon distance and I fear I'm detrained. It was slow and just…

I went to Memphis today - used to go around once per month or more and haven't since everything shut down. @rheddmobile and @gradchica27 maybe have more frequent insight, but on my one visit in a long time, I was pleased to see most people actually wearing masks in stores there and most were even wearing them properly.…
-
@rheddmobile That is really good about getting maintenance meds prescribed like that. We type 1 diabetics always wondered why our endocrinologists want to see us so often too. We should just get a lifetime prescription for insulin, insulin delivery supplies, testing supplies, etc. My pancreas won't suddenly re-create islet…

This can happen here (NW Tennessee) too. My county has a mask mandate now. It applies to businesses inside and outside when within 6 feet of others. So far today, with Sat. errands: Grocery store gas station (entirely outside) - Nobody wore a mask. I only was just outside my car and mostly was more than 6 feet or had a…

Yes, I knew the Garmin site was down... that is what I was saying, I would have to wing it since I can't build my workout due to the ransomware attack. It doesn't matter, my digestive system had different ideas and I ended up cutting the run short and making it back to a toilet ASAP while trying not to jostle things too…
-
I really should have build a workout and synced it to my Garmin last night for tonight, but I didn't. And now I need to do the workout and can't figure out how to build it for my Garmin. Ugh. Maybe I'll need to wing it.
