I'm actually just getting started preparing for my very first bikini competition on May 31st in Duluth, MN. I've never even thought of doing this before, but needed some extreme motivation to get back into shape before our July wedding. My fiance and I are doing this together so that'll help too. Any advice for this…

Thank you so much for all the advice! It's so nice to hear how others maintain this lifestyle. After reading your posts, I think my biggest problem is that I was trying to take on too much at one time. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and I wanted the full benefits RIGHT NOW! Making mini goals for myself and checking them…

Speaking of cutting down on fruit...what is the recommended serving per day? I would much rather eat fruit than veggies (although I eat a fair share of veggies every day).

L1D2 complete! Ran before I did the video so I was pretty spent by the finish. Did it in full though :)

L1D1 Complete! Pretty sore...

I want in! I'm starting tonight. Close enough :)

I think I'll start today! Sounds like everyone is having really great success with this...Any suggestions for doing both the shred and 6 pack abs at the same time?

I can swim really well, I just lost control of my breathing and that was enough to make it as difficult as it was. I think I got lost in all of the excitement and nervousness waiting to hit the water. When I did, I wasn't focused and I wore myself out. It felt like it took me 40 minutes or longer to reach the beach. My…

Well I completed my first triathlon on Saturday! My goal was finish in under two hours without stopping. I finished in 1:56 with a sprained ankle. I have decided that swimming is not really my thing, so from here on out I will be focusing more on duathlons and half marathons. My first half is Whistlestop in Bayfield WI on…

Thanks for the advice/encouragement! I figure after this first race I will have learned what and what not to do. I value your responses...thanks again!

Bump...going to try this!

Thanks for sharing everyone! It's nice to know that I'm one among many who have this problem. Great suggestion about drinking extra water. I hate feeling bloated, but I'd rather it be from water than too much sugar/sweets. Also, can I get your yogurt pop recipe? That sounds really good and something that I would eat for…

Ha, that's hilarious. I'm usually really good at spell checking myself. Oh well...

A couple suggestions: How much protein is in each shake by itself without adding milk? Our bodies can only handle digesting about 15-20 grams of protein at a time. Adding the protein from milk on top of this and the banana (a gassy food) will only complicate things. Secondly, it could be too much fiber. Your body may not…

Great advice! Thanks to all of you who responded. It's nice to hear from others about what worked for them and what didn't so I can learn from their mistakes or triumphs. Much appreciated :)

One more question...What do you ladies wear for swimming and the Biking transition? I've heard people just wear sports bras under their suits/ instead of suits, but what on bottom and does it dry fast enough?
-
Wow...Thanks so much for all the quick responses! The You Tube transition video is a good idea. I was worried about that part of it, but didn't even think to look there. Judging from everyone's advice, I think I'll stick with the mountain bike for now and just tweek it a little bit. The course is really close to my house,…

My favorite protein powder is the Myoplex Lite Vanilla Cream. Tastes good without any extras added too, which is a bonus!

I go over EVERY day on my sugars as well. I quit paying attention to it unless it's extreme. It's frustrating and discouraging to see the red all the time.

I also eat oatmeal most mornings. I LOVE Kashi Go Lean Crunch as well, but I've been trying to find some "good tasting" low sugar cereals besides oatmeal. Any suggestions??

Ocean Spray cranberry pomegranate juice. I didn't realize how many grams of sugar are in it!! Also, the chocolate in my desk drawer at work. That's totally worth it if I can have "just a bite". Most of the time I can :)
