For me, strength training has been the best way to lose inches. It doesn't even have to be in a gym. Try doing some planks, push-ups, squats. Good luck and keep doing what you're doing.

Wow. 9 pages of advice from people who've had success and all of it was wrong? I don't understand these kinds of posts. Did she really think there was going to be a magic formula?

Whenever I am not losing weight like I think I should, I focus all my efforts on accuracy. I weigh everything that goes into my mouth on my food scale. I log every morsel - good, bad or ugly. I have an open diary to my friends and it ask them to call me out when I've slipped up. And they do. I don't consider it being mean,…

I'm 57. I'm losing my weight pretty slowly, about 5 pounds a month. I'm strength training and doing recumbent bike. I find that my skin is tightening up nicely and I'm getting more defined. I honestly thought I was too old, but I can see now that was not true. It is never too late to get more fit. You can only get better!

I saute up a bunch of chicken tenders with olive oil, salt, pepper, onion powder. I put them in baggies in 3 ounce servings and when I need a protein snack, I just grab one and eat it cold. They are great on salads as well. Or you can shred up and add to soup. Anything. An excellent low calorie, cheap and tasty source of…

One more piece of advice. Don't look at the big number. Break it up into smaller goals. Good luck!

Hi Eric, I hope you find this site as helpful as I have. Do you know what your plan is? I'm currently trying to eat 20% less than my TDEE and most days find it is quite doable. I log all my food and my diary is open. You can friend me if you wish.

What is it?

I make enough for dinner that I can take the leftovers for lunch. It could be anything. Soups are my favorite. Chili, chicken and rice with vegetables, pork, sauerkraut and potatoes. With 500 calories your choices are vast.

I think you should recalculate your BMR. I was 5'8" , 224 pounds and sedentary. My BMR was around 1500. Now that I've lost weight, it is around 1450. I calculated using this site. http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ My Fitbit flex calculates it about the same. My TDEE being sedentary is about 1900. And they do say that you…

I use my food scale for everything I put into my mouth. I even weigh liquids versus measure as the weight of 8 ounces of water is close to the measured amount. It is just much easier. I set my bowl on the scale and weigh out my salad dressings. It is just wonderful!

I've done this. I think it was fear. I was afraid my body couldn't lose more. That I was too old. I was afraid the program wouldn't work for me. That I had already ruined my metabolism. I was wrong. I'm lighter now than I've been in five years. Keep going. Have faith in the plan. Weigh, measure, log, move more, repeat.

It is delicious when cooked in a chicken breast soup with white beans. Just the bulb part, not the stalk. Use chicken stock, onion, carrot, celery, fennel (anise), chicken breast and white beans. Red chili flake. Yum! Also good when cooked with sausage.

I would medicate myself with food. You just have to stop. You have to let yourself feel the pain or boredom or whatever else it is you are trying to mask. It isn't easy and I still mess up, but you just start and then you just do.

Strawberries right now. They are great and very low calorie.

I have a bad knee. I use a recumbent bike. I can burn a lot of calories this way and I like it! Put on my favorite tunes and just go for it! And I always hated exercise.
-
I have a valgus knee (it collapses inwards) and arthritis. I wear a knee brace when I walk or am weight bearing for a long time. I found the recumbent bike at the gym to be a great way to get in some exercise, build leg muscle, and burn calories. I'm up to a level 11 for 60 minutes. I started at 1 for 20. I highly…

I have a pair of jeans that I am still wearing. They were really tight and now they are really loose. But I also have clothes that I was never able to wear, that still had tags on them , that now fit loosely. Go try on some new clothes. You will be amazed.

The most important thing is to believe you can lose weight. And you can! And you will if you weigh and measure, log, move more and be mindful of your goals. Not for a week. Not for a month, but for a lifetime.

I like the Baileys Mudslide creamer. It is 35 calories for a T. I add some sweetner as well.

I know what it is like to be 50. I wish I was 50 again. I wish I had done then what I'm doing now. Make the change. Make the biggest, most bold, drastic change in your life and do it now. Make a commitment. Make it publicly. 1. Set a realistic goal. Calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and subtract 20%.…

Chop up one slice of bacon and render it in the skillet. Chop up the kale and sauté in the bacon with red chili flake, a little olive oil and garlic. Salt and pepper of course. And at the end before serving, a light splash of white balsamic vinegar. Wonderful! Can omit bacon if you want, but everything is better with bacon…

You do need to do a sanity check on the ingredients. If anything is way off, just delete and re-enter that ingredient. I'm just really psyched because I have almost all my recipes online!
-
Wow! That is just wonderful. You look great. What advice do you have? What did you do to lose it?
-
I hadn't noticed this. It showed the recipe for me to add to my log, but you are right. The app on my Iphone doesn't show the ingredients of the recipe. I will do the same if needed, just go to the full site via Safari. This is still far better than Weight Watchers online. I paid for that for years. I'm so happy with MFP.
