  • I'm a big fan of the Syntax Nectar protein especially the Fuzzy Navel flavor (peach and orange). It's more like a juice than a shake not that creamy flavor. Fantastic in fruit or green smoothies too.
  • When you log your exercise, MFP will adjust your caloric requirements for that day.
  • I don't have a juicer, I have a vitamix, but I have a green smoothie every morning. This is what I use: 1.5 c Baby Spinach .5 c Baby Kale 1/2/banana 1/2 c pineapple because it's a smoothie I also add protein powder, 1/2 c almond milk and ground flaxseed. I can't really taste the greens (wouldn't like it if I could). My…
  • Your instinct is correct. What you are doing is very unhealthy. If you eat too few calories, your body will go into starvation mode. When you do eat, your body will want to store calories as fat to be used later (just to keep you alive) and your metabolism may slow down to adjust to your calorie intake. You should be…
  • Yes, that sounds reasonable. I wear a heart rate monitor when I walk my dogs (not strenuous but a little faster than 3 miles/hour) and the HRM says I'm burning about 130 calories in 25 minutes. I'm a little taller and heavier than you are.
  • There are a couple of areas I always hit. Rolling the IT band is really important because it is really hard to stretch. I also like to roll through the glutes. Laying on the roller to stretch the chest feels really great and is relaxing. If you want to see lots of techniques for using the roller, go to YouTube. There are…
  • Walk. Walk consistently. Log all your meals and walk. It will add up.
  • Planks are really good for firming up the muscles in your core. You can check YouTube for the proper form for any of the exercises mentioned.
  • IMO you can't go wrong with Polar. I think they have a chart on their web site that compares the features of their models. I used it to pick the model I wanted and then googled that model to find the best price.
  • Dude, "Loser_Dad"? Really? :noway: This is not a good sign! I'll be your friend.
  • I bet this is not what you want to hear, but you should be talking to a professional. If you feel like you have a binging disorder, you need better advice/treatment than most people on the internet can give you.
  • 1500 calories seems REALLY low to me and in weight loss, faster is not usually better. What caloric intake does MFP recommend for you?
  • You would have had to have consumed 17,000 calories over what you burned (not your calorie goal) to have put on 5 lbs. Keep drinking your water, get back on track and don't beat yourself up about it. :flowerforyou:
  • As long as it fits into my daily calories budget, I eat whatever I want. IMO having foods that are forever and always forbidden is counterproductive. I don't want to feel deprived or punished.
  • First, congratulations on your success! You worked hard and it paid off. If you are worried about having an eating disorder, you need to speak to a professional, not random strangers on the internet. I suspect you are stronger than you think you are. You recognize that something might be wrong. Now take the next step to…
  • Get rid of the old clothes. New clothes that fit you will make you feel better and they can be an "early warning" system that you might need to get back on track. If you WANT to stay at the size you are now, stay at the size you are now. Reward yourself for your accomplishments.:flowerforyou:
  • You should give your muscles a day to rest between strength workouts, so MWF or TuThS. You can do cardio everyday, but one day a week totally off is not a bad idea. On the machines, make sure you are doing chest, back, shoulders, abs and legs. As far as reps go, you probably want to do 3 sets of 12-15 reps. The weight…
  • I use my heart rate monitor every time I workout. Mine is Polar. Just FYI, the HRMs that don't have a chest strap are notoriously inaccurate.
  • The best gift you can give your son is a happy healthy mom. You can't beat yourself up over other people "judging" you. I heard once "You wouldn't care about what other people think of you if you knew how infrequently they did." You can do whatever you choose to do. Make small goals and make them positive. Something like…
  • Have you thought of using exercise bands or tubing? They are inexpensive. You could use an exercise band to do leg presses laying on your back. Another idea might be a suspension trainer (google TRX, but there are knock offs too I think). You can use a suspension trainer on a door. They are more expensive than tubing…
  • I have a Boston Marathon Treadmill from ProForm. It also has iFit which really is awesome and video workouts for Boston Marathon training. The incline goes up to 20% and the decline down to 6%. I've had it a little over a month and it has never worked quite right (speeds up at random). I'm working with customer service to…
  • Are you logging your food? I looked it up, and your 3 bean burritos are over 1000 calories by themselves and really high in fat. As far as your workout... It is important to be balanced. You are working your chest and back and your biceps. I would add triceps, abs, shoulders and legs. What is really going to make a…
  • I don't think you can go wrong with Polar. If you go to their web site, I think there is a comparison of all the different models. I use mine every time I workout. Love it.
  • Soreness after a workout is pretty common. If you are sore for more than 3 days, you probably over did it. It should go away and if it's just regular muscle soreness, it should decrease after every workout until you make some sort of change. The first time you do anything new it might come back.
  • I found this: Grain Products Vegetables, and Fruit 1 cup cereal flakes = 1 fist 1 pancake = 1 compact disc 1/2 cup cooked rice, pasta or potato = 1/2 baseball 1 oz slice of bread = 1 cassette tape 1 cup of salad greens = 1 baseball 1 baked potato = 1 fist 1 medium piece fruit = 1 baseball 1/2 cup fresh fruit = 1/2 baseball…
  • Kashi Go Lean Crisp with Berries - I put 1/2 c in a berry greek yogurt for breakfast. It's high in fiber and protein and around 300 cal.
  • Make sure the carbs you choose are high in fiber (not sure about the Special K) and watch the sugar. I am constantly reading labels to check the fiber and sugar in any processed stuff.
  • I use the Magic Bullet. I recently had to replace mine after may years. You can get a Magic Bullet now that comes with an ice crushing blade that is a little different from the regular blade.
  • Hi. I'm Kristal. I'm 52 and I live in Texas. What sort of exercise do you like to do?
  • I use Amazon.com to research products. I'm sure there are reviews for your HRM there. I'm not familiar with that brand.
