I went plant based last year and yes it is possible to gain on a vegan/plant based diet. The problem is all the "convenience foods" and new "plant based" foods (i.e Beyond burger). They are no different than their animal based cousins. I found when I am eating whole food plant based - fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains…

I would speak to your pediatrician about keto, but agree with others that it isn't a good idea for kids. Besides that if you stopped keto and then gained back all you lost and then some why not try something that is more sustainable long term lifestyle change and not just a diet with quick, temporary results?

Please re-rack your weights and return dumbbells to their proper storage area.

I carry my "reminder bottle" with me everywhere. It holds 24oz (3 cups) so if I drink 3 then I've reached and exceeded my goal. Also remember water is in fruits and vegetables which do contribute to your water intake (although difficult to measure). Black coffee and unsweetened tea count as well.

Unless your trainer is also an RD or licensed nutritionist they cannot legally give specific nutritional recommendations. While low carb diets do cause weight loss (initially rapid due to loss of water) the loss has been shown be no different at 2 years when compared to a low calorie diet. There are other factors as well,…

Neither. I'm going with how I look and feel. If I'm happy with both then I'll keep doing what I'm doing. Scales weight is only reflective of that moment and is influenced many factors, so to me it is unreliable. Clothing sizes are arbitrary because I can wear a size 4 or a size 10 all on the same day, so it means nothing.

They also contain fiber, electrolytes and phytonutrients. They would certainly be a better option than candy, cookies and juice when trying to improve blood sugar.

I use steamed or roasted veggies. So many to choose from! Plus they are low in calorie and high in fiber.

While you can use artificial sweeteners for baking, if you are looking to lose weight and improve your health it may be best to avoid these as well since they are just as sweet as sugar and can trigger cravings which leads to eating more. There are no caloric differences between whole wheat flour and white flour, however…

Given your medical history you really need the help of a registered dietitian and possibly a physical therapist. At this time focus on maintaining a calorie deficit by accurately tracking your food (weighing is best with a food scale). As far as exercise do what you can and build from there. Both cardio (walking) and…

Have you considered eliminating pro-inflammatory foods from your diet (i.e meat, dairy, eggs) and eating more whole food plant based meals? In addition to weight loss this may also help with your multiple medical conditions (or should at least not make them worse). Best of luck to you!

If you can't do back squats what about Zercher or front squats? If back squats hurt your back and it may be your form? Maybe try squatting to bench and working on mobility.

So much going on here, but here are some words of wisdom.. "Comparison is the thief of joy" "Be yourself since everyone else is taken" You need to love yourself and stop looking to IG or any other social media to want to be like someone else. Best of luck to you with your pregnancy.

How do you know you are in a calorie deficit? How are you accounting for what you consume?

It is an unfortunate epidemic in our society and is typically caused by overweight/obesity and/or uncontrolled cholesterol, diabetes and hypothyroidism. Weight loss is key (10% total body weight loss goal in 6 months) in addition to improving the above medical conditions can help. Here is another link that may help as well.

I'm in total agreement with the older you get the worse it is. I have to keep track of my cycles and I can tell when I'm 2-3 days out I turn in to mega *kitten* so I have learned to be really quiet that day and just walk away from situations that I would regret if my hormones were in control.

You don't need a special diet to lose weight. You need a calorie deficit (MFP can help with that). Exercise is great for cardiovasucular and musculosketetal health, but is not necessary for weight loss. It can aid your calorie deficit so if you want to eat more then you need to move more.
-
And people say counting calories is tedious. Eating with a timer? What do you do in social settings? What caused this place of employment to choose this program and what were the other options?
-
I have never heard anyone say this is a "healthy" task. Necessary if you want to leave your house, maybe, but never healthy. As with any new activity you should speak with your physician to make sure YOU are healthy enough to perform.

The impossible burger is as healthy as a regular Whopper. The only benefit that has come from this burger is an option to avoid animal meat so it is purely from a humane aspect.

You did mention you binge on cookies, chocolate, chips and ice cream. Those are ultra processed and can blunt your perception of what food should taste like. None of the foods you just mentioned need to be boring. It may be how they are prepared that you consider them boring. Roasting them can develop flavors that make…

Chances are when you start to avoid the hyper-palatable, ultra processed foods you are currently eating, the fruits and vegetables you once thought had no flavor will taste amazing.
-
Chances are they didn't become "healthy" from eating meat, but they were eating more as the OP agrees she is not eating well or enough. There are really no health benefits to meat that you can't get from plants (except b12 which is really not from meat but is a byproduct of bacteria and this can be supplemented easily).
-
Sorry about your situation, but have you been referred to a registered dietitian? Sounds like you could use the help.
-
Getting "toned" is going to require resistance exercises. Losing weight comes down to a calorie deficit and if avoiding bread allows you to maintain that deficit then great.
-
OK then you focus on you. If they are willing and want to join in then its on their time.

How many meals do you eat together as a family? If just one then just use hand portions to measure it out so the scale isn't such an issue. The other meals you can weigh on your own. Never force your choices on others. It never turns out the way you would like it too.
