I use the Good Seasons packets and make it at home. But instead of using the recommended amount of oil, I use 2 tablespoons of oil and the rest is water (in addition to the vinegar of course). It is delicious and after refrigeration gets thick. I have served this to guests and they didn't know it was diet. Sometimes…

Yea! Best feeling ever!

The only thing that works for me is to log my food and drinks. All of them, even the bad ones! Seeing it on paper (computer, ipad) helps me to limit the binges. I'm beginning to see weekends just like any other day and not an excuse to overeat. It is about learning how to live life while maintaining a healthy body. Good…

Beautiful! Way to go.

I agree that you can eat more - probably 1500 - without affecting your weight loss based on what you say you do. Your lunches look a little sad  Maybe try adding in some afternoon snack with lots of protein (nuts, boiled egg) and a fruit or a salad. You're doing great! As my husband said to me when I started "Patience…

This is a great post. Good for all of us to remember. Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I joined too for the gym and food logging. I didn't want to have to bother with the photographing my vegetables.

You'll lose weight quickly, some of it muscle. And when you stop the diet, you'll gain weight quickly - all of it fat. Don't do it. I did it years ago and it isn't a long term success plan.

Thanks for the hints. When I first started, someone told me to give up my drink of choice. So I gave up (mostly) gin and tonics and started drinking light beer which is filling and take longer to drink. But since I've started practicing control of portions (and I will admit I'm not always successful but 99% of the time) I…

I have chronic pain and find the recumbent bike works well for me.

Your food diary isn't open so it is hard to tell. The most important thing in my opinion is to accurately log your food. You may be eating more than you think if you are not weighing and measuring your food. I use a food scale and weigh everything that goes into my mouth, especially high calorie items like fat or alcohol.…

Still can't see your food diary.

It is easy to get. One cup of rice has 200 calories. How about chick peas, kidney beans, pinto beans and don't forget your salad dressings. And nuts.

What you are doing is a great way to keep your blood sugar levels stable throughout the day. My mother was diabetic and her nutritionist recommended eating every three hours or so. By doing this, she was able to completely come off of her diabetic medications and regained normal blood sugar levels. Don't worry about what…

Thanks all for the responses. It helps tremendously to see people that experienced the same thing and went on to be successful. I'm sticking with it! Thanks again! Food scale sits on the counter and everything goes on it, I don't know why I never did that before. A lot easier thanes sing!

I weigh it on my food scale. All of it. I drink daily.

You don't think fat people are already shamed enough? Poor self image doesn't help the problem. What worked for smoking doesn't work for eating. You can't quit eating cold turkey. You can't make eating in public places illegal. You can't outlaw eating in bars and restaurants. People need to feel empowered to change their…

You rock! Congratulations on staying on course for the year. Your results are amazing and you should be so proud of yourself. It is stories like yours that help me through the rough times. Thank you for posting.

Two years ago, I would have said "NO WAY I"M DOING THIS FOREVER". But now with smartphones and Ipad apps, it is so easy and it is essential to my progress. I agree with others that I'm addicted to it. Also, when I click the "complete this entry" button, it signals to me that I'm done for the day. Most times that works and…

Yes. I will either count calories the rest of my life or worry everyday about my weight.

I got my food scale from Amazon for 14.99 with free 2 day shipping. Measures in ounces, grams, pounds and can zero out the weight of the bowl you are using. Works great!

Works for me too. I was on medication, but it didn't work for me as well as exercise. There are studies that say exercise is as effective as medication for treating depression. I believe it.

This is the best advice. Log everything. Good, bad, ugly.

Go to a golf store. They sell longer shorts and in all sizes. Nice fabric too.

This is a definite problem for me and I credit my three daily super sized gin and tonics for the 60 pounds I need to lose. I had all the normal excuses, stress, socially expected, I just wanted it. I've been monitoring for about forty days and have greatly reduced. I log all of it. Some days are good. Some bad. Last night…

I have 60 to lose. Gained mine at a stressful job as well. Last year I quit my job and it has taken me a year to feel well enough to even start. I've been on MFP for one month. I log every day. My weight loss is slow, but fairly steady. I'm working to build muscle to help boost my metabolism. You can add me if you wish. I…
