  • Been there, similar story. This time I am serious because for the first time I am having high blood pressure and doc says it's because I've gained weight. Before it was vanity, now it is health. Health is a stronger motivator. GOod luck!
  • You guys are awesome! Only a few hours and so many helpful tips. There are a few here that I found very helpful - have gum, or peppermint to clean the mouth - get in the habit of saying "I don't really eat a lot of XXX" . I really like this. If I can say this repeatedly, it might start sinking in and become true. For some…
  • The weather here has changed from freezing to warm, and I've been waking up at night all sweaty. I thought it was the weather, but maybe it's night sweats? Question - do you have hot flashes before menopause or only after? I'm 53 but still have regular periods.
  • Checking in again. About 2 hours on the treadmill while I worked on the laptop. Better than slouching in the desk chair.
  • Just checking in again - wow this is a lot of posts to get through!
  • Ok, 2nd time posting. Hi all! I'm Gigi from WNY snow country. My goal is to keep checking in to MFP for the motivational support. I think that if I can make it a daily habit, I will stay on track more. Right now if I slip up for a week or eat 2 whole packs of girl scout cookies (last week's sins) well, that's just my bad.…
  • Just found this thread, it's what I need. My goal is to recheck this thread again tomorrow for motivation. Need it lately.
  • googling your symptoms is the quickest way to freak yourself out. I've done this, google suggests all sorts of horrible possibilities, but then a doctor visit will suggest something more mundane. My friend had weird periods like that, she had brownish discharge because she didn't menstruate every month. Just natural for…
  • HI! I'm new here, so jumping into the July challenge late. My goal is to log everything I eat everyday. It's not hard, just takes a bit of discipline to keep at it. It is illuminating to see how many calories are accumulating in the "snacks" category, even when they're healthy snacks. Plus, just knowing I have to track it…
  • Hello - sorry for this long intro! I'm Gigi, 51 and new to these support forums. I recently read a good article on behavior modification for weight loss, and they stressed the need to track what you eat and have an active support group. My 2 best friends are model thin, and my husband is fit, so I don't have a local group…
  • Hi Schnicklefritz1 - good for you and the weight lifting! That's something I want to start soon (just not yet). I've read tons that say strength training builds muscle which burn more calories around the clock. Lots of agreement that srength training will charge up weight loss. I think I will start moderately in the fall.…
  • Hi Suejoker, hi Schnicklefrit, thanks for the welcome :-) Sue, Good for you, you have come so far! I would be very pleased with a pound a week loss. I don't like to extreme diet, slow and steady works better. I must say that for 49 you have a beautifully young face! I'm hoping that just being "accountable" to some people…
  • Yes, I read once that we are our habits. So I need to make better ones. thanks
  • Thanks Blue! You're right, I know that I need to work on my mindset because sometimes when I've been dieting a while I feel NOBLE but deprived. I need to turn that around so I feel good about it, not like I'm missing out on something. I like your checking account idea, and the MFP tracker should help me with that.
  • Yup, fine today. Yesterday was a washout though. Spent the evening on the couch reading.
  • jbekkaz, I just loved your comment: Become more active (stop blending into the computer chair and couch... ) haha! Sometimes I feel I am merging with my computer chair too!
  • Hi! I'm new too! Just reading through these posts and introducing myself to other newbies. I hope we can both get fit again! Gigi
  • Hi! Welcome! I'm new too, so thought I would say hi. Gigi
  • Hi! I'm a newbie too! I got the mfp app months ago, and have gotten into the habit of tracking my food. So now I really want to try the forums for support. I think that's what I need. I should do a new post introducing myself like Laurie has. So, HI Laurie!
