Exactly. I doubt anyone here got where they are by bingeing on apples and oranges.

If your brother thinks this is a good idea, then he needs to do a hell of a lot more budding before he starts training anyone.

I do believe you're on to something. Let's see how long it takes this one to go from "I want to lose 21 pounds in 21 days!" to "OMG NO YOU GUYS ALL I WANT TO DO IS LOSE INCHES WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME GAWD. BIATCHES!"

What's true for you, is not true for everyone. For some of us, a "cheat" day (although I don't like to call it that, personally) every once in a while is essential for keeping the cravings at bay AND maintaining a lifestyle change rather than a "diet".

"Large-framed" does, though. And that makes a difference.
-
Ehhh, that's not even totally accurate, either. If I do that, my index finger and my thumb touch, but I am definitely large-framed. Every single "body frame calculator" I have ever plugged my wrist measurement into (my wrist is 6 inches around) gives me the exact same result: large-framed.

I do cheat nights twice a week. Not entire cheat days, mind you, but on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I'll eat normally for breakfast lunch, and supper, and then later in the evening I'll have a junk food snack that I don't normally have. Some people might say that's not the "right" way to go about losing weight, but the way I…

I have one, but I only use it for weighing meat (chicken, fish, steak, etc.) I don't weigh *everything* I eat, and I'm damn well not taking it with me to restaurants. Personally, I find it useful, but if it were to break, I wouldn't break my legs running out to get a new one. I lost nearly 70 pounds without one.

If what/how she cooks bothers you *that* much (or you think it takes "too much time" to log what she cooks) then cook your own damn food. Seriously, though.....she's taking care of three kids (YOUR kids) all day long. That's difficult enough without having to worry about whether what she's cooking is "acceptable" for you…

OK, so you're severely allergic to the stuff. Not everyone is. Don't get me wrong, I don't exactly believe that aspartame is made of pixie dust or anything, but the fact that YOU are allergic to it doesn't mean that everyone else has to completely avoid it.

No, you probably shouldn't count your sitting at your desk. *L* That said, I don't understand the mentality that some people here seem to have that "if you don't sweat, it's not exercise." I walk at least 5 miles a day, at a brisk pace; today I did nearly 8 miles, in a little less than two hours. My heart rate was in the…

Same with me. I walked 7.8 miles today. Did I sweat? No. Am I counting it? You're damn right.

Yes, I did get a note stating that, after consultation, my doctor and I had decided that WW's goal weight for me was too low and that, in the doctor's opinion (based on my waist-to-hip ratio and body fat percentage) my goal weight would be at a higher number. I'm not planning to go back to WW anytime soon; the goal weight…

I was paying $23.85 a week. $23.85 x 4 = $95.40. And, I might add, that was *just* to weigh in. No etools. I couldn't get eTools because I don't have a credit card, therefore Monthly Pass wasn't an option for me. So yes, the cost *can* be prohibitive for some people. Especially if you're like me and have absolutely no…

Lipozene is fibre. Well, specifically, the major ingredient is konjac root -- but it's really just another form of fibre. You'd get the same result (if you got any result) going to Walmart and buying a fibre supplement. In any case...weight loss doesn't need a "kick start". It just needs a start, and you don't need any…

I started WW in January of 2011. I found it...okay. I was hungry a lot of the time and thought it was something I would just have to deal with. I was on 26 points the entire time I was doing the program. I reached my goal weight (which in my opinion was too low for me, regardless of what WW or "the charts" told me) but was…

Under 12? The gym where I work won't allow anyone under 16 in the cardio or weight room unless they complete a "teen weight training course", and kids still have to be at least 13 to do the course. After reading your post, I'm very very glad we have that policy. Else we'd have nutjob parents like you swarming the place…

I....no. No. That's....no.

Personally, I think that a lot of people who have conditions who are "their fault" are perfectly aware of that fact. (Well, actually, probably ALL of them are.) I just don't see the point of beating them over the head with it. People can be concerned about an issue without being condescending and ignorant about it, can't…

This obsession that Americans seem to have with OMG MAH TAX DOLLARS is really intriguing to me. I often wonder if it extends to other conditions as well. I don't know. I just....okay, I look at it like this. My father smoked for thirty-five years. He's now 66 years old and suffers from COPD, sleep apnea and congestive…

In the case of the specialized equipment in a hospital: who's forcing you to look? If you don't need it, you don't need to look at it. That should end the affront to your eyes, no?

Ahahaha! It ended up that the rain stopped and the wind died down, so I went out for an hour. I don't mind snow and cold...it's wind that drives me insane. *L*

....I never thought about doing that. Hmmm. Just for curiosity, after reading your response I recalculated my TDEE, this time using "little to no activity" as the baseline. Once I had done the 10% subtraction for the ten pounds I'd like to lose, I came out with a daily calorie recommendation of 1,590 calories. Now, I wore…

Haha, the shovelling thing! Everyone I know thinks I'm a bit "off" because when the weather's like this, I'll be going "I just wish it would SNOW already! Then I could shovel!" Apparently shovelling is not a popular activity around here. *L*

Yeah, I have Wii Fit, too. I guess I just sometimes fall into the trap of thinking that's not "real" exercise because it's not at as vigorous a pace as when I walk! :) Thanks for the reminder; I'll be checking out some Youtube stuff.
-
When I worked out my TDEE, I put in that I exercise 3-5 times a week, which I do...so I think I should be okay. I guess time will tell, anyway, right? *L*
-
Yep, I'm keeping that in mind. Days like this don't happen very often. Unfortunately, today is a day when things are working against me -- not only is the weather not conducive to outdoor activity, but it's also Remembrance Day, which means the gym is closed as well. ;)
-
Nope, it's definitely not just you.

I have a Magic Bullet and I use it every single day. I honestly don't know how I got along without it before (I had a Black & Decker blender before that wouldn't blend *butter*, let alone frozen fruit.) I read some negative reviews on Amazon, etc., before I bought it, but to be honest, I think if you actually take the time…

*shrug* To each their own. If I want a french vanilla cappucino from Tim Horton's, and it fits into my calorie allowance, I'm going to have it. Is it a "waste"? Maybe, in some peoples' eyes. But that's for each individual to decide. :)
