  • Hey! I just found out I'm pregnant (5 weeks). I'm struggling to figure out how to proceed with exercise, too! I do CrossFit, which is a lot of high intensity, high impact, and heavy weights. While I rationally know that exercise doesn't cause miscarriages, I did have a miscarriage last summer, and I swore to myself that…
  • Top 3 Dumbbell snatch Double unders Hang power cleans Bottom 3 Rowing Wallballs Burpees (hate to be unoriginal!)
  • You guys are awesome! I can't believe I never realized that I can shred it into BBQ beef. That sounds right up my alley! All the recipes looked good, in fact!
  • Crossfit 305 hosted one of the Open WODs this year, so we might try there.
  • I'm insane and did Murph 2 weekends in a row! First Murph - 52:17 without vest but RX movements Second Murph - 1/2 Murph with 20# weight vest 31:29. The weighted vest made the workout exponentially harder than regular Murph. Holy cow! My coach said my friend and I were the first 2 women to attempt it, and even though he…
  • Ooh that looks like a great competition. Atlas ball lifts...random but cool.
  • This workout looks like a great chipper, but I also am sad that I probably won't make it too far into the cleans. I'm actually not sure what I'll realistic do in 14 minutes...wish I could keep going and finish it out, this looks like a great one!! And who knows, maybe I'd get my first muscle up?!? (insert laughter here)

  • My latest victory: finishing a Hero WOD (Ship) 4 seconds before the time cap. You'll never see me do burpee box jumps so quickly!
  • I got 216. I tripped up on DUs more often than I usually do, but honestly I was so winded and out of breath by the 3-4th rounds. Haha, considering I do the "sport of fitness" 5-6 days a week, I feel pathetically out of shape some days!

  • I'm in! It's my first year. EEK! And to be totally honest, I could care less how I stack up against everyone else. I'm just excited to be able to do these WODs with the 60 other people signed up in my gym in a competitive, in house thrown down-type of atmosphere. It's going to be a blast!
  • Yay! Good luck you guys! I'm doing my first partner competition, and it's a "Ball and Chain" competition, so it's me and another guy from the gym. Eek! Unfortunately, we both have a strength bias, and cardio endurance is our weak points, so we can't help eachother out there. But it should be a lot of fun!
  • I'd love to read the article at some point, but thanks for sharing some of those quotes. By no way is the final verdict in on gluten or carbs. I'm currently reading Dr. Perlmutter's book, "Grain Brain", and I find it to be very interesting. Do I think that everyone needs to adopt a low carb diet? Not necessarily. Robb Wolf…
  • Wow, you look amazing! And it's so great to see that you've lost the weight by making healthy changes (swapping rice for avocados!) and not starving. That's the sustainable way to be healthy. Nice work and go ahead and flaunt your rocking body and hard work!
  • I've been Crossfitting for almost 1 year, I can't even believe it! Always looking for more CF friends!
  • I second the collard greens, because they're sturdy! I dropped them into a shallow pan of almost boiling water for less than 30 seconds just to soften them up, and then let cool on paper towels and dry them off. I LOVE lettuce wraps. Maybe I'll make some this week!
  • At 5'7'', I've been anywhere from 125 to 155. And I almost always fit in the same pant size. When I was sitting around 130-135lb, I was "skinny fat". Eating low calorie, not lifting weights. Now since Crossfit, I'm 145lb, and I fit in the same size pants as I did before (size 4-6, depending on the store). I wouldn't focus…
  • I ran into the same problem my first competition, because it lasts all day, and it's tough to figure out when to eat when you have 3-4 WODs lasting all day. (disclaimer: I eat paleo) First, the week leading up to the event, I eat carbs and protein pretty liberally. Especially carbs. I don't stuff myself or overeat, but I…
  • Yes, it's all about the positioning of your feet on the rope. I use my legs more than my arms to climb, and that makes it much easier. They're quite exhausting in a WOD, good luck!
  • Wow, it's such a popular group! So far there's only 1 person posting. I think we can all guess who that is...
  • Yes, I have had a moment where I wanted to cry after a bad WOD. And then I remembered: I didn't sign up for Crossfit to get a certain "time" or "score" on the white board. I came to get a great workout and become stronger. Did you get a great workout? Are you stronger from doing that WOD? Yes and YES! Try not to be so hard…
  • "The Chief" 5 rounds 3 min AMRAP 3 power cleans (135/95) 6 push-ups 9 air squats I. Loved. Every. Minute.
  • Kudos to your for bumping up the calories! I made the same decision last summer, and I gradually increased my calories by 100 every week or so. Initially it took me a while to get used to eating more, and I saw some upward movement on the scale and felt a little bloated. But now that I've been eating more calories (1800)…
  • I love wall walks, but any time the WOD calls for more than 3 consecutive, I die! And somtimes...I stick my stomach out to touch the wall to count as my "rep". Thanks, belly!
  • I've gained about 10lbs since starting Crossfit, but that's because I was a skinny fat, calorie restricting cardio junkie before I started. Now my arms, legs, and midsection are toned, and I have a nice booty from all the squats. My clothes still fit except for the occasional long sleeve shirts, but I look better than…
  • I think it all depends on the type of WOD. Some WODs (think Fran) like AMRAPS or with high reps are supposed to be for explosive speed and constant effort and movement with no rest to get you huffing and puffing and work on endurance. In those cases, I will scale down to a weight that I think I can get in all the reps…
  • I tried it with 3 yolks, a bit of honey, cinnamon, and sea salt. It was delicious. Thick, creamy, frothy. Tasted like something you'd get from Starbucks. But way healthier. And a little later, I took the egg whites and mixed them with a can of tuna to make tuna patties for a protein packed lunch. Fat for breakfast, protein…
  • That looks like a great WOD! I might try it tomorrow after I lift.
  • Then again, if Louie Simmons and the Westside Barbell guys do it...I might be on board. Hmm...this is giving me something to think about!
  • That's so interesting! I have been doing the opposite in fact. I try to do Rx for weights, or as close as I can get to it, and I'd sacrifice time for heavy weights with good technique. I guess I could do lighter weights with speed, but sometimes I feel like I didn't accomplish much when I'm done. I'd prefer to do more…
  • I've been trying carb backloading, concentrating all my carbs in the evening. I can say I've seen improvements in performance weight lifting/CF, but that's just because I'm not low carb anymore. I can't say I've seen dramatic changes in body composition, but I've only been tinkering with this the past month. I only do carb…
