  • emy10284: Yeah, I honestly don't see how you can gain weight on birth control for an extended period of time. If you're already watching what you eat and exercising, it should eventually come back down. That's what I'm hoping will happen for me! And yes, MORE WATER! Hahah.
  • Yes, I think the dietary guidelines for sugar given us by the FDA is primarily focused on sources of ADDED sugar. Adding it to coffee, in baked goods, etc. So if you're consuming all-natural sources, don't worry! Get those carbs and cals in.
  • I agree with you 100%! I'm looking to change my lifestyle to something I can live with forever, not for a short time. I read the same websites that you researched, and currently have my macros set to 55% carb/20% protein/25% fat.
  • This sounds fantastic! Name: Rachael (been losing since May 2011) Age: 20 Height: 5'2" CW: 125 GW: 118-120 (maintain and build up muscle after) EDIT: Darn, I think I missed it :(
  • I know this might not be what you want to hear, but maybe scale back on the exercise. Create a more manageable deficit, that way you won't have to eat back so many exercise cals. Do this until you can comfortably eat more, especially with eating higher-cal healthy foods, like avocado, healthy oils, nuts, etc. Do a search…
  • Right above this post is the link for "Signature" with an orange arrow next to it.
  • I was thinking about changing my ticker! Yeah, the first few months were easy, continuous losses. No gains. No plateaus. And now for the past two weeks I am approximately the same weight, if not a little more for water weight. I am definitely trying to eat more. I'm incorporating even more strength training. Drinking tons…
  • Thanks! Good to know you had it in you then, and you still have it in you today!
  • Come on, people! I know you're looking at this post!
  • caitlin70433: I never would have thought to add canola to my shakes! Thanks for the tip, I do seem to struggle with healthy fats. As for the almond milk, it seems to have the same if not more calcium added to it. I did switch it up with Soy milk for a week there and enjoyed it. I might just alternate so I don't get bored.…
  • Mine go numb as well. I just move my feet around, and usually it goes away after a few minutes, especially if I really get my blood flowing. You might try to take a look at your posture and see if you are really bent over or backward, and try straightening it out.
  • This scary phrase "starvation mode" really won't occur unless you are continually providing your body with too few calories and nutrients. One great thing you can do for yourself is calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate -- this is the minimum amount of calories you would need to lie in bed all day. Take this number and eat…
  • I actually have a "free day" every Saturday. Since I workout 6 days a week, Saturday is the day I get to rest and not workout, and also the day I don't have to track. This allows me to not get tired of MFP and just take a short break from calorie tracking. I can eat whatever I want but in MODERATION, and the fact that I'm…
  • Yes, GNC! I bought the 100% Gold Standard Whey -- Double Rich Chocolate flavor. Sooooo good! Mix it in some almond milk -- tastes like the best chocolate milk you'll ever have.
  • This fall will be my first year living off campus! (am in my junior year of undergrad). Will be interested to see if I can keep up this healthy lifestyle. I'm planning to purchase an eco-friendly, cold-capable lunch bag so I can take all my snacks and lunch and dinner to campus, because I'll have to work late some nights.…
  • I am American, and sometimes I worry that other countries' people look at McDonald's and all the extremely obese people eating it constantly and think that all of us are like this. Of course people loves fast food every once in a while, but not all of us Americans eat FF for every meal, every day. That being said, it is…
  • Pescetarian here! I eat fish, eggs, dairy. Occasionally I'll try little bites of chicken, but it's just not my thing. Feel free to add me! I love fruits and veggies and I'm BIG on home-cooked meals for myself and my family.
  • I'm pescetarian, so I know how you feel, for the most part. I eat eggs, milk, and seafood/shellfish. I typically get most of my calories and fiber from grains, fruits, and vegetables. Bananas are a great high-cal, low-fat snack. Avocados are great, in moderation. I LOVE whole-grain bread, preferably fresh-baked without…
  • MFP has definitely proven to be better than WW for me in the long-run! It's free, you track a simple equation of calories in and calories out, you can alter the ratios of protein/carbs/fat to fit your personal needs, there is no converting to points (so you can see exactly what you're putting into your body, 24/7 fellow…
  • Thanks for the encouraging comments! It is quite a struggle. She tends to adopt all of my interests, as I've recently noticed. If I'm into culinary arts and learning to cook better and healthier, she is, too. Which is great since we make so many healthy dinners together! But it's annoying that she now pushes these…
  • Compromise is best! I see where you are coming from. For me, self control came after I was able to keep the junk food out of the house for a little while, just until I was able to listen to my body, understand its needs, understand how to control my impulses and avoid the "bad" foods. My family was then able to have a few…
  • Thanks for the tips! I will look into the CDs at the library, and when it gets back under the 90s here I'll be heading outside more. Also trying to convince my mom to invest in an elliptical to replace that outdated treadmill.
