  • Only when mixed with soda or tonic. Most quality booze is all natural.
  • Neutrogena spray in the yellow can. I don't know what they brand it, but its great. For faces I use their liquid logic 30. They make a sweat proof one but it only comes in spf70 which is too much for my liking. I would also recommend a quality moisturizer sunblock combo, I use jack blacks or kiehls and like both.
  • Also very well said.
  • Bingo. Once you start exercising at a high level, your body needs food to replenish itself afterwards (as well as before). You can't physically work out with any level of intensity if you don't give your body the nutrients it needs. I don't eat back calories from exercise as a rule, but I definitely tend to eat more on…
  • Viola soda or vodka on the rocks. I add olives to mine on the rocks which promotes water retention but I like it, and I don't drink very much anyways.
  • Good foods: Fresh vegetables, raw or steamed Fresh fruits All natural yogurt or kefir Nuts and nut butter Non gmo meats, preferably grass or vegetable fed Whole grains and breads, pastas, rice and flours made from whole grains Bad foods: Foods that are highly processed and or chock full of preservatives Frozen dinners Soda…
  • Very well said. Often we lose sight that the main goal behind losing weight is (or should be) long term health, better quality of life, and longevity. Looking good and feeling better is just a byproduct. How many 400 pound plus people do you know or see that are older than their mid 50s?
  • I play league tennis as well. I darn sure count it as cardio. I do all my cardio as "unstructured" fun outside activities. Bike riding, hiking, tennis, etc.
  • I built a hodge podge gym, buying off CL, amazon, and a few odds and ends from play it again sports for very short money. Gyms where I live are over $100/month. Sounds like you already know what you have to do exercise wise, which is half the battle sometimes. Its easy to do strength training at home. Start small and add…
  • Both bikes I ride are flat bars. An old bianchi and a newer cannondale. The bianchi has road slicks on it the cannondale is a hard tail MTB. Cannondale has bar ends (I'm old school). Don't get it on the bianchi, which is what I ride on roads. I'm bringing the cannondale in to get tuned after a nice spill did ose wheel…
  • Probably. Its worse on trails than on road. I ride about 50/50. The trails I ride have a ton of roots and its single track, meaning a lot of cornering as the bike wants to get squirrelly.
  • Nz deeva you ain't playing around are you? Those beef cheeks look incredible. Not many animals out there where the cheeks aren't the best part...
  • One more thing. I don't think I've ever been to a thrift store that didn't have a crock pot for sale. While its not a necessity, for cheap meals that taste good, nothing makes it all come together like a crock pot.
  • I would be buying lots of bulk black beans and brown rice. A few (or just one pre combined) spices, add a protein of choice, and you're off to the races. Splurge and add jalapeños and sour cream or Greek yogurt on top. I used to make cheap chili all the time too, and shephards pie. Those are two that always amaze me how…
  • Omelette: Four egg whites Kale, shrooms, onions 2.5 oz filet One oz goat cheese 1/3 of an avocado Hot sauce on top
  • I guess I just try to take A more common sense approach to eating. I shoot for mostly individual items and ingredients cooked and combined myself, or from a grocer or restaurant that I trust. I shoot for a "real world" diet, and unfortunately that diet includes whey protein (processed), almond milk (also processed), and…
  • Some great looking carts here folks! Here's an average trip for me: Veggies/fruit probably 80% organic Pick two- blueberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, raspberries Bananas Onions Mushrooms Carrots Avocados Sweet potatoes Pick two-asparagus, broccoli, bok choy, green beans Broccoli rabe Kale Almond butter Some sort of quality…
  • I like a big protein heavy breakfast as it tends to make me eat less throughout the day. Generally averages around 350 calories plus coffee for another 50. I'm a snacker though. Most of my meals are around 350-500 but I'll eat 3-4 extra snacks most days.
  • A good rule of thumb for grocery stores is stay on the perimeter. Veggies, meats (happily raised vegetable or grass fed animals preferably), whole grains, natural cheeses (not processed "cheese foods", non gmo dairy. Its quite simple. Of course there are certain things that are processed to an extent, I usually go organic…
  • To me, a processed food is any food that is made using unnatural or genetically modified ingredients. Here is a good link with a definition and a brief explanation: http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/processed-food-definition-2074.html
  • Its different for everyone. Trust Your body, it will tell you when enough is enough. Were you riding at a leisurely pace or were you pumping like crazy with an elevated heart rate for an extended period of time? If the former, its kind of impossible to overdo. Everybody is different, you really just have to let your body…
  • Big Macs (along with 90% of the food at mcdonalds) is filled with processed garbage and trans fats. Its not good for you. Period. Yes, you can eat one and still be a healthy person overall. But if that style of eating is a daily part of your food choices, you are not making healthy long term decisions. The whole point I…
  • Yes you also think Big Macs and soda with fake sugar is healthy though.
  • My apologies. I should know better, as two members in my family have type one diabetes.
  • Makes perfect sense. I do the same. I'm going to make some tomorrow now that you mention it. Trader joes makes a pretty good "reduced guilt" guac using Greek yogurt too. Their serving size is absurdly tiny, but three or four servings is still around 100-120 calories. Avocado also has glucosamine in it which is great lube…
  • Lift days I usually do on my lunch break. Eat lunch, work out, take a shower, then back to work. Cardio days, I do outside generally, so if I can control it I do it early in the morning. I play league tennis in the evenings and I damn sure count that as cardio, though the current league is the same night I work with my…
  • I do as well. Many of my workouts are actual circuits so It works well. I don't eat back my exercise its just for my Log anyways.
  • I'm sure my protein powder is processed too, as is almond milk and flax seed meal, but all are healthy and all natural. But all natural protein powder and a pop tart are both processed foods by definition, yet one is far more processed, and one uses natural ingredients. I don't think for a long shot most of the people on…
  • ^^^^^^ This x 10000. A Big Mac meal with a strawberry shake has 1575 calories. For that amount of calories I can have: Protein shake for breakfast with US protein added almond milk and 2T flax seed meal 6 oz watermelon Chicken sandwich loaded with veggies on whole wheat bread Half cup pistachios Another protein shake post…
  • I guess my point is America has made a huge industry out of weight loss. Weight watchers, lean cuisine, gyms, DVDs, trainers, and what not, bombard us constantly. Yet you ever see a breakfast buffet in Europe? Its insane! Fresh croissants, nine types of house cured meats, homemade cheese, egg poaching machines, thick…
