Stuck

I'm a college student currently spending the summer at my parents' house, and at first I thought I had unlimited workout options. Lately I've felt a little stuck. I do yoga, occasionally go for walks outside, and my parents have machines in their basement: a weight machine, a basic treadmill, and a stationary bike that is probably older than I am and NEEDS updating.

Typically I do the 30-minute workout CDs that came with the treadmill, which incorporate varying inclines and faster speeds. Some days I lift weights. But I feel like I'm not mixing up my cardio enough to help my body. Any comments or suggestions?

Go to a local library and get some workout DVDs. You can switch it up week to week and do two cardio workouts a week on days it's too hot to go outside or you need a change of pace.
  • Are there any trails or parks near by that you can walk/hike? Go to your old football field and climb the stairs, do interval runs at the track, do you have any friends still in town that you can buddy up with? Just some thoughts....as a mom to a college kid home for the summer, I know that 'cost free' is always a good option! I also agree with the library workout dvd option - you might find something there that you really enjoy! Good luck!!

Thanks for the tips! I will look into the CDs at the library, and when it gets back under the 90s here I'll be heading outside more. Also trying to convince my mom to invest in an elliptical to replace that outdated treadmill.
